Have you ever genuinely wanted a game to fail?

Asking this because I've seen people say things along those lines constantly. I remember when FF13 was announced on 360 scores of fans wanted it to flop horribly.

I don't like saying things like this because the devs worked hard on the game, but it's certainly happened. MoH Warfighter is a perfect example of this.

What about you guys?

DmC Devil May Cry.

Mainly because it tried to turn the series into something that it wasn't. It was a decent game in the end, but Ninja Theory's Dante is a horrible character.

I was one of those really bitter that XIII was going to the freeedombox.
But I didn't want it to fail though.

Only game that I really wanted to flop though was Blops 2 because of my experiences with Blops 1. But we all know Cowadoody ain't gonna flop....yet

No. But I regularly mock and laugh at Fuse.

Then the realization that Fuse is an actually solid game kicks in.

anyway, I wanted Zynga to fail miserably, and well...that's happening I guess. Otherwise, no. Why do people want developers having the risk of losing their job? Because you don't like one game? It's stupid.

The difference between Zynga, and other developers, is that Zynga had extremely despicable business practices that led them to success.

To this day, I think a lot of reboot naysayers are entitled for the sake of being entitled, and that's sad. Even more sad when you put into consideration that said naysayers may hae not actually played the reboot to justify their claims, only going by sales records and reviews to back them up.

Oh yes, I was praying that DmC would be DOA for quite a while. It ended up being a very average game, so oh well.

Like every few months seemingly. The shitty thing is the more I tend to hate a game the more successful it seems to get, with the exception of Hitman Absolution which was a legit bomb.

Hitman: Absolution, after I played it. I wanted everyone involved with the "new artistic vision" to remember that game with the same sense of distaste and disappointment I felt. I really, really wanted to see them run a negative balance on it.

No. If a game fails then more than likely there are people who will lose their jobs, and that's not okay. No matter how much I may dislike a game or find it unappealing I'd never wish for a game to fail.

"We want the Call of Duty audience."
"We want the Monster Hunter audience."
"We want the Candy Crush Saga idiots."

Only when these kind of shit happens.

Personally, I can't think of any game I wanted to fail.

PlayStation All-Stars had some definite haters from the moment it was announced, though.

Most recently, I've found myself kind of hoping that certain Nintendo franchise releases flop so that they're forced to create some new IP for core gamers outside of the eShop.

Madden since 08 so either A) it wouldn't be exclusive thus more emphasis on actually making the game better. Or B) they lose exclusivity and 2k gets it.

Well, yeah, honestly. I don't want people to lose their jobs, but I also don't want junk to be successful. Whenever a series heads in a bad direction I have to admit I do hope it doesn't work out. If the series is gone after that, it doesn't really matter because it became something that wasn't even good anymore, or if they manage to survive they can fix the next game.

I would actually say PSASBR, but not for the reasons that you may think.

I just didn't want it to do all that well, so they wouldn't try it again, but if they had, do it in a much different-yet-much-more-similar-to-smash-bros way.

FeZ 2.

Dreams do come true. Also, every FPS after MW3. The point and click to subtract object from the screen mentality of the FPS genre is holding gaming back. We need to find better ways to interact with environments.

Two Worlds 2 for personal reasons.
Madden Series for monopoly reasons.
Sim City because Will Wright is no longer with it.
FFXI because I want SE to turn it into a single player experience.
