Every time this gets bumped I get excited thinking there'll be a direct feed gameplay vid from the latest build. I once again leave disappointed.

I hope the arcade feel is very accentuated.

I DO NOT want to play a simulation.

It's definitely arcade, no doubt about that just looking at the gameplay videos.

I wonder why they focused so much on realistic car models since they ultimately make an arcade game. Seems like the dev time should be better spent elsewhere.

Now I loved Motorstorm 2, so I'm pretty sure I'll like that one too.

PGR. Real cars, arcade handling. Same with NFS. Just because they're realistic models doesn't mean they have to drive that way. Some people (myself included) just want to fang cars around that embody their real-life counterparts, not necessarily emulate them perfectly. Heck, even FM and GT don't do that yet.

yep yep. I have no idea how realistically my beloved Caterham handled in Most Wanted U, but I sure had a blast throwing that thing around corners and weaving in and out of traffic.

Ok, I guess it makes sense then...

I give Evolution Studios the benefit of the doubt even if this doesn't look like looking out the window and into the streets. Their Rally games had tremendous stages, though i wasn't a fan of the handling. They can do spectacular damage models, though this game isn't about that, from what i see. But Brit devs are usually very good at racers.

My concern is that i don't know what the game is about (driving in clans?), and at this point in the driving games' genre, we need more than just going around a circuit and coming in first place. The game should have something that its unique to it. Ideally nothing gimmicky.

Really if PGR4 was made for the next gen systems with no new features it would be a killer game.

Have they said whether there will be an upgrade path to the full version and if so how expensive it would be?

Also if you get the PS+ edition and end up buying the disc will your progress carry over?
Good questions.

I think its been assumed you can upgrade from the PSN+ edition to the full, but I haven't seen any concrete details on that or how saves are handled.

From what I can gather, it basically is a PGR game but you have the ability to set (effectively) kudos challenges for regions or sections of track for your friends to master. I can only assume that given the game has an offline mode, that there'll be something else to fill that gap (like a basic career mode a la PGR4).

It's cheap but damn if there isn't some super intense racing due to it.

If you took all your corners properly the AI would literally never catch up to you. The Rubber banding in MS1 was dramatically over stated.

Motorstorm 1 was glorious. Level design was above any arcade racing game. It felt like mario kart racing with realistic cars in mud, ton of adrenaline and awesome soundtrack.

I didn't like what they did with M2. They changed that fun in mud glory to some jungle "let's hit that tree" racer. M3 is completely different game to M1 and worst imo. M3 looks amazing but it is half as fun as M1 to play.

Absolutely agreed. MS1 is the best racer in the series. It also actually made you properly manage your vehicle going through corners and the like, learning the tracks and bumps was involved and fun. MS2 flattened was just weird and smoothed out the track itself, deciding instead to make your vehicles turn stupidly slow, making the entire thing just about making sure to preemptively start turning and hoping your trajectory was right, it just sucked in comparison and the readability o the tracks were generally a lot worse, on top of the effects of mud being toned down.

Insideplaystation says DriveClub will run at 1080@60fps.

Insideplaystation is saying missleading stuff for hits.

They're targeting 1080@60fps

http://playstationer.net/2013/07/05/driveclub-q-and-a/

"The demo currently available here at E3 is running at 30fps but 60fps is something we are definitely targeting. Obviously we are a game in development and we are aiming towards the 60fps goal but we cannot make any promises right now. In terms of resolution, the game will run at 1080p native. You gotta love those pixels."

New hands-on from OPM.There is some controller and playroom stuff, however on 5:50 there is some Driveclub footage not sure I've seen before.

I'm not sure if it's mentioned in that video but supposedly the game works really well six axis.

Also, EVOLUTION STUDIOS please make a WATER based ARCADE racer!!! I've said it before in this topic but just hoping you guys see it. A water based game would be a great way to show off the graphic capabilities of the PS4 too.

"Driveclub is a very serious racing game" not if you listen to the devs and what they're saying. It's all just a NFS arcade racer but without the cops - and still, everytime i see a video of someone playing it, they just can't stay on the road!

I've been asking them to make WaveStorm for quite some time now, it'd renew the MotorStorm franchise and deliver something that we haven't seen for a long time now! (Hello Nintendo, where's WaveRaceU??)

Really impressive lighting, the other thing which stood out was the road textures, it's incredibly detailed. I believe when this game ships, it will easily be the best looking racer out there bar none.
I have a feeling that this will take a fairly sizeable dump on FM5. Screen for screen it may not, but I dunno... I just get the idea that a lot of what will make FM5 look good will be that there are very specific conditions that allow it to do so. Shadows, lighting, textures etc. will all be very precisely controlled so nothing looks out of place but won't necessarily feel alive or dynamic (if that makes sense).

Maybe it won't and I'm talking a load of shit, but T10's track record indicates otherwise.

I still don't see how that is misleading? GT3, 4 & 5 were aiming at 60fp,as well.
They can't guarantee it until they finished enough of the game.

^^ You have to admit though, it was pretty hilarious. I was laughing so damn hard at how bad it was at some points. And the crash physics seem pretty solid.

Definitely the best footage we've seen so far. The lighting (dynamic!) looks absolutely sublime, and the detail on the car is seemingly pretty good. The track itself is boring and uninspired in terms of scenery, but maybe that's because Forza 5 has been showing off undoubtedly one of their best looking tracks in Prague.

Hopefully the Evolution theory of cramming in all of the rest of the pretty visuals before launch holds true. That sunset was looking really nice, especially when the headlights turned on.

By far the best offscreen footage available. It has a very clean look to it
What are you talking about? It's the same off screen handheld footage like with every other video I seen.
When is Evolution going to start showing footage that is more than 35% done.

Also when I read Kotaku, I was expecting them to crash in the u-turn section harder than anyone that has played the demo build before.

I was correct.
I'm surprised they didn't glitch out of the track the way they played lol.
