Impressive that FFXIV sold that much. Good for SE that they managed to turn that ship around and put it in the right direction after such a disastrous original launch.

Even though im sure lost planet has its 'fanbase' in japan

It seems kinda sad that LP3 (which looks beyond mediocre) has probably sold more in the first week than TW101 will for quite a while.

You should compare the Wii U userbase to the PS3/360 ones

And then think about how much of a niche game TW101 is, so the potential TW101-Wii U userbase gets even smaller

What's the story about the "heatwave" thing?

It was also really hot to the level of heat wave in Japan last week, and it came out in a holiday weekend where people were not in the streets. Even the Pokémon Centers were fairly empty and that seldom happens.

This has an effect on sales. I'm not saying this to spin but as an explanation. You need to factor in all the factors in order to make a determination.

PS4 is not going to light Japan on fire with it's launch lineup. XBox One definitely will not. 3DS is pretty much the ruler of Japan.

Like I said, dead. I recently looked at a few NPD threads from a few years ago and the numbers for the lamest weeks were head and shoulders above today's weeks with big games. It's a ruin moments before it's being levelled with the ground.

When Wii U per people's expectations underperformed during Pikmin 3 week someone on the boards tried to explain in detail that a heatwave in Japan had people not leave their houses which would have crippled potential sales.

That theory went about as well here as you'd expect.

so its kind of an reverse-easter sales-age meme at this point.

only hope at this point is that TW101 gets recognized as a gatcha force type game 6 years or so down the road.

Yep TW101 is sure showing those practically assured Nintendo legs.

30K unite!

pikmin is there

think about the number of the tankobons though there are 108.

kenshin has 28 yuyuhakusho has 19 dragonball has 42.

also why is there no conan, touch, doraemon, gorgo13 and oishinbo? all those mangas have tankobonsales over 100 million

maybe they are not counted as Shonen mangas

Don't worry, Killzone is out in a few hours.

wow

Sony aren't blind, they will have something up their sleeve at TGS that can at least help Vita in Japan.

never heard of this before.

But it hasn't even sold 10k yet, that's beyond pathetic.

but it has. Post #25

TW101 sold 3,463 this week, compared to 6,663 last week.

Does anyone know if that Disney game is any good? It's put up some pretty good numbers.
I'm a few hours in. Very choppy graphically but basically a Fantasy Life (Animal Crossing with battles) clone with Disney characters and your Mii. Rather linear and obviously designed for Japanese schoolgirls (and me) but still rather fun with some amazing music, plus your Mii can do an amazing gay-ass glide which is all kinds of win.

Pleased with Hoppechan's numbers. Looking forward to seeing where Starry Sky debuted and where Kuma Tomo is (almost 50k) plus Aikatsu and Run For Money (probably) still selling away.

It's not a sequel at least. More of a 'complete' version with added content.

i coul live with doraemon being more the kids manga but
why is that kameari guy shonen manga and conan or oishinbon is not? and gorgo13 are you kidding me? touch is like the definition of a shonen manga.

Mpl90

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
What if Vita's lunch is being eaten by...MH4 anticipation for 3DS?

Thoughts:

Good on JoJo, very nice debut.

Wonderful 101 dead in Japan.

WiiU continues to slip ever more down. Will anything boost sales in Japan...not sure as of now.

Vita apparently not sustainable or overly popular even after the price cut.

I'm guessing that only people who already owned a Vita are interested in the new game and that's not a good sign. Jojo and FF did about what I expected though.

Vita doing really bad again, wonder if gamescon's indie only showing had anything to do with it.

The FF14 subscription model is too pricey for me to jump in but glad to see it do well.

Jojo doing great but its unfortunate that it doesn't seem like it can be taken seriously as a fighter from what I've heard so far.

Heard that before so many times!!!

Yup, I've not only heard it but said it myself.

No more though.

Why did 3DS gain so much over last week meanwhile Vita has a nice new release selling and it drops?

Poor Wii U. How much longer can it take?

Only since early part-7-ish? It started in SJ and continued there for a long while. It's still the same publisher anyway :p

Used to be in Shonen Jump, so those are either sales of older volumes or anything by Shueisha is being counted.

so the chart means nothing as it only shows sales of one publisher. there are several other manga series that sold more from other publishers.

i am not saying that jojo is not popular. i said it was kind of a niche existence that had a strong following over a long long period of time (i mean 108 tankobons. damn thats reaching oishinbo) and had a noticable popularity hike a few month back.

Its the same game.
That was kinda the point? Low Vita hardware sales make it more likely that the expansion didnt bring in any new players, just ones who bought vanilla RO, or people who already own a Vita but not the original game, and the similar numbers make it seem more like the former.

I might just be pulling this correlation out my butt though
