Turok 2 (canceled 360/PS3) Art/Renders/Screens - Feathers, Scales, and Spikes, Oh My!

Haven't played a turok game in my life, but this looks like it could've been something great. The dinosaurs really do look incredible. Damned shame, what a waste of all that effort.

I'm in the camp of it being underrated. I still stand by the fact that the sci-fi re-imagining for the series was great. Especially after the ridiculousness the series encountered with Turok Evolution. Besides that (Which is one of my main reasons for enjoying) the knife executions and using the dinosaurs to attack enemies for the time was a lot of fun. Also the MP was pretty damn fun to boot especially with the dinosaurs running around the map.

You're not the only one. While it wasn't mind blowingly amazing, it was definitely a very interesting and good game. Some really cool things I liked. Using dinosaurs to fight soldiers, the executions, the dinosaurs in multiplayer. Also the use of jump and a direction to do a side dive. Something I still don't know why other FPS games don't use. It was basically a solid FPS with cool dinosaurs and some interesting ideas.

*brofist* it wasn't even an issue when we were in the throes of character design when it came down to dinosaurs - feathers were always going to be part of the mix.

Bish I hope you get to make a Turok game again X.x Dinosaurs are insanely underused in games.

Playing Far Cry 3 all I could think was how amazing that game would be if the animals you hunt were replaced with dinosaurs. Having raptors, T-rexs etc in the game would be amazing. And the idea of using them against enemies. Release a raptor from a cage and watch it fight an outpost etc. Blood dragon came a little closer but not close enough.

Why are you reading my tag instead of the title of my post?
We've been obsessed with dinosaurs for the past few years. Why won't the devs cater and pander to us ='(

I am not going to lie, all of this had me really excited. I know that the first 3 Turok games on the N64 were not amazing, but they were different and pretty great for that time as an FPS on a console doing something different. But like others have said, the more recent ones were not great, just okay. I played the one on Gamecube, but have not played the most recent one on the PS3/360/PC which I am kind of interested in playing for $5 or $10.

Hoping Armature Studio gets a shot at making a Turok game. That studio is made up of ex Retro members who was made up of ex Turok game devs of the N64 days.

Looked promising. Hate when games get cancelled just because the predecessor isn't a masterpiece. Sequels are known to surpass expectations. Look at the original Turok series. First game was kind of bland, but then part 2 came along and blew everyone away.

I found Turok and Turok: Rage Wars to be amazing. I mean if I played them for the first time now I might not, but at the time, it's not like the 64 was offering many choices and I found Turok in particular to be a gem.

I played the XB360 version of Turok 1 I suppose and holy hell it was the worst fricking game I have played.

This was one game that seriously put me to sleep watching my friend play and then there was the really cheap level were you had to fight a T-rex and we gave up.

I might be for the best that this game got canned. But hopefully the devs have other things to work on.

I played an hour of that Turok game that got released this generation. Still had no recollection that it was a thing until this thread. Man.

Also, too bad about Disney owning the IP considering that they're not planning on doing ANYTHING but Infinity (and Fantasia? I guess) for a long time. And I doubt any developer would try to bargain for the name when they could just make their own Dino game.

I wonder if we'll see Turok return if Primal Carnage on PS4 does well. When I think of underused ideas (cliches) in gaming, I think of dinosaurs still. Turok was one of the few franchises to do it outside of JP games and I really hope Primal Carnage turns out to be awesome on PS4 since I love the MP game on PC and always wanted them to do SP. It seems like a dream come true to do have a dino game and then to have one that looked that impressive.

I think if Primal Carnage does well, we'll definitely be in better shape to see another Turok game wherever the IP may be. If money can be made, you know whoever owns it will be interested.

Most of the art is decent. But the gameplay shots looks bland and uninspired. Also so much brown :/

The remake was also so bland and generic, no wonder it didn't do well.- No surprise it got cancelled.

I fucking feel like crying.
My god, this looked BEAUTIFUL.

I'm in love with the spiked dinosaurs, and man... those feathered raptors are INSANELY COOL.
Like seriously, it's the very first time a feathered dino surprises and awes me.

Also the rest looks super dope, from tribal guys to heavy armored soldiers... Seriously, FUCK YOU FOREVER AND EVER, Disney.

While it's sad it got cancelled it's probably for the best. The 2008 reboot was nothing more than a rental.

Do it over again.

loved the last Turok by these guys, I can understand why alot of people werent the biggest fans, but for some reason i had a great time with it, definately felt that the sequel would be something special and we would see some crazy weapons and more diversity.

this really bums me out, I would pay alot of money to play another Turok on next gen hardware, hope one day it does happen, as well as a good Duke Nukem.

I didn't know there was a PS360 Turok until the other day, when I saw it at a second hand shop. I think it was $5-6

Although I like both Turok 1 and Turok 2 I think the level design in 2 was completely convoluted and confusing. It was almost impossible to know at anyone moment which objectives were actually being completed. Not that it needed modern derivative design in terms of objective markers... but it could have been more intelligently designed. Maps in doom or hexen were sprawling, but would generally have landmarks or room design which made the objective easier to spot and decide upon.

I would've played this. Turok 2008 was a decent shooter, although I could do without the knife kill cut-aways.

Turok 2 was awful. It looked amazing but ran at about 15fps and had levels that were far too big and confusing for its own good.

Could you imagine navigating your way up an old radio tower when a giant T-Rex bursts through the trees making a beeline for you? Yikes!

Yes, I was. It was going in a great direction when canceled. Btw, those cover mockups weren't part of the package, somebody must have put those together later.

Still, from pain comes something cool. Keep your fingers crossed for me, wouldja?

Rights have reverted back to Classic Media, afaik.

Jawmuncher, to answer your question - this iteration is dead. The amount of hoops you'd have to jump through would make it completely non-viable from a commercial aspect, and that's assuming that Disney would even want to give up the code rights. That is locked in a vault forever. Funny, just last week I was out for coffee with a couple of the concept artists and dinosaur modellers from T2 taking about the project...I wonder who released this material. Wasn't me!

So I'm guessing there's no hope for the project ever?

This thread has hit me hard.

We have all been hit hard by such a thought as a game like this getting canceled with next to no hope of ever seeing the light of day!

I was really dissapointed when I heard this got canceled. Turok was one of my favorite franchises since the original on N64 simply because it had dinosaurs mixed with a bow and arrow. In the 2008 reboot, pinning a soldier to a tree with your arrow was always cool as hell, and the knife animations were nuts. Judging by these concept images, I think given the chance, the sequel could have been even better.

If Turok is over with (hopefully not), I really hope we see some type of fps dinosaur games for Next gen. A next gen mature fps/ horror dino game would be awesome. I want to be in a lush next gen jungle during a thunderstorm while being hunted by raptors at night.

I was hoping you were working on something. Can't wait to find out some details. Hopefully soon.

Fucking A.

Turok 2008 is very underrated.

And Turok 2: Seeds of Evil would be the best next gen remake ever.

My man. Yep. Turok 2 was a brilliant game. I loved it.

Thanks for the answer Bishoptl. Sad that its dead but at least its answered rather than hoping for what can't happen. But regardless ill definitely keep my fingers crossed.
