I prefer the current 360 dash. And the lack of a guide is disappointing. It's easily the most functional part of the 360 UI.

Probably won't take long to get used to, but I agree that the guide remained the most efficient part of the UI. (Which says something about the base UI)

Of what, exactly? I'll be picking up a PS4 next year to complement my PC and Wii U. There's a myriad of issues I still have with the Xbox One. That said, these types of threads get old. What I've seen of the PS4 OS does not look good, and Metro is already a proven system. The only people who don't like it are PC users that miss the start button functionality.

That has been known since forever. It runs Windows 8 in its own virtual partition, so of course it will have the Metro UI and runtime. And I am 99% certain that it will run native Metro apps.

It built on windows phone 8 btw.

Looks pretty fast. Its a beta so sure it will look different once its complete.

I don't think I've witnessed anything like the level of insecurity, persecution complex and disdain for reality from a particular group as I have recently. It's absolutely hilarious.

They love to take a shit on GAF and somehow make comparisons to previous console launches. None of it makes sense, they just can't handle how poorly Microsoft fucked this console up.

In some cases it's really simple. I come to GAF to read discussions and news. I buy and play every available platform. I can't read GAF news/discussions about the 180 without it devolving into .gifs and memes and I'm DAMN sure not going to go to an X1 specific board because that's too far in the other direction. I understand MS messed up. I also understand that some of these posters shitted on MS last gen too so it's no surprise that MS's bad decisions have turned into "troll-as-you-wish" candy for them. So I'm left to read the first page of 180 news, click to the last page, shake my head at the outcome and leave to go and read about something else. If you only liked PS4, or PC or anything that isn't the 180 then none of this is annoying to you. It's probably really fun! But for a guy that just tries to use GAF as a one stop shop these days it's annoying and...I don't want to say childish. But it is annoying.

Unity already said they will allow free export of games from X1 <--> Win8
I bet its nearly identical.

That would get so many more devs interested

and tbh, Win8 is as clean as you want it to be
and if you actually used it, you would know that for most base users, the start "screen" is hardly an inconvenience at all. So many negative predispositions about Metro

I do use it, and it is definitely not for me. That is why I use StarDock and I don't have to look at dozens of different colored boxes to find what I want. Now that is my opinion.

It all comes down to personal preference for aesthetics, but I greatly prefer an interface like Metro, which strips away all the beveled edges, glossy buttons, transparency, and random swooshes in favor of placing emphasis on the content. The way that content itself is organized (home, games, music, movies, apps, etc) seems logical and consistent with the 360's dashboard, which is easy to use. My biggest complaint about the current dashboard was the use of ads and relegating customization to a separate section, and both of those have been addressed here.

Alternate color schemes for the tiles, similar to how Windows Phone works, would be nice, but the current color is better than the puke green of the 360.
