Videogamer has the first leaked gameplay footage of Whore of the Orient from Team Bondi,

VideoGamer.com has acquired the first ever gameplay footage of Team Bondi's troubled next-gen project Whore of the Orient.

The exclusive footage, supplied to us by a trusted source, offers a first look at the lead character, combat, gunplay and city of the open-world action title, which previous publisher Warner Bros. is rumoured to have dropped in late 2012.

Video is here. No YouTube video yet.

Imagine you somehow ripped all of the the gameplay from L.A. Noire, added more combat and shooting parts, while improving none of those elements or mechanics. Whore of the Orient is looking pretty not good.

I would have never known Videogamer were the first to publish this video if it wasn't for that giant watermark.

The game looks... average, but still, it's interesting enough.

The levels look fantastic but the gameplay and particularly the animation pretty stiff. Maybe next time they'll turn up the anti-aliasing when they're showcasing their game. [edit: probably not fair to call them on that]

Most likely english. Setting around HK early 20th century. Reminded me the Painted Veil
Shanghai just before WW2, in the international concessions.

This isn't a showcase. Someone leaked some alpha/beta footage.

The general aesthetic looks rather interesting. Can't really judge much more than that though, given it's a single minute of footage for a game yet to be picked up by a publisher and clearly very early in development.

-coverbased shootbang: check
-batman uncombat: check
-horrible animations: check

And the title is almost as bad as warface.

Seems like a keeper, this one...

Looks like it has/had promise.

Reading alot of responses ITT reminds me why 99% of the time we get no real insight into the development process of games. Obviously not finished, specifically mentioned as leaked WIP trailer that nobody outside the company is meant to see -> omg the animations, the aliasing etc.

Sadness.

This is very clearly a super early build, but of course people are saying "wow this game is dumb garbage"

Hum... Very interesting. So the japanese threat will be there, in the shadow.

Was there something wrong with the video because it felt like the entire thing was in slow-mo. I like the setting though.

This is probably an early version. FPS etc. are going to be optimized later.

Do you think this was an intentional release?

Wow that is LA Noire isn't it? I don't know why, but I never thought to think that it would be that way.

This is obviously from very early on in production and would probably re-use a lot of systems and assets from Noire as a placeholder "proof of concept" phase for the game. Which is why animations and everything looks janky.

Ah, that makes sense. Don't know why I didn't consider that as a possibility for the slow-mo.

Watching it again, I really do like the setting. Chases seems to be somewhat exciting, but the combat and gunplay look very weak indeed. Animations are probably very early to judge.

Team Bondi are technical wizards and scenario geniuses I tell ya. The fire fights from L.A. Noire made my stomach stir from the high octane intensity caused by a clunky cover system and gun play from the PS2 era. The on foot chases that have no challenge or actual platforming are fantastic in execution.

I actually enjoyed L.A. Noire despite its flaws so I'm mildly interested in their next game. Loving the setting but everything is really...rough (which is a given since its leaked alpha footage). Does have me interested enough to want to see it officially unveiled though.

If it ever gets that far.

If I see it, it's basically already gold.
