All this "every XBone is a devkit, etc..." is post launch.
He isn't wrong.

Yeah, and Microsoft announced that weeks ago. So why was this an important "truthfact"?

It's a "vision," Whitten clarified to Polygon, because the system won't all be in place at launch. "It's how we architectured the [Xbox One]," he said. "But it won't all be there at launch."

Curious to see if CBOAT comes back and elaborates on his #6 now that Microsoft has announced their indie policies.

He left it on purpose, as a bread crumb that we can follow. We can rule out him being a MS employee.

Or maybe it's a smoke screen.

He talks about policy. Maybe most people simply didn't know about MS's final policy, and he was wrong.

Platinum game is obviously for TGS or beyond. CBOAT never confirmed it for gamescom.

Indie policy is indeed not finalized, things like "every XB1 is a devkit" is for post launch. Besides that, we already knew MS would "announce" some of their Indie policies at gamescom. They already announced them a few weeks back. I'm sure CBOAT follows the news, so that's not what he meant with his post at all. The policy is not finalized, nothing more. Has nothing to do with announcing them.

Sooo apparently the Forza 5 demo at GamesCom is the old E3 Prague build and a newer build is being shown behind closed doors. (Turn 10 confirmed this).

That gives a lot of weight to the 20% decrease in performance for the latest OS build.
No, it's not. New build is available for public.

Nothing! I said nothing!
I think every Neogaf Approved insider will get things wrong occasionally or be a bit off with timing etc.

I would still much rather have them around for the majority of things they get right than lose them because of the minority they get wrong.

by that logic he can never be wrong as policies are always being tweaked.... This is a miss by his wording. Sorry but take off the rose colored glasses here.

Maybe self-publishing is for post launch as well? He just said the Indie policy is not finalized right now, so some details aren't clear yet. That's true. He never said it is important, he is just sharing what he knows right now. If PS4 is not confirmed for October he might have a problem, otherwise his credibility is still intact.

No it's not, because MS confirmed they would talk about their Indie policies at gamescom. Do you think CBOAT doesn't follow the news?

I'm now thinking one of the journo's who gets closer to both but who's taking a few risks.

would make more sense than an employee risking being fired and sued by his own bosses.

a gamers friend high up journo.

Of course he isn't, but there is nothing released so far to indicate he was wrong with any of his statements.

In fairness (release date and MS policies aside), most of the stuff he leaks isn't stuff that could ever really be confirmed or denied, e.g. the 20% performance hit on the OS version.

I think to some degree people are really into the idea of a corporate spy who speaks into code so they assume everything is correct as opposed to the probable reality where rumors get to this particular person through an intra-company game of telephone.

Um, Microsoft is quite obviously still modifying policies, and we don't know when Sony decided on it's final launch date.

CBoaT is still the most accurate of the prolific Deep Throats in this business. He deserves mad props, not hate.

I think, if not banned, he should be warned and told not to share iffy info again. He has a history of hits but the misses are really piling up and if other people made some of the claims he did they wouldn't have an account right now.

After today's announcements I don't see any indication of the restrictions he stated.

Things change in this industry and they (maybe, i will wait till i get some real info instead of PR bullcrap) probably changed some of this.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Banning him makes no sense. We're talking like, a 95% accuracy rate here. The misses aren't piling up, it's just next gen time so shit is reeeeeaaaal

If we're being honest here folks, while it's clear Cboat has been right about some things in the past, he also says a lot of things that are very vague, and open to interpretation. That always makes me suspicious.

Sure enough though, he decided to get more specific, and boy did it backfire.

Not only was he not correct at all about the PS4 date, he was also wrong that Microsoft's indie policy was not settled. Both of those things were announced pretty damn clearly today.

Often times I feel like his predictions are informed guesses. Many of us thought there were signs Sony was going to launch in October. They never specified a month til today, and that always made me think they didn't just say November because they may have been targeting late October.
