The Wonderful 101 |OT| Diplomacy has failed

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Guys, this game. Oh my God. Currently on Chapter 6 and I can't remember the last time I was this hooked on a game. There's so much variety and the game is always throwing something new at the player.

Out of all the characters, Blue annoys me easily sometimes despite thinking it would be Green or Pink after watching the trailers. Which character do you guys like/dislike the most, both personality and gameplay wise?

I just now realize how insane you have to be to Pure Platinum everything.
I can understand the fighting to be perfected, but sheesh, the odd vehicle parts....

Yeah... I won't have time to play the game seriously until a couple of months from, but a lot of times during my first play through I was thinking "how on earth am I going to pure platinum that shit?". I might just settle for platinum ranks... We'll see.

I like most of them.

For persona: I like Blue, Green and Yellow the most.

For gameplay: I like Blue and Pink the most.

This could change after time.

Kamiya should make a new Punch Out, my goodness.

Third times the charm, got the Pure Platinum on 1-B.

This game is very very strict with some of the requirements for this stuff. The Kahkoo-Regah on 1-B is annoying as hell. Little trick that I discovered, if you dash before picking up a geathjerk weapon you can dash jump while holding it. Makes you alot more mobile and is essential during that secret mission.

Did you do anything different to move from Consolation Prize to Pure Platinum?

after the section with the football helmet if you go the other way down the street than you're supposed to you'll find a broken bridge, run at it and double jump and you'll get across to the other side where that building is

you can jump over it? why not just draw a bridge :D

Just picked this up yesterday. I love character action games, and I'm pretty decent at them, but I don't want to get frustrated on my first playthrough. Which difficulty should I go with?

If you don't care about rankings the first time through (you shouldn't), normal will mean a lot of dying as you figure things out, but won't result in frustration with the continue system.

I'd say go with easy, you'll have a blast and do multiple playthroughs anyway.

Yeah, I think normal's good. Don't worry about ranking, just have fun.

Buy Unite Guts and Unite Spring ASAP though. They're essential.

Did you ever play the demo? Did you get Platinum rank? If so go normal, otherwise go easy.

Nothing except beating the entire thing again. I'm not so sure the consolation prize was bug anymore though, it seems that hitting retry after dying in a Kahkoo-Regah counts for your overall deaths. I swear I did that a couple times when I did a PP run on the Prologue and it didn't count but I'll have to test it. I don't understand why they don't let you retry stuff instead of having to reload the entire level and then going back in, would make going for rank a whole lot less painful on certain missions. I did manage to recreate the bug with mission 6 on 1-B though but it might not be a big deal, I still got PP even with that so it didn't affect rank.

Just Pure Platinum'd 1-C and that felt amazing, incredible boss fight! Not sure why there needs to be an unskipabble cutscene at the beginning of the chapter though, that shit is a cardinal sin in action games.

Issues aside though the game is beyond godlike, so much depth, so much crazy, so much fun!

Could you please stop this nonsense? Your posts are just one spoiler bar. Can't you at least be a bit more specific about that spoiler?
f.ex. for the second one: put Operation 005C beforehand, then your spoiler.

If you don't want to be spoiled, don't click spoiler bars. Better yet, don't come into this thread until you're done, because OT's always spoil things no matter what.

Just tell me so I don't try again for nothing, did you just went fast and skipped some civilians and enemy recruits?

I just went back to 006-a for that missable figurine and got it. So it looks like I am unaffected by the bug. So that's good.

I saw it fall off the side of the cliff, but I got it anyway.

My wife is going to be out of the house all day tomorrow, and my plan is to spend as much of that time as possible engrossed in this game. The weather's supposed to be shitty here, anyway.

Excite!

Parts of this game make it feel like Platinum was trying to make as big a mark on it as possible, as though they wanted the very idea of the non-Platinum developed sequel to seem absurd. :p

There is no way, Nintendo could pull off a sequel on it's own. They got talent but not for this genre :>

Only the time during actual missions counts for Pure Platinum rank, you don't have to get every civilian or recruit a certain number of enemies.

Does any one have any idea what kind of numbers I need to be pulling down in these mission modes to get Platinum Rankings? I'm doing all the single player stuff that usually nets me the prize. But so far in Mission Mode, nada.

This game.

I just had a nice session where I just did past missions to have better rank/more money.

So satisfying, it's even better when I realize I have enough stuff to make a credit card! :D

I asked that cause if you haven't followed my adventures, I got two times platinum when I should have got PP. So I think there's something more.

Holy fuck at the last Kagoo Regahs on Hard, last Operation spoiler :
the first KR of 9B is cray : one huge tank (the one you have to climb onto), 4 Venus Fly Traps dudes and a 2-3 waves of flying goons with 5 life points, 50 dudes and 40-50 standing around to be recruited.

If really fear for the ones on the last difficulty setting.

Ok, so I'm up to 005-C, and I have a question about the Wonderful Mart.
I have replayed most of the missions and have bought everything in the Mart that I want. I don't have any use for Auto Guts and stuff like that. I have a good amount of money and enough stuff to make another gold card. Will there be more stuff popping up in the Mart at some point in the next operations? If so I'll just save my cash for that. If not, I'll just go ahead and buy everything that's there because why not?

Yes, there will be.

Just finished up to (but not including) 007-B. Holy crap.
007-A spoiler:
Chewgi for best character 100% confirmed, drill hair Nelson for second best, and normal Nelson for third

By the way, the actual "pause" button sometimes has nelson say different things occasionally. I don't know if it can be triggered somehow but I heard one that was pretty funny.
