Anyway really bad results. 5B yen operating loss. 160k Wii U shipped. 3DS down 25% YoY.

They did keep all of Aprils forecasts though.

3DS is picking up great in the west. Those Animal Crossing sales are killer. I was actually doubting that game would have the same impact here for awhile.

Wii U result is tragic, the 3DS has to be mildly concerning although it had positive momenutum in June, and I'm surprised they haven't already revised down the fiscal year forecasts based on this quarters bad results.

They're going to do what Sony does with their handhelds and bundle the numbers together soon. "Look, the Wii and Wii U combined has sold over one hundred million units!"

Sounds impressive, eh?

Why did they ship that amount of 3DS? It sold much more than that during these three months at retail. Probably still effects from Oct-Dec overshipment.

EDIT: Breakdown from the report

Japan: 640k
Americas: 360k
Rest of the world: 400k

Yeah, undershipment confirmed: just to say, they sold 114 + 115 + 225 = 454k in US alone in these three months.

Somebody up at corporate should really consider doing something about the Wii U.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Profit with these horrible WiiU sales ? Holiday season with Pokemon and their WiiU lineup might be strong after all.

Interesting that while overall sales were down dollar wise versus last year at this time they managed to turn it around and make a massive jump to profitability.

Its all exchange rate gains. They're still at an operating loss.

The channel is flooded. Stands to reason they barely shipped WiiUs this quarter. I doubt 2q will be much better. Its all about the holiday

I think Sony can get away with it because they are such a huge business and their statements would be super huge if every division got into details. (Not that I agree with this and they should be called out by big investors.)

Nintendo doesn't have that luxury.
