Interesting. If I were to buy Gamma would I do it right after Beta? Is there a schedule with Gamma that shows this?

I don't think Alpha is necessarily easy, but I don't think it's doing much on the outside. My guess is (as Shaun T says) Alpha is to build your base for beta. I'm excited to give beta a go! One more week of Alpha for me.

Did you take a rest week in between Alpha and Beta?

Insanity is like Plyocide with very few short breaks, every day of the week. People in the video even have to take breaks in the middle of moves. Well, except Tanya, she's a robot. :p
Man, fuck Tanya.

Seriously though, that chick is a fucking machine

I plan to just start it immediately after Beta. There isn't a schedule showing it, but (assuming you started on a Monday) you do finish up Beta on a Sunday, and the two Gamma schedules are structured similarly to Alpha and Beta.

One Gamma schedule is Pure Gamma and has 4 weeks of JUST doing the four Gamma workouts, one per day including Fridays; the other is Pure Strength Hybrid Gamma and it incorporates workouts from Alpha & Beta and has double-workout Fridays.

I've seen comments from some folks that Alpha is too easy. I suppose if you've done 3 rounds of Insanity and are in top shape that might be the case :)

Did you take a rest week in between Alpha and Beta?

Nope. Went right into it.

If you have yet to discover the wonderful world of Almond Milk you are in for a real treat. The unsweatened stuff can be mixed with almost anything and goes into all my workout shakes. I've never been a fan of milk even though I can tolerate it.

I'll have to pick that up next time, for now I bought some low-fat high protein milk :)

Legs and Back. Hardest workout yet yada yada yada, body is a quivering pile of jello blah blah blah.

Wall squats, holy fuck. That shit is for real.

Also, a noob question - during Ab Ripper X, I've noticed on some of the moves I really start to feel it not only in my stomach but in my lower back. Is that normal and those moves just target that area? If so, does that mean that my lower back is just weak and needs to be built up? Or am I doing those moves wrong?

Are you feeling a burn or pain? If it's the later, you should do Ab ripper on a yoga mat or something like that. If it's just a burn, that's totally normal since Ab Ripper works your core, and that includes the lower back.

I just discovered Miracle Whip. Great substitute for Mayo. This, along with some ham, spinach and a whole wheat tortilla is delicious.

Ugh, that stuff is horrible for you! It's full of soybean oil, which is inflammatory (plus soy is thought to reduce testosterone). And a bunch of additives & artificial ingredients. It's about as far from a whole food as you can get.

As far as condiments go , mustard is the healthiest. If you want mayo, make it yourself using extra virgin olive oil and fresh eggs from free-range chickens. I've heard it tastes a lot better anyway and it's MUCH better for you.

It's core work so yeah, you will feel it in your back. Just make sure you are tightening your stomach and core and you should be safe.

Phew, just done with my first week of insanity, tomorrow is rest day.

Feels great.

Also I went with two workouts today, did the regular one in the morning and added Insanity Upperbody weight training in the afternoon since I had some extra energy :).
But I realised that I need heavier weights... Gotta look into that next paycheck!

Not losing any weight yet but I tried on some clothes that are a tad too small and they fit alot better already, so I've probably lost some inches here and there.
Body feels extremly good as well, haven't felt this alert in a long time!

What type of dumbbells/weights should I look into? Adjustable? Solid ones?
The ones I have now are too clunky.

Oh damn. Thanks for the heads-up Steve. Won't be eating it anymore.

Are people losing weight (fat) with T25 in this thread? I've read a few post saying they having lost anything and myself personally, I'm hovering around the same weight closing week 2. Might have even added a pound or two? I feel like I can do more of the exercises but I hope I see some drastic results as I move forward. Starting to worry since this program is a lot newer than the other proven ones like insanity.

p.s. i don't stick to any specific diet plan but i do eat a decent diet and try to avoid as much garbage/processed food as possible

I think it will always depend on where you start from but the important thing is to take photos. A female friend didn't really lose weight on the scales with Insanity either...but you can tell a big difference from the pics and the new clothes she had to buy.

Just finished week 6 and I'm down 2 full percentage points in my body fat percentage. I am watching my diet during the week -- Shakeology for breakfast, lots of veggies & meat & not much carbs for lunch, Greek yogurt for an afternoon snack, lower carb dinner (more veggies and a bit of meat). Not as careful on weekends.

I'm down 3lbs, but I'm not trying to lose weight specifically -- burning fat is awesome though.

Post up a few typical days of what you eat. Really, losing weight is more about what you eat than what you do (hence the saying "Abs are made in the kitchen"). I more work out for the other benefits and so I don't feel like a sloth (even though they are cute).

Started P90X today. Started with Plyometrix because that's the one I like to measure my current fitness level with.

Yeah, made it half way through and had to stop.

I love this program.

So I'm thinking in starting p90 soon and I was wondering if I should modify anything in my current diet? Right now I weight around 220lb, I'm 5'9 tall and I'm eating low carb (lots of meat/chicken/veggies/eggs), so if I want to maximize results while doing p90, should I change something about it? Short term goal is losing weight but long term is getting fit/in good shape.

I'm starting with p90 because I'm really really out of shape and I want to warm up before I go with something more intense like p90x.

How many calories are you taking in?

Hmm I'm not really sure really.. usually a regular meal day would go like this:

Breakfast:
- 1 meat/burger patty
- 2 strings of bacon
- 2 scrambled eggs

Lunch:
- Chicken Breast / Meat / Meatballs
- Salad (Lettuce, tomato, onions, carrots, some shredded cheese) or Steamed Veggies (Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots, Green beans)

Dinner:
- 1 burger patty or Chorizo
- Salad or Steamed Veggies again OR another burger patty or Chorizo

Right now the menu is kinda monotonous because finding things in my country can be a real pain in the ass (and at good prices even harder) but I do love to eat Pepperonis when I get ahold of them, also some avocado every once in a while in the salads. And as for fruit I haven't added yet into the mix but I might add some like strawberries or oranges.

And well in cases that I feel hungry after dinner I eat some nuts (almonds, peanuts, walnuts).

In your experience, as someone who owns a set of PowerBlocks would I be better off just picking up some light dumbbells for T25?

Peanuts aren't a nut! D:

So......I just did my first T25 workout ... hopefully the first of many...... I'm fucking destroyed..... I collapsed mid way lol. But I got back up and finished it. Damn I didn't think it would be that hard. I meant to start Friday but I procrastinated, but I'm finally glad I did started.

My form wasn't the best through out but I found myself using Tanya's modified exercises way more often than expected.

PowerBlocks should be just fine. So far, you don't have time to change weights, so that makes it a bit simpler, although some moves end up being easier than others.

I don't think I've ever been so happy to have a recovery week on deck. I did four weeks of P90X Phase 1 instead of three, so my arms will appreciate the rest.

Started week 2 of Beta (Week 7 overall) this morning with a round of Beta: Dynamic Core.

Beta is the real deal. So awesome. And like Harry Potter says, Speed 2.0 is God-tier. It's my favorite workout, pretty much ever. I watched a YouTube video of someone doing Speed 3.0 from Gamma, and it looks even crazier (throws in a bunch of burpees!)

Quote of the day (from Dynamic Core) -- "I have one more move for you, you're gonna do it for 60 seconds and it's gonna kill you!" (It's a pyramid of side-to-side plank walks, jump up to squat hold, 6 sets, increase number of jump to squat holds each set).

Speed 2.0 is a god tier cardio workout. Plus it has Christina.

This makes me excited to get through this week and start Beta phase next week. Then I remember I have Total Body Circuit 3 times this week. *Dead*

I may have to order Gamma at the end and do it right after Beta. Might as well right? Steve, you get any discount on Gamma if I switch my coach to you?

I'll get a small commission, but it'd be great to be your coach either way :) I'm in it for the helping folks aspect (and the 25% discount!)

Might do that tonight, I wish gamma wasn't so much extra though. Would have been nice if it was included as a main T-25 phase.

Yeah, although I think Alpha + Beta is an excellent "complete" workout.

$59.85 for the DVDs only isn't horrible though, for 4 workouts. I didn't bother with the $119.85 set myself (includes more resistance bands + mini mat). I already have a yoga mat that works just fine for when a mat is needed.

As of yesterday, I have finished with Insanity. Brutal, but so worth it. Feel so much better and have more energy than what I had before I started.

I've decided and already placed an order for T-25. I think and hope that this will be the better alternative to Insanity, with school starting for my son tomorrow and my workout time getting squeezed a bit.

Until it comes in, I'm just going to do some walking in the morning and take a little breather.

Did bulk chest this morning. I didn't have the extra energy I normally do in the early morning. The pizza I had on Saturday night(cut me a break, I haven't had any pizza in like two years) really screwed with me Sunday an this morning. I believe I have total body circuit tonight. I'm gonna murder it.

There's a Tony live chat this Thursday. I hope he officially announced P90X3 there. Apparently, the teaser website that went up was a leak... lol.

I am almost finishing Week 10 and was wondering, what's the best route to go after finishing P90X? P90X double like the guide recommends or should I switch to a different program?

SteeloDMZ

P90X doubles is not recommended (Tony kinda hates that that was added to the guide).

The obvious choice would be P90X2, since it introduces tons of brand new moves and stuff, and it will take you to your next level of fitness.

Semi related but I'm having trouble ripping the P90x2 DVDs on my computer. I'm using Handbrake on a Mac but everytime I play the video file it doesn't playback correctly. Everything is all pixelated. I'm assuming that theres some sort of copy proctection that's not allowing handbrake to rip it correctly?

Correct. I was unable to use Handbrake as well. No idea what the Mac solution would be but I downloaded a trial of AnyDVD and was able to rip them using that. So nice having them all sitting there on my PS3 instead of needing to swap DVDs every single time.

She's in cardio too. The blonde.
:lol

I know who you're talking about now. I haven't been able to remember any of the names in T25, too busy sucking wind.

Anyway - I didn't do very good on total body tonight. Going to have to make it up tomorrow with a strong showing with abs.

While the best option is to constantly push yourself, and move on to new routines, that isn't always an option for everyone. Personally, I've done P90X multiple times in a row, as have/do a lot of others, so that's always an option if you're undecided. It's certainly better than going back to doing nothing, which has happened to me and other indecisive folks!

"Muscle Confusion" is a gimmicky term, but the effect of it is legit. When you think about it, in the course of 13 weeks, you only do Chest & Back five times; same with Shoulders & Arms, etc. There's no way that you can max out or plateau on any of these workouts by doing them so few times, if ever, as long as you're trying to improve every time.

The vanilla version is solid enough to do again for almost anyone aside from the very, very fit, I'd say. In addition to Doubles, ignore Lean as well, as it's really just an easier version of the standard schedule.

Damn, thanks for the info. I used Handbrake for my P90X (and other P90 stuff) DVDs — looks like I'll have to take another route whenever I get X2.
