Nintendo's previously confirmed that Miiverse will come to the 3DS — presumably along with the Nintendo Network ID system — while the arrival of the browser site has allowed smartphone access. Speaking at an eShop presentation at The Indie Games Collective event at the UKIE HQ in London today, Nintendo of Europe's Business Development Manager, Ed Valiente, has reportedly stated that Miiverse is coming "soon" to the portable, while Miiverse apps will be released in the future for smartphones, as opposed to simply relying on the browser service. Attendees at the workshop from the indie development community have been tweeting live from the presentation, so we'll have to excuse the occasional typo.

The very first WiiU trailer back in 2011 showed the smartphone app, if anything they are being slow about it.

Into my veins Nintendo, 3DS Miiverse will consume my life. Now could someone get more out of them about solving the "problem" with the account systems?

I think the way to do it by Miis actually. Have your Mii be your account, and let him/her travel where ever you want.

Watch it be a surprise update when Pokémon X & Y are released, and then it will take hours to download because the servers cannot handle the power of Pokémon.

In related news, wasn't there supposed to be 2 big updates for the Wii U? The second one at summers end. Has Nintendo hinted at something since they have like 2 wweks until deadline.

The 3DS/2DS are very important for the Miiverse to grow as a service.

Nintendo needs to buy a software company because while they're a great game developer, they seem really incapable of building quality software services in a timely manner. In some better alternate reality they should have bought Palm back in 2010.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

Well, Emily Rogers posted this on Twitter

For the record, I've heard rumblings that 3DS Miiverse/NNID is indeed coming end of October AFTER Pokemon X & Y are released.

It is going to be this. Though all the people buying the Nintendo 2DS won't need to update.

What is your definition of the word soon? The "2014" date for SSB is tentative as far as I'm concerned. I got burnt once twice enough times with Brawl to know better.

And YouTube is coming "at some point". It's good to kinda know things.

I checked my newegg pre-order for the Smash 3DS version, and they had 05/06/14 listed as the release date. Obviously a placeholder. =P

Style Savvy desperately needed Miiverse integration. I have met exactly 0 other people with the game who could appreciate my fantastic sense of style.

Better late than never, though.

I'm also guessing around X/Y launch. On the other hand that kinda makes too much sense.

I really really really really really hope the system update will include some system wide screenshot feature.

Fuck Miiverse we knew it was coming, where's the unified account system that dosn't ties digital software to the hardware?

I think the hope is that with the introduction of Miiverse we would also get the accounts for digital purchases. Whether those accounts are unified with Wii U or able to be de-linked from console is another matter, but at least give us the accounts so that digital purchases are tied to something even if it will be a pain in the ass to switch/retrieve the data under Nintendo's archaic online system.

Reading Twitter, it seems people were happy and impressed with what Nintendo had to say and show at the event.

I'm guessing Miiverse on the 3DS will be launched along with Pokemon X/Y. When the 2DS was announced, the ad video showed the home screen and it had the system settings icon in the top corner along with the brightness settings. Since that system launches on October 12th along with Pokemon, I'd say there will be a system update at the same time.

Well this is expected I hope that the "summer" update brings the big guns.

Also I was expecting a lot of SOON images from this thread, now I'm dissapointed ):

It's not totally guaranteed though, I was almost sure it'd drop with Animal Crossing, considering Iwata even specifically said "Miiverse on 3DS will be amazing with Animal Crossing".

That's what I thought too, I just hope that its held in system memory so its possible to switch between Miiverse and another application without closing anything down ala the internet browser.
