Capcom has burned any good will they ever had away

I remember buying MvC3 full price only for them to later that year to release Ultimate Marvel for cheaper and no DLC for the original game. That sucked big time.

Sorry people saying dragons Dogma is the savior... the gameplay is boring, the world is boring, the framerate is boring, voice acting is boring, no fast travel is boring, pawns yelling at your ear every two seconds the same sentences is fucking boring. :)

The rare title like Dragon's Dogma is why I'll fight for my right to buy and sell used games. I've done this with EA for quite some time. Both Capcom and Square Enix are getting very close to that same grouping for me.

No console company has taken anyone's rights to buy or sell used games. Microsoft tried and pulled back immediately, so it hasn't been implemented yet. If anything, it's only ever been Sony and EA charging for online passes.

We're done. This is it. Absolute boycott, never buying ANYTHING from Capcom ever again.
I'm fucking done.

They make good games, quite a few actually, so I'm not really in a dire need of "good will". The social stuff is as unfortunate as ever, but I can't say I care about it.

This is what the Dragon's Dogma team is doing these days:

Do the console teams work on social games? I thought they were separate sections.
Also that cyclops has a huge health bar.

Capcom, Square, and Konami, all titans of the industry and have produced mostly shit this generation. Why couldn't japanese devs deal with the HD transistion?

Constantly resurecting your pawns over and over due to their AI not being fit for purpose is boring too.

You made DLC that was already on the disc

You cancelled Mega Man Legends 3.

Bionic Commando. I'm not going to even try and explain that one.

DMC by Ninja Theory?

You take a full generation to make a sequel to a beloved game series and announce Breath of Fire 6 for Smart Phones? It doesn't even look like Breath of Fire.

How could you be so dumb? How could your be so mismanaged that shit like this happens?

I'm done Capcom.

wait.. BREATH OF FIRE 6 for SMART PHONE?
What in the blue #$%&?

If it wasn't for dragons Dogma, I'd hate them to pieces as well, they already pissed me off by letting Alex Jones commission a team with a history of D-tier action in their games to develop an entry in a series with A-tier Action (mostly A tier, if 2 never happened)

I don't understand why you are saying sorry for.

Capcom made some poor decisions this generation, forcing me to perpetually fold my arms and make a frowny face.

So why are people still crying about DmC after it came out and turned out to be a good game?

Because some people don't think it's a good game. Some are also worried that it might kill the series based on how poorly it's selling.

Please share more terrible opinions with us.

The evil of on-disc DLC vs other DLC is all perception based. If you logically examine on-disc vs. on-developer's-server, and ignore what feels better there's little difference other than delivery method.

If you're talking developed before release vs. developed post-release, that's a different argument. However, you only need to look at the disinterest and disdain for Bioshock Infinite's "too-late" DLC to see the predicament developers are in. It should be perfectly clear why DLC is made early. The window of interest is typically very short.

You don't play fighting games.

If a 4th iteration of a 2009 game makes you happy then I'm sure other anti-consumer practices make you happy as well. I recommend checking out on-disk dlc featuring Street Fighter X Tekken and many other Capcom titles.

What a misinformed opinion. How is it anti consumer to support a game fans are asking to be supported?

I enjoyed their Street Fighter 4 series. At the very least, it has provided great Evo moments.

Their greatest accomplishment, by FAR, this gen is Dragon's Dogma. I love that game!

Hints of Capcom's crappiness did surface when they released Dark Arisen (changing the currency for doing things from Gold to Rift Crystals, then making it hard to obtain Rift Crystals in game, but making all new weapons and armor require them, then making the weapons/armor drops random so you have to keep spending Rift Crystals). But the most egregious part is they BLOCKED TRADING ON THESE ITEMS! I have hundreds of useless pieces of gear, in vanilla DD I could trade or give them away. Now I'm stuck with them in my inventory or I can sell the for...wait for it...GOLD which is now useless!

Oh yeah, those Rift Crystals, they sell them on the PSN Store for $2-5 per pack. Even though they tried really hard to f*&% it up, they weren't able to. Dragon's Dogma (+Dark Arisen) is the best thing out of them this generation. I really hope all the stupid things (anti-consumer, microtransaction-geared garbage) they implemented in Dark Arisen are not built upon on the sequel.

To the bolded, what the hell are you talking about? Are you tying Capcom's work with keeping Street Fighter updated to "anti-consumer" How? there's an upgrade path from Super Street Fighter IV, that's not anti-consumer, that's good work. Capcom couldn't have managed the Street Fighter brand any better this generation, in my opinion. There's also an argument that can be made to have the dlc on disc from a tournament perspective.

So wait, as someone who doesn't have either version but wants to play one, is the rift crap in dark arisen bad enough that I should go with the original?

The game isn't full priced if you upgrade it from the game you already have (it would be $15). It's basically just a small expansion, nothing wrong with that PC games do it all the time.

Anti consumer would be releasing a 4th iteration for the full price while not offering any upgrade option for cheap. I see nothing wrong with this and your comparison to SFxT is laughable. This is legitimate support for an old game, it's the best way to do this and keep the game alive for half a decade.

Yeah Street Fighter 4 is actually Capcom's best look.

Street Fighter X Tekken is actually the fighter that should be brutalized in criticism. It represented almost every bad thing you could do to a modern fighter. And it would have been much worse if the fans hadn't reacted the way they had.

75% of my play is fighting games. Capcom is still an incredibly shitty company in a lot of ways.

YOU AIN'T WRONG! But if you play fighting games, Capcom has had at least a couple worthwhile outtings this generation. The problem is they absolutely SUCK at managing them. Without those fighting games, or rather, without SF4 and Marvel, Capcom has been an abysmal failure in generation 8.

The gameplay is fantastic, but that's all that's fantastic about DD. It's a waste of a glorious combat system in a 100% mediocre setting.

I think Cross Tekken's sales were all you need to say about how well it was received.

DmC was a really good game. Don't think Bionic Commando was too bad either. The issue is more that they'd take that risk with IPs that people love. That they end up being okay is almost irrelevant because people are pissed off at the idea in the first place.

Bionic Commando and BCRearmed shit on 98% of the games released this gen. OP doesn't know the fuck he's talking about.

Capcom has been on a roll with shit decisions lately though, but they still make good games on occasion.

Well I can't say I hate Capcom... Street Fighter and Monster Hunter are among my favorite franchises.

However, what they did today is just awful. I can't fathom how they thought bringing BoF back like this to cash in on the fans would somehow sit well with those fans. My guess would be they are banking on casual phone gamers picking it up.

Capcom is a very strange company. Why Dragon's Dogma hasn't made it to PC is beyond me. It's like they ignored what made Skyrim successful in the first place (hint: that community content that gets people buying your game...yeah PC players are generally the ones producing that).

I should have seen it coming when they announced Ultimate MvC...
BoF6 is the mushroom cloud though.

Developers don't just finish a game and have it shipped to the store next day to be sold. When we have on disc DLC that means the content was finished when the disc went gold.

That is true. They could also not put it on the disc and keep it on their computers until later. Is favoring one of those options more terrible than the other? I guess I'm just curious what your argument against the previous post was other than it being terrible for some reason.
