Once again, only time will tell with the retail release of the game. I hope they don't decrease resolution and suspect that they won't.

I guess, Forza 5 needed to be balanced.

Display planes to the rescue!

Without some HQ direct feed video this isn't something we can really try to analyze. I'm sure a thread like this will crop back up after launch to put this non-issue(I would guess) to rest.

Yea, much better in this footage. Who knows what was wrong at TGS. Maybe the TV, maybe issue with the game, combination of both.. Not going to stress over it.

It's funny how they take that video clip, with very poor tv input settings and act like there's a downgrade. But then ignore this clip showing amazing graphics recorded over the weekend.

The video is in the article as a reference, not as proof. It's about what the Japanese article said. He said the build has been downgraded from the E3 build and he was waxing lyrically about the E3 build so something must have made him write that. You are entirely missing the point by just looking at that poor 720p video and judging what was said on that alone.

Don't see any downgrade by that vid but it's so low quality anyway it's hard to judge. Must be the tv settings. The e3 build is much more visually appealing due to the track anyway.

Let's not pretend you don't have your mind made up regardless.
Lets not pretend your assuming. If its a visual downgrade I will see it and report. You people need to stop assuming because I cant post a damn thing without being accused of some stuff.

Calibration? What kind of monitors need calibration to keep 1080P from looking like 720P?

The description doesn't get too specific other than a "rough" picture quality that reminds him of 720p and aliasing problems. Something as small as maximizing sharpness can completely ruin a picture. It's hard to tell without more information.

I don't know. I've never come across anything like that before. Just let these folks believe in the magic of their "calibration."

As opposed to believing the article completely?

The whole thread is misleading. You should then add the other video of gameplay from this weekend with much better video quality so people aren't thinking there's issues with a possible downgrade in graphics.

I'll do better than that. I'll remove the video so that people can discuss what the guy said, which is the point of the article. He had hands on at both E3 and TGS and no video will demonstrate why he loved it at E3 but is disappointed at it now at TGS. You get some direct feed footage from E3 and some direct footage from TGS and start a thread if you want to go down that route.

This is what is said in the article about the video footage:

Below you can see an off-screen recording filmed by the folks at IGN at Microsoft’s booth. Unfortunately it’s quite hard to judge for ourselves from a video on YouTube. Hopefully the problems described by Nakamura-san are exclusively due to badly adjusted monitors, as what I saw of the game at Gamescom was definitely impressive, and it would be a pity to see it downgraded

Unfortunately Nakamura-san didn't mention a monitor problem, which leads you to believe that a once enthusiastic Forza 5 fan has a genuine reason to be concerned.

But wouldn't footage demonstrating there really isn't a visual downgrade be pretty relevant to a topic that claims there is severe visual degradation? Why would he have to start another thread?

We have seen so little of this game so far that it is impossible to really get a feel for how the game is going to turn out. The cars have been their main focus when showing off the game, which is understandable, as they look great. However, we have only seen two tracks of the game as far as I can tell. The one shown at E3 and in trailers, and the track that has been in the only one demoed since E3. What was shown at E3 looks great, but the playable demo since E3 features a bland track with practically nothing going on.

Forza 5 is one of the games I am most interested in seeing impressions of the final product of just because we have seen practically nothing of it.

Exactly what i'm trying to say. Lets be fair and not ignore this footage from this weekend and lead people into thinking Forza has been downgraded when in fact it hasn't. Does this seem like there are "Severe visual degradation" with this game? Compare this with the crappy tv settings vid.

Because this is about what someone said who actually played the game at both E3 and TGS.

You can't prove him right or wrong from a youtube video. The fact is he loved it at E3 and has said he's seen a downgrade. Why would he say that if he didn't believe it to be true? Perhaps he's mistaken or perhaps as the article suggests, there was a monitor problem; although that's pure speculation on Dualshockers part, which by all accounts (and judging by X1 fans) isn't a reliable source anyway.

This is how it's gone so far:

It was nonsense because people thought it was a Dualshockers article:

Lol,
"Dualshockers.com"

But now it's nonsense from the Japanese site because:

Lol,
"Dualshockers.com"

No amount of youtube videos will sort that out. Only soul searching will suffice.

Just watched the video and it looks great. Doesn't look different from what I remember at E3. Shrugs

You're remembering E3 with rose-tinted glasses. It's the nostalgia factor, dude.
I didn't see much difference either, great as always.

It shouldn't be hard to run a racing game at 1080p on next gen hardware. PS3 has had quite a few 1080p racers in its lifetime. Don't see why MS would need smoke and mirrors here.

Doubt there is much to worry about, but if it Is downgraded, the MS guys shouldn't bother to try and explain. It will be a bloodbath.

Another fine troll thread.

This is the same build as pax and gamescon and 1 persons "opinion" not based on any facts.

Maybe they are now using ACTUAL MS hardware, not dev kits, PC's ?

Forza 5 was NEVER on a dev pc, its always been shown on XBOX ONE hardware.

But what ever continue the FUD

OMG look at the defense squad in full effect, I was speculating not stating facts. Who knows what it's suddenly running like shit, seemed a plausible theory to me.

Are you kidding? I don't think Forza will suffer a downgrade in resolution or graphics, but assuming it does, coming out to explain or clarify is the first thing they need to do.

Petrolheads will rip this game into shreds if MS tries to sell it as more than it actually is. My Xbox buying friends are already pissed as hell that they have to buy a new wheel to play Forza 5.

Its been reported since E3 that Forza was always on actual hardware. And this is 1 guys opinion, more than likely based on the fact that its using laguna seca one of the least interesting tracks visually in all of gaming and not the Prague track from E3.

Your posting is coming across as antagonistic. First off whatever you play in november has nothing to do with his opinion on the two builds that this writer has played. Nor is it lying if the builds happen to be different than the final game. And everyone isn't even close as taking as a fact since there is several posts stating not seeing a downgrade. So yeah, let's not pretend someone who is committed to spending $500+ on a x1 and forza 5 on launch with the first post "Let's see who is lying" as someone who isn't looking to prove this writer wrong or have any bias.

I really hope, rather selfishly, that FM5 ends up being 'meh'. I really don't want to buy an Xbone.
Keep on thinking like that for every exclusive and you'll turn out bitter and cranky, either ecause you can't play the games or because when you finally buy the console all your favorite games will have flaws.

I don't know too much about graphics. But, I do know this doesn't give me that warm fuzzy feeling that Drive Club does. It might just be the... everything. Is there any direct feed Forza footage?

not much. but here is off cam 1080p 60 fps video. lacking real time lighting of DC, but with very detailed backgrounds and at twice the framerate with much better physics. very impressive IMO.
