Forza 5 graphics downgraded since e3?

y'all should be ashamed
And one more post for the road. My favorite Gamescom Forza 5 vid, largely because the driver is actually pretty damn good, and it's also a gameplay video of the much prettier track first shown at E3. Tell me this game has been downgraded, pretty please :D

Look at the lighting inside that car. Oh, and dat framerate.

That's an old E3 build. T10 confirmed that the driving rig was the only one running the E3 build, the rest were Gamescom builds on Laguna.

It's rubbish to compare graphics with different scenes.

Psst... compare it to the video in this post. Same track from E3, only played at Gamescom. Sshhh :)

Whatever helps you better process what you're seeing, but that's what Forza 5 looks like on that track, and we have recent evidence to support that Turn 10 is still showing the game looking that way as recently as Gamescom. If that's an old E3 build, then surely the game looks even better in a newer build, because the performance looked flawless, and the game looked incredible. Think they're going to downgrade that for no reason at all? Nah...

I asked about the aliasing in the Twitch feed. Is it because of Twitch and Youtube or are there really jaggies there? We'll have to wait for direct feed I suppose.

Explain this:

iTfyv8FPacDWU.png

That's 2 frames of video being blended together. The camera caught the refresh. LCDs don't switch between states immediately.

I feel like every game shown at PAX this year has been less than stellar. Like the BF4 E3 build or not having the Ryse Gamescom build. I get these guys are in crunch, but at the (maybe) last possible public showing of the consoles, you think they would want to put their best foot forward.

Game still looks good to me, but, the UI looks like a step back from F3 and 4.

Like, that car select screen looks really old. And, the UI while driving, while not very distracting (which is good), feels cold and flat. I know that's not what's being discussed here, but, that's what I took away from these videos.

Yea, do yourselves a favor and watch some actual high quality footage of the game from Gamescom.

or this.

Awesome hood reflections especially at 2:17.

Check out lighting and shadows inside car at 3:17

Autovista (something we know has no jaggies) also had jaggies ;)

The hood reflections look totally bogus to me since seeing the footage where the HUD of the car in front was also in the reflections. It is a cheap visual trick and not effective once you realize what it is.

From day one Forza 5 has always looked like Forza 4 at 1080p.

The game is clearly being pushed out of the gate earlier than is ideal, so a major graphical overhaul was out of the question. Forza 5 will look super smooth and shiny, but I'm equally convinced Forza 6 will show a night and day (literally) difference.

Devs can't churn out games so quickly without making compromises, that's the way it goes.

The motion blur is present in the 30 fps replays, but in game, there was definitely no motion blur at Gamescom.

So is it now cool to do these BS threads?

Take a crappy YouTube screen grab and claim a visual downgrade, this could be fun!

It's obvious what the intent of the thread is. It's in hopes of validating that bogus insider info that they're praying turns out true about how any game that looked good on the Xbox One at E3 would somehow be inexplicably downgraded before release despite the fact that the games were clearly running on actual Xbox One hardware at E3 without any tricks, as confirmed by Digital Foundry and others.

Anyway, finally done with this thread now. It got way more attention than it deserved.

Whoa wait a minute, you said that was a new build, I corrected ya, that's all.

I stand corrected. But the game looked amazing being played at gamescom, and it was def running on the Xbox One hardware.

I was wondering that, what does fm5 do that fm4 doesn't besides the res? I don't care about buzzword about tire physics and drivatars, I mean the graphics engine. The feed from PAX looked pretty drab, but ,maybe it is the course? Are there more cars and tracks than fm4 or are we getting mostly ports of the existing asets.?

YouTube screen grabs in 2013 is shocking indeed. I think a lot of people are oblivious to how bad video compression can be at times though.

The third thread I have seen since morning, the first one was how bad Ryse looked, second was how Killzone had clipping/foliage issue and unsteady framerate, DR3 unstable framerate and now this.

Gosh to think a few generations ago all we had screenshots to gander at...

Probably just YouTube compression, although CBOAT did mention a temporary performance drop, so who knows really. Will probably look fine at launch.

One day people who pretend to care about graphics other than for the reason of promoting awful system wars will come to realize 90% of youtube videos are horribly compressed, especially at the 720P range. Even the 1080P ones are often unconverted terribly. Don't trust a video unless it's clearly actual HD or from gamersryde

A few generations ago developers weren't using high end pcs to bull shot their games

Folks, you heard it on gaf first, oh yes you did: Game programming is not real, it's just a bag of tricks!

If you want to be convincing, don't have the fucking hud in the reflection. It's lazy and breaks the illusion and it is a legitimate criticism.

Great reply, though.

I personally can't wait until someone finds out that the "cloud computing" thing they claim to be doing is really only type you into a type-class of 8 different "behaviors" and isn't complex at all. The more I think about it, the more PR it sounds. Analyzes your telemetry to give a driveatar? I'd be genuinely surprised if it turns out to be more than "you brake later than most others. Aggressive." "You change line into corners when others try to pass. Defensive" and plops you down into a type like that.

Why do I think that? Because it's pretty much impossible to do what they say, without spending a huge amount of resources and getting pretty much nothing in return. How many people out there are able to distinct drivers from each other based on driving style anyway? I'd just make it random, and have people fill in the gaps.

OP thought he had himself another megaton lets-all-laugh-at-the-Xbone thread in his hands.

Considering he's done similar sort of stuff in Driveclub threads, I wouldn't put that down as the motive.

New video posted from PAX today. Game is as beautiful as ever. That looks like the track in question.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9E0gCPWic4

Now that does look better. I think the problem with the footage in the OP is that the lighting in the dashboard looks really flat, but it looks much better here. I did notice some slight aliasing, but that could be to do with the camera as well as Youtube compression.
