Xbox One Dashboard Leak - Version 2

ElTorro

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.
Ryse loaded up instantly it seemed. If this is how fast digital games are going to load on the X1 I'm going to have to go more digital this gen.

I'd assume that the demo was already loaded and running. No game will boot this fast into actual gameplay. You can't get passed the limitations of harddrive speeds.

It doesn't really look like there'll be any sort of customization available like wallpapers or themes. I wonder if you can change the tile colors?

I'm properly surprised by how quickly it resumed, I was sceptical that feature would work quite as well as they suggested, but it looks like it does.

Same here and also glad it doesn't put the game on pause if you dont want do it yourself.
Could make games with long match making a bit better.

I think you are right he said in the video he was playing it.

Reasonably surprised with it.. Ryse does look nice and sharp, not to my taste on how its controlled. X1 seems more of the same as x360 but that may not be a negative, they will do well top keep the adds off

This interface looks like WIndows 8 and I'm not particularly fond of Windows 8.

Would love to see more features done with the game in the background. It's very snappy right now, which is a nice surprise.

I am very curious how you snap things and do a lot of stuff that you'd normally use Kinect for.
This sums it up for me.

I FUCKING hate windows 8...on desktop PCs.

I love it on my phone as I find it a very quick and intuitive touch OS. I like it better than Android and iOS on touch devices. I imagine it would be similarly decent with Kinect integration assuming the kinect2 is manageable and not the twitch fest that kinect1 can often times be.

As much as I shit on the Xbone, I like this.

Looks like windows 8. I don't dig W8, but that's because my laptop isn't a touch screen. I can see this working better with glass.

Looks like an overall slick package. That poor glossy console though. It looked like it was covered in crumbs and dust. No respect for it. This video owner can be tracked down pretty easily though.

Pretty much. Those green tiles looks hideous. But I hope we can remove/add as much tiles as we want. Other than that it is indeed smooth in minimizing and resuming game. Don't see any lag. Could be very useful depending on what you want to do. However it was Ryse demo but looking forward how switching performs when playing proper complete game.

As far the snap thing, I guess button above the left analog could be used for that. I could be wrong though.

This has to be resuming a suspended game, not a load from nothing. Even a hard drive can't fill that much RAM that quickly.

Edit: beaten, of course.

Looks pretty close to the original concepts of the dash.

Missing the top level menu navigation in this beta build and that really bothers me.

As someone mentioned before.. No ads yet. Where do you guys think they will go? Mayberry under that what's new section? Also I hope there is more variance in the size you can make the tiles lik in win 8.1

Multitasking will be soooo good when I'm waiting to find a game in matchmaking. But as I said in the other thread, I hate how it looks.

Im curious how background Wallpapers and theme sets will work on the One

I know that they have been downplayed on 360 NXE (unless you love the settings menu)

I am very happy with how they have condensed it, but I agree that some people will not like the rigidity

I said it in the other topic, but I understand the design principles behind "metro" and how it can work well as an interface, but as it is in the video I think it is pretty plain and ugly on a TV. So I hope, and assume, we can stick a nice wallpaper that would compliment the design.

I wonder if that Ryse demo really loads that fast or if he just had it sleeping in the background or something.

..but cry so much I wish I had some
I think it looks a lot like the current 360 dashboard which is my favorite of the current gen consoles so I have nothing bad to say about it. Looks clean and simple and is easy to navigate.

It looks intuitive and easy to use. Design wise I'm torn; on one hand I don't think the metro integration was necessary but on the other I don't see how it hurts the experience.

Metro has a bad rep for being unintuitive on certain platforms, that doesn't seem to be the case here.

I wonder if this is actually going to be like the Windows 8 start screen, and you'd be able to rearrange/resize titles, put them into custom named groups, and the like.

(still not getting the system for a while though.)

UI designed for tablets being shoved into a console. If you want to sell me a PC for my living room just make the damn thing a PC.

I can never really decide whether a one dimensional “line” UI or 2D UI with blocks is better for controller usage.

you fit more stuff on screen with the 2D UI but it’s a bit more complex to visually scan and you need to mix more up vertical and horizontal movements to get where you want to go.

with a 1D UI you can just hold down in one direction to get to where you want to go. less fiddly. But long lists of games or content are unwieldy.

I think the look of this UI is good. it’s clean and it doesn’t look too crowded or messy with a bunch of different sized tiles overloading your eyes. they’re all pretty much the same.

But, I think I still like the gamescom PS4 UI demo a bit more as it just seemed faster to access more games from that single row than in here, where it would need you to either go into a submenu or manually pin things to that main screen
