Yeah true, it was soley for context as the percentage quoted yesterday doesn't seem that far away from what we assumed was reasonable fact. It sorta lines up slightly. There is so many numbers being thrown around, 30%, 40%, 50%.

It was more of a question I suppose as while highlighted, were the other 10% was coming from to achieve full 50% power. Its getting a little old now though.

Edit: BenouKat, made a good point, its more than likely just a random assumption (altho I thought better from a relatively recognized dev)

I don't think it's random assumption, Adrian Chmielarz said "DURING DEVELOPMENT" so those 50% came when his dev friends did profiling of performance.

50% means usually (50 ± 5)%

Read it again then. I explicitly said "after optimization for both consoles".

I read it again. "The difference should get smaller due to optimization on both systems" implies that Xbone games can be optimized much better than PS4.

Last time I checked PS4 was still easier to develop for, so this assumption is based on... what exactly?

PS4 @ 50% advantage with no optimization aka brute force as you say.
X1 + PS4 after optimization = advantage turned into a "little" as if saying the optimizations on X1 is putting out more than 50% performance + what optimization PS4 puts out.

How would you posit that if you fully optimise for both consoles the 3D performance gap will be less than the paper specs gap? What you imply is totally illogical.

I imagine it will probably work like this:

Devs brute force game engine on PS4, happy with performance. Xbox One performance lagging; time to optimise.

They probably won't do any additional work for the PS4 version as that is probably considered baseline.

It's an American thing. Geography is not our forte. Like George Lopez told that joke once "my friend asked me where I was from so I told him Honduras. He then asked me what part of Mexico that was!" (to paraphrase)

I would like to clarify that I am well aware that the EU is many countries and not one, and that Honduras is also it's own country. This much I know.

If Americans know anything it's European geography. At least when I went to school it's what they focused on geography-wise when they weren't talking about the USA.

Or they can do exactly what they've been doing for DECADES when they release a game on both PC and consoles and adjust graphics, resolution and framerate according to the power of a hardware...

Edit: The previous image was deceptively edited to omit a post on twitter that makes it less bad. I apologize for not checking twitter myself to confirm this actually took place as portrayed.

After looking carefully at that deceptive picture. I am not sure the tweet was removed intentionally. It appears the app/program used to browse twitter only show two tweets at the same time.

Does anyone the name of the app/program used to browse twitter in that screenshot?

That depends whether the PC or consoles are the lead platform.

Not really, even PC games that were left to die by publishers' marketing departments still almost always look better. Considering how popular PS4 currently is I think it's a given that PS4 development will be very important to them.

Does 150Mhz even make any difference? This seems like one of those things where if I were to ask in the "I need a new PC thread" that if I should shell out the money for an extra 150GMhz people would tell me that it would make no noticeable difference and to save my money and/or to use it on another component.
