Thanks for the heads up guys, I guess I'll keep my points for something else. :)

Fantastic timing.

Quick question, which of the two should I buy or are both worth the points?

Still haven't played the Blade Wolf DLC but don't expect much from Sam's DLC, Sam is a quite different playing character than Raiden so that's a plus but overall was kinda disappointing...I guess I'm bitter because I bought it at 800 points, I guess for 400 points it's worth it though.

Yeah, this is pretty shitty of them. What happened to offering one of the games free or a points/cash rebate?

A souls pack for Ascend is hardly going to encourage anyone to buy all four...

Well, considering you only need to buy two to get the reward...

But ya, this reward is horrible lol.

This is probably the weakest Summer of Arcade so far. I will save my points to buy Ducktales and Castle of Illusion. When are these coming out?

Same here! I want these two games more than anything announced for arcade at this point.

Thanks. I'll give them both a crack, more MGR is a good thing.

So annoyed, I can't get on to download anything.

360 stopped connecting to my wifi a couple weeks ago and refuses to work no matter what I do. It worked fine for years up to this point, and every other device in my house still works fine on wifi.

I tried rebooting the router and modem. Any other ideas? I'm getting frustrated here.

The Knife of Dunwall was pretty damn good and surprisingly lengthy; it took me several hours to complete. I think I prefer playing with Daud as opposed to Corvo. I like being able to pause mid jump and adjust the blink destination and fall speed.

I just didn't like the last mission since I thought it was more cumbersome/more combat oriented especially when doing a no kill run. I liked the story and the back story on Daud so I'm really looking forward to the second Daud DLC whenever it hits (not for a while definitely). It definitely better than Corvo's story. It's a steal at 400 MSP so I would highly recommend it for anyone that wants more Dishonored.

I guess they're saving this week's thunder for the glorious release of Real Steel 2 on friday.

Kinda bizarre to not have anything when they have so many games in the pipeline. Must've been something that failed cert at the last minute.

Reel Steel 2? Oh you mean Pacific Rim. Forgot that was this Friday.

Yeah, I'm thinking something failed cert or they decided against a release because of the sale/beta.

Those are some good bundles, except maybe the last one. Can we get an Outpost Kaloki 2 already?

Why is it Fusion: Genesis and not Strania or Guwange, though? Doesn't really make any sense.

I would rather have Cloning Clyde 2, Ancient of the Ooga was was spiritual sequel but from what i've played of it, its not really the same.

Those bundles look nice.

The Shooter pack is a must. I do have to question why Triggerheart Excelica isn't included in it.

The Beat Em Up bundle is cool too. I missed the sale on Unbound Saga when it was $2 some years ago and if you need an excuse to get Vampire Smile this would be the time. And maybe having DFL in it for all its flaws may repopulate the online for awhile.

Those bundles are all well and good but why not just permanently reduce the prices on the individual titles?

It means folks who own one or two can still benefit.

Life is like a hurricane, as Capcom today announced that DuckTales: Remastered will officially release from this August on all major platforms: PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. Across Europe, the game will be available for digital download on August 13 for PC, August 14 on PSN, August 15 via the Nintendo eShop on Wii U, with an XBLA version launching September 11. DuckTales: Remastered is priced at €14.99.

Plus new video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nar1u-Co3jA

September 11th for xbla version?
Is this because of scheduling and summer of arcade?
Yeah looks like it is. Why couldn't they just put duck tales in as well.

It looks a hell of a lot better than much of the other stuff in SoA, but they wouldn't have put it in without a month's exclusivity, so I guess they got told to fuck off and now they're a month late instead.

Yeah, this month delay is bloody annoying to say the least. Ah well, will double dip on PS3 and 360.

I got a late beta invite to Ascend and it's actually pretty good! I'm about an hour in and honestly I'm not quite sure what the goal of the game is yet, but so far it's a singleplayer adventure game beat 'em up. Other people can be seen running around the world but they're in another dimension and can only be attacked if I send enemies through dimension portals. Quite like what I see so far.

Most importantly, it seems to get F2P right A LOT better than Spartacus did. Reasonable prices and worthwhile things to buy here, where Spartacus had neither.

Spartacus was easily the biggest let-down of the year for me. Had so much potential, but their decision to go for a pay 2 win model destroyed any chance the game ever had of being remotely good.

Two questions:

1) Why haven't we gotten a date for Max and the Magic Marker: Curse of the Brotherhood? I can't even find it listed on Xbox.com.

2) Has the most recent Need for Speed Most Wanted DLC pack ever been on sale? It's still 2,000 points, and that's just too expensive for what it's offering. Is there a site that tracks if DLC has ever been on sale before?

Thanks.

No, it hasn't. It's still quite new, I guess. XBLDB.com lets you see a price history of every item on Marketplace. Just use the search and press on the relevant item:

I've been playing Runner 2 (Future Legend of Rhythm Alien) for the past few days and have been enjoying it a great deal. A hybrid of an auto runner platformer and a rhythm game, each jump, duck and item collected adds a tone to the music playing during the level, which builds as they progress. Controls are snappy which is good because some levels require extreme precision.

Levels often have alternate paths which can lead to unlockables and alternate exits to bonus levels on the world maps. Many levels feature keys which are not revealed - and thus collectable - until a Key Vault level is beaten late in the current overworld map, which adds replayability to levels, encouraging you to go back and explore those locked away alternate paths.

The gameplay is challenging but not brutal, with the hardest paths left optional and a mid level checkpoint offering some forgiveness. I find myself replaying sections a dozen times or more without getting frustrated, just slowly learning the beats of the obstacles. For perfectionists there are a lot of ways to add to your score over the course of a level, from collecting every pile of gold, playing on harder difficulties, nailing a bonus "perfect plus" shot at the end, to squeezing in extra dance moves between actions. A long list of achievements, unlockables and additional goals round out the package.

The art has a pleasant surrealism to it and overall it maintains a whimsical feeling that adds to the lack of frustration. Playing it is a really soothing yet focused experience.

However.

The game makes a few mistakes along the way. There's an object introduced that you have to kick to break down, and they have one of the parts of the object fly away directly "out" of the screen, taking up a sizable amount of screen space for a few moments. There are many places in some levels where these bits cover up obstacles you need to dodge at exactly the wrong time, and I found myself crashing into as a result. Not a huge issue, but it added a number of trial and error moments to some levels.

The third level is themed with one color - I think brown? - which was unfortunate as it sucked all the joy out of the absurdest artwork. One of the loading screen messages mocks games that are all brown as well, so it was a particularly unfortunate direciton for that world.

And then comes the 4th over world, where I am at. I've hit a wall, so to speak, The Mounting Sadds. The designers opted for a monochromatic orange filter to the levels, and that's made it extremely hard for me to distinguish and even see obstacles. After a few levels, I've found I can't make any progress. Just now I spent a fair amount of time and can't even get to the first checkpoint, as I keep hitting objects I literally can't see until after I collide with them.

I don't know if this is a common problem or something exacerbated by my red/green colorblindness, but it's put a hard stop to what had been my largely unimpeded progress through the game. I fear I may not be able to make any more progress. And to be clear, it's not because the game is hard - I've been sailing through levels and taking mostly the most challenging paths. I just can't see through the color filter bit.trip applied to the levels.

I might be able to brute force it after a while, but the last two play sessions have been really wearying. I'll be pretty bummed if this is where my time with the game ends, but I don't see much of an alternative.

yeah, runner 2 is a great game but i too had problems with those objects blocking my view. that and the game gets hard as balls later. but it is a really great game that i need to get back to. there is a surprisingly large amount of content for a game of its type.

Looking at it on Youtube, the Mounting Sadds seems to be composed primarily of a morass of similarly-toned red and green objects, so uh... yeah, bummer. :/

Hah, that explains why I thought it was orange. I had my kids look just now and they're like, that's red, dad.

Bummer. Loved the game up to that point.
