Creepy unsolved/paranormal/strange events thread

Okay this isn't really creepy, but I still want to know why it happens.

Ghost poops.

Why do they happen? Why do I go to the potty and I know I go, but there's nothing in the toilet and nothing on my butt when I wipe.

Is there like some kind of butt demon inside of us?

I have never experienced this. Ever.

I get those sometimes. Only excuse I can think of is they immediately slide right down the drain at the bottom of the toilet.

Saw this on Coast to Coast AM. Thought it was cool so figured I'd share:

Voynich Veracity Confirmed?

Despite previous research which claimed that the infamous and indecipherable Voynich manuscript is a hoax, a recent study out of England has given renewed hope that the esoteric book, discovered in 1912 and claimed to be from the 15th century, may be a legitimate tome, albeit written in code. Using a technique which analyzes the overall text to find repeating and clustered 'words,' researchers determined that the content of the Voynich manuscript appears to contains some form of language. More on the story at New Scientist.

So, I apologize if this has been mentioned and/or it's some kind of internet meme that I'm unaware of, but this seems like the right thread for it.

http://www.dailydot.com/lol/77-days-pronunciation-book-youtube-countdown-theories/

Long story short- it's a cryptic YouTube page that's been up since 2010. Normally it would be a video of a simple word or phrase, seemingly unconnected, helping non-English people to pronounce whatever is being shown. Simple white background, black lettering with the word, and a verbal guide. That's it.
A week ago things have changed and there is now a countdown that will apparently end on September 24, 2013.

In the past three years, this channel has posted more than 700 videos, gained 27,000 subscribers, and even inspired a parody account. But a week ago Pronunciation Book abruptly stopped what it’d been doing and started posting one creepy, cryptic video a day, counting down from “77” until Sept. 24, 2013. The videos show the number and then the same voice delivers a couple of seemingly random sentences and then ominously concludes, “Something is going to happen in X days.”

It may end with something horrific... or a Rick Astley video... but the whole thing is just eerie to me. I think it's the bizarre dedication that would be required for something like this that creeps me out.

What does Creepy GAF think of this?

It's not supernatural or anything, but the Zodiac killer case has always intrigued/creeped me out. The thought that some psycho was walking around in an executioners outfit stabbing people just puts my nerves on edge. I still wonder if he could be alive today.. or even worse, if he lurks on GAF ;O

Also, the D.B. Cooper case was always interesting to me as well. Same as with the Zodiac, I wonder if he actually survived the jump and laughed himself all the way to the bank. Pretty much any case where the purperator got away and was never heard from again always stays with me.

Just wanted to say that I personally love the ones which don't have anything to do with the Paranormal/Ghosts, but are rather unsolved cases, natural phenomena, mysterious stuff (like that pronounciation thing, UVB-76 or the Paulding light, which looks unexplainable but absolutely is). Of course some rather enjoy some ghost stories, to each their own I guess.
But still, keep that stuff going, I love it.

I could only assume that it is some kind of viral marketing but who really knows. Creepy though....

yeah, first thing I thought... but even the initial creation of the channel is just bizarre.

What's the point? There are countless different (much more helpful) avenues that people learning the English language can take to get a better grasp on things. A simple video, with a word or a phrase with black lettering over white backdrop... and to go on and on for 3 years only to suddenly switch to something more cryptic?

The end result is bound to be a dud, but the lead-up is fascinating and definitely fuels the imagination.
The one thing with the internet- it gives legitimately insane people a stage to do some creepy, crazy things.

I saw a post about in in my tumblr dashboard, and I decided to check out what it was all about. It's too creepy, but someone posted this video
Some of the channel's previous videos but in a single one

The pastebin of the whole video and a google docs trying to analyze the countdown

i remember watching an america's most wanted episode when i was a kid where they reenacted the stabbing hartnell survived. scared me shitless, especially since it was a real life thing.

On the night of March 22, 1970, Kathleen Johns was driving from San Bernardino to Petaluma to visit her mother. She was seven months pregnant and had her 10-month-old daughter beside her. While heading west on Highway 132 near Modesto, a car behind her began honking its horn and flashing its headlights. She pulled off the road and stopped. The man in the car parked behind her, approached her car, stated that he observed that her right rear wheel was wobbling, and offered to tighten the lug nuts. After finishing his work, the man drove off; yet when Johns pulled forward to re-enter the highway the wheel almost immediately came off the car. The man returned, offering to drive her to the nearest gas station for help. She and her daughter climbed into his car. During the ride the car passed several service stations but the man did not stop. For about 90 minutes he drove back and forth around the backroads near Tracy. When Johns asked why he was not stopping, he would change the subject. When the driver finally stopped at an intersection, Johns jumped out with her daughter and hid in a field. The driver searched for her using his flashlight telling her that he would not hurt her, before eventually giving up. Unable to find her, he got back into the car and drove off. Johns hitched a ride to the police station in Patterson.

When Johns gave her statement to the sergeant on duty, she noticed the police composite sketch of Paul Stine's killer and recognized him as the man who abducted her and her child. Fearing he might come back and kill them all, the sergeant had Johns wait, in the dark, at the nearby Mil's Restaurant. When her car was found, it had been gutted and torched.

Most accounts claim he threatened to kill her and her daughter while driving them around, but at least one police report disputes that. Johns' account to Paul Avery of the Chronicle indicates her abductor left his car and searched for her in the dark with a flashlight; however, in one report she made to the police, she stated he did not leave the vehicle

that's fucking terrifying, especially the part about the car having been gutted and torched.

I've actually experienced something similar. I was 15, it was 2 AM and I was staying up late playing F.E.A.R. The lights were on. The desk I was playing at is located under a small window. Right as I took off my headphones, I heard a faint knocking sound, but thought I'd imagined it. As I'm putting away my stuff I clearly hear the knocking sound again, so I stand up and look out the window. At first, I only see my own face reflected in the glass, but then I notice the eyes looking back at me aren't mine. Somebody's standing outside the window, looking in. A woman.

I'd just been playing a horror game, so obviously, I take a step back and go "whoa!" My mom, asleep upstairs, hears this, and comes rushing down. The woman outside starts blabbering about the local laundry works, which is just down the street. It's 2 AM, though, so I have no idea why she needs to be there at that hour. My mom points her in the right direction, waits until she's gone, double-checks the locks and goes to bed.

To this day, I still have no idea why that woman was out there. :lol
I had something like this happen. My room was in the front of the house, and next to the garage. I lived in the desert on the outskirts of Phoenix so it's pretty dark out there. I kept hearing something tap on my window, and I had them big wood shutters so I had no idea wtf it was. For like 10 mins I thought I was just hearing things. Turned out to be my friend Melanie, who was drunk and wanted some lovin at 2 am lol.

Well, now that I wouldn't mind.

That's not creepy, that's just gross.

What was supposed to be at that minute mark? I didnt see anything except what looked like some seaweed or something. Also whats with the helium voice?

EDIT: Pronunciation videos better not be viral marketing for a spy book or something.

Then again someone's arm being ripped off doesnt exactly sound spy...ish.

Also I turned on Begotten for a few minutes via youtube and shut it off. I'm not watching that. Still have that stupid Communion book cover image seared into my mind...definitely not trying to have those video images stuck in my subconscious lol.

I had a rather strange experience when I was around 15 years old.

My room was in the basement of my parents house. Picture a typical half finished basement, concrete floors, a few rooms, small windows scattered around, old furnace, you know the drill.

We lived in a heavily wooded area out in the country, many of our childhood days were spent playing in the woods.

My room was being finished and it only had a partial wall at the time. While lying in my bed, I could see across part of the basement to the further wall. Against the wall was a washer and dryer and above that was a small egress window.

I remember waking from my sleep one night with a strange feeling, almost like something was in the room with me. I slowly opened my eyes, straining to adjust to the darkness. My eyes were affixed on the window across the basement. There was something floating in the air, something strange and yellow.

A mixture of confusion and fear gripped me, what was across the basement? As my eyes adjusted, I realized it was another pair of eyes looking back at me. Our gaze was locked for what felt like an eternity. No movement, nothing.

After a while, there was some movement in the window, the eyes bobbed from side to side. I was truly terrified at this point. As I slunk deeper into my covers, I started to see the outline of a creature. It turns out it was a black cat, staring at my while I slept. It ran off and I didn't see it again for many years. It wasn't our cat, we didn't even own a cat, I never saw it before or after...well, so I thought at the time...

Fast forward to my mid twenties. I was dating a girl who loved cats. It just so happened that she had a large black cat (which reminded me of the incident from my childhood). She is a nurse and often worked overnights. I would go over her place in the evening and go to bed. She would come home very late and snuggle in with me.

One night, I was lying in her bed, half asleep. I rolled to my side and had a strange feeling, something was watching me. I slowly opened my eyes to see a pair of yellow orbs staring back at me. Initially, I thought it was her cat (as she often let them outside). I began to feel some relief. Thats when I heard her cat next to me in bed, hissing at the cat outside, hair on edge.

Being more freaked out than ever, I quickly turned to face the other direction. I slowly rolled back over and the cat was no longer outside the window.

I now live in a house with small windows in the basement. Im waiting for the day where I fall asleep on the couch downstairs, closed eyes facing towards the window...

I've lived in a house with some friends for about a year now. The house can occasionally be terrifyingly still, with no other words to describe it other than "dead". The house would simply feel dead.
Particularly the kitchen and small flight of stairs leading to the hallway of bedrooms. Almost every time you walk up them, and there are only about 5 or 6 steps, you feel something move quickly from the kitchen right behind you and up the stairs.

There are moments where you feel absolutely nothing. There are a few days where I've been terrified, for no reason, to leave a particular room because the other side of the door felt awful. I just felt, almost on instinct, like I shouldn't leave thend I was home alone, on those instances.

My girlfriend has seen several things in that house as well. I've only see one thing of note. In the kitchen she has seen a very large black mass standing ("lurking" as she put it) before it disappeared. It was only after she saw that did I mention to her that the kitchen frequently feels awful.

She's also seen a faded image of a man standing in my bedroom one night, not even paying attention to us until it "noticed" her looking at it. I was asleep.

The one thing I've seen instilled chills in me that I still get when talking about it. We were outside on my back porch one night. There is a window to the kitchen there, and the kitchen light was on so we could see clearly into it. No lights were on our porch.

We were talking and I was staring off into the woods, not really thinking about anything I was looking at and just chatting. I turn to the side and look into the kitchen cus the window is right in front of us about 8 feet or so. At the far end of the kitchen I see a face and upper body ( anything below that was not visible past the window sill).

It was black and foggy, and details were not discernable, but there were clearly human features on the face. Clearly eye pockets, a nose, and a mouth. It was a cloudy, shadowy twisted face.

I turn away because my first assumption is that I was probably staring at a light prior and the image of the light probably burned into my eyes causing the illusion.

I turn back to look into the kitchen, and it is still there in the exact same position looking exactly the same. Seconds later it vanishes in a manner in which I've never seen outside of a movie or show. It dissipates like smoke, but not in one direction as if disturbed by a breeze. It scatters gently in every direction until it is no longer visible.

The most chilling thing IVE ever seen.

A few days later we blessed the house with the help of a friend, and it has been largely effective. Though sometimes I feel something even still, best described as something creeping around and trying to lay low. I don't know, that's just how it feels to me in my gut.

I might have more stories from recently but I'll have to think back. Its quite a creepy house.

You think..??!

Haha yeah. I live in an old area of town, the house used to be on a massive farm which no doubt had slaves. After talking about it, the figure my gf saw in my room was probably the spirit of a slave. She described him as an old black man with something around his neck (she couldn't tell if it was a noose or just part of clothing ), and his jaw was hanging down as if he had no musculature to hold it up. He seemed to be doing something to my chair in my room before she noticed him. Her first inclination was to rebuke a curse in God's name, which she noted as odd because her default go to is to rebuke evil spirits in God's name. So it could have been the spirit of an old slave practicing voodoo. Who knows, its interesting to speculate about.

Not only that but I'm surrounded by Civil War battle fields and a history of death. Not far from Marietta GA, which is sitting on top of countless unmarked graves.

A very old, sad, and frighteningly fascinating town.

Why not throw something at the figure youve seen to see if simply passes through or if the figure has mass? Like a magazine or something to minimize collateral damage? I am sure it is mostly because you are caught by such surprise that you dont even think of it at that time but maybe something to consider for next time.

Lol sure.

It happened rather quickly and the figure was inside my house, I was outside on the back porch and saw it through the window.

Moving into a new place at the end of the week, but the new place seems just as weird. Much older house too. I'll keep ya up to date on anything I might see!

Out of the frying pan, into another even more ghoul-infested mansion.

I'm pretty sure ghosts don't exist over here. Maybe everyone died a peaceful death.

Story about an elevator game story in Japan that takes you into another dimension. A girl died as well trying this. The video of her is in the Youtube link with the guy telling the story. Don't know if it's real but its scary to think about. Starts at 10:56. He tells these kind of unexplained stories from japan here and there cause he lives there.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2013/06/20/body-in-water-tank-ruled-accidental-drowning/2443061/

yeah this was in the news a few months ago. It's such a weird situation because of the video and that she was found in a water tower on the roof.

Did anybody saw this footage yet? Probably some publicity stunt but I thought it would be nice for this thread :) Watch the footage and the photos.

The bitterroot footage

I'm supposed to believe that person didn't notice the other person with a camera ten feet from him the entire time? Especially while walking through the woods? That pretty much killed any possible creepiness. Other than that, it was well made.

Anything filmed on Super 8 creeps me the fuck out, never mind dudes in cloaks dropping human heads into ditches.

Best ever: Sinister, lawnmower.
