The Wonderful 101 |OT| Diplomacy has failed

So someone noticed that the naming in wonderful101 is pretty fun at times?

Vorkken = Boukun= tyrant
Guyzoch = Kaizoku = Pirates
Immorta = Imouto = Little Sister

I gave up trying to do anything clean with the turtles, I just spam hammer skills on them after using a bomb. Their head attack is way too fast for me and waiting for them to do the one blockable attack is a chore... So it's spamming time with them...

Interesting, the turtles are one of the few enemies that I can handle well. The head attack has a very distinctive audial cue. I also use mainly big(!) hammers though, since it's the safest and fastest way for me. There are not many opportunities using Unite Guts against the one foot stomp.

@Ridley: The blocking failing against Vorkken also happened a lot to me at first. I suspect your position was off against the hammer. When it doesn't hit you exactly but you're still too near, you'll take heavy damage.

On the final boss,
I know I'm meant to have more recruits in my team, but I'm stuck at 50. How do I get him to release more to be beaten up and 'captured'?

Or im turning better or the bosses at the end of 004-b and the 004-c are the easiest in the game. That or I love strategic bosses more than the ones where they have to spam attacks while tou wait for ailisecond opening.
I got a file yesterday that said something about pulling their tails. Might want to try that out!

You cant only use the tail thing afte you brake ther shield no? Even then the time they hace stars in their head so you cab attack after using the whip is to small to be really effective, maybe im doing sonething wrong withthe whip.

I do exactly this, and i also hate the head attack, its too fast. I can escape from the other well though.

Yep, it was actually that. I hate his gub attack though, its too fast when you are expecting a hand or hammer.

so what do you guys think about the minor unite morphs (naginata, boomerang, drill and crossbow)?

break the barrier by drawing big swords

And just like that I get to my deeaded thrid fight with vorkken. I hope the bomb helps greatly.

If you mean he boomerang, I'm totally with you. That's so hard to dodge like hell.
I can dodge the boomerang pretty easily, because i see the transformation before the attack, the problem with the gun is that it transforms and fires in a split of second.

That last boss... Damn that was exhausting... I was probably doing something wrong but it was hard as hell imo... Got a consolation prize :(

I don't know what's going on with prologue, pure platinum doesn't want to show it seems....
There's a kagoo regah in hard but not in other difficulties so I don't know...
I wonder too if the camera got stuck on op1 in hard on the bridge fighting two turtles, for other people?

Awesome. Only thing that confused me was using single shots with the gun throughout the fight. I always go nuts with the stinger in situations like that. I'm sure theres a reason though. Perhaps single shots do more damage?

Look at the multiplier

What I found interesting was him being able to get the full 100 bonus for the QTE drawing parts. Specifically with the circle.

If I had to guess, it was more to sustain the combo while staying in a safe spot, since the other morphs get more base points.

Hmm parts where they have exposition while you keep fighting are annoying, the talking heads get in the way, meaning you sometimes don't see an enemy attack when you should. Also makes it hard to keep reading while concentrating on doing decent. Those should have been plain cutscenes... Thank god there's very few of them.

With Speed Liner it really isn't that hard to get full bonus for QTEs tbh.

It's not the speed I was impressed with so much as drawing a huge circle without seeing it

but I guess it's just a matter of practice

If you've been using the stick as your main way of drawing shapes it's just a matter of doing the same motion at a slightly slower pace really :)

Speed Liner is necessary to get the 100 heroes in before the timer runs out.

Sorry, I don't get it. What am I looking for?

I see, that makes sense.

And about getting 100's for the hand, I find it helps if I look at the pad screen while drawing with the stick. You can see what you're drawing there better. Can't say I'm consistently getting them though.

So how is people's preferred way of drawing morphs? I just read a review saying that the right stick was much better, and I saw someone on GAF say it was annoying to remove your hand from the controller and draw, but man, drawing with your right thumb is way better than those methods imo. Is anyone else using the right thumb to draw?

Kamiya and Saur use the right stick.

I never used the screen. The right stick is so much better.

Really sad to say this but...

Wonderful 101 is a real disappointment

After about 12 hours I feel I can say this :(

Don´t get me wrong. It is still a really good game. Some stuff is amazingly well done such as the basic action, artwork, enemies, bosses and it is flowing with creativity. Also I have no issues with the "drawing" (use the stick mostly). I get the correct shape about 97/100 times.

It is just however not nearly as good as Bayonetta, Viewtiful Joe, DMC or even Okami (which imo had real issues with pacing). It is easily the most flawed Kamiya game yet imo.

The main stuff that bothers me are
1. Really hard to tell what happens sometimes. There really is nowhere for your eyes to focus sometimes and I have lost count of the times I actually lost my main character. This has made me jump into chasms, run straight into enemies etc.
Game looks cool but is night on unplayable sometimes. I just guess where I am and hold the stick to the right etc. Nowhere near the control you have in for example Bayonetta. Also many enemies attack from outside the screen!
2. A lot of QTE. Kind of like the ones in Bayonetta, only these are way more frequent and they go on for quite some time. They really makes me not want to replay sections.
3. The gamepad sections (mostly indoor stuff) where the camera and controls are among the worst I have experienced in the last couple of years. Seriously how could this pass Nintendo quaility control?! Drawing stuff feels almost buggy when on the gamepad and the camera... oh the camera. I actually thought something was really wrong more times than one. Thankfully these secions are not that frequent
4. There are invisible walls in a lot of places and it is sometimes hard to tell if you can or should go that way.
5. Platforming is awful. Since it is hard to see the tiny main character and the fast, almost digital, control in combination with a somewhat troublesome camera makes for some bad platforming sections

I finally GET this game

After watching those YouTube videos everything clicked... The game does not really explain a lot of stuff.. Also by unlocking stuff in the shop the game becomes infinitely more playable.

Just restarted and am loving every second.

Regarding my earlier problems with the game..

you actually make sense of the chaotic action after a while (took me a loong time though). The it becomes amazing.

Indoor stuff is ok when you use L to center camera

Platforming is not good but it is not that bad when you learn to identify your controlling character

Overall I say that this is even more hardcore than Bayonetta and easily on of the most original games ever. This is Bayonetta class or even better. Kamiya has created a modern classic here. It is not a game than instantly grabs you though IMO, this is probably because everything about this game is so "new" and frankly wierd.

Every Kahkoo-regah is in the same place in every location on every difficulty (except easy and very easy). You need to actually kill the enemies and finish the mission before going down there.

Why isn't it September 15 yet...

So whats the time yo need to get platinum or a good medal in the 001-C boss. Because I just beated in 12 minutes and the game still gave me a plastic medal in time. With the onrails section and all that shit is impossible to do it in less than 10. Some of the parameters to get good medals seem crazy.

A more obvious one is how they refer to Earth as planet chi-Q. Found that pretty funny.

As soon as Tuesday, it's pretty much fucking on for game releases for me. Like... 5 of them in 2 weeks.

This year has been absolutely stacked in terms of games but waiting for a PG game to release is always tough for me, especially since NoA is so fucking incompetent.

There are 2 buttons assigned to shoot. Press both at the same time and like a maniac and you can get pass that section in 2-3 minutes easily.

On the boss fights where you have to
fight as a Robot (Boxing)
I always lose loads of points in Time and Damage. Anyone has some tips?

I wrote off buying this game immediately as there are just too many games coming out, but I'm starting to reconsider. This game looks great, and it probably needs all the support it can get. :)

This makes me so warm and cozy inside.

I know buying games should not be a charity situation but this game needs as much support as it can get. I want more games like these. I do not want cliche games because they sell so much better from Kamiya.

I'm excited for the game to come out here. For those who already played it, which difficulty do you recommend you start with on your first playthrough?

I usually hate the Platinum character designs outside of Vanquish, but between Bayonetta's new look and some of the designs in here (specifically a lot of the minor characters and the bosses), it seems like they're turning it around.
