Kind of funny to me how this is turning out. Months ago everyone was making fun of the PS4 exclusives for not looking so good despite the more powerful hardware, but they kept improving as months went on. The XB1 exclusives all seem to be getting downgrades of some kind as time goes on.

Yeah, that's the funny part.

It's definitely the bland and boring 'dry lagoon'. The visuals from Prague E3 videos rivals those of PCARS. We'll see.

I was at TGS and saw both Drive Club and Forza, I have to say that my impression was Forza was the better looking game, I didn't notice any of the visual issues mentioned in the op. Drive club however seemed to be noticeably dropping frames and the cars edges didn't seem as clean and crisp, also the environments although densely populated seemed low poly, I remember the trees looking and animating quite poorly ( it was a forest stage, not sure the name).

Unfortunately Nakamura-san didn't mention a monitor problem, which leads you to believe that a once enthusiastic Forza 5 fan has a genuine reason to be concerned.

Actually, he did point out a monitor problem.
モニターの調整ミスについては残念だった

Also, the Forza 5 product manager confirmed the monitor problem, not that it has been downgraded:
「Forza 5」プロダクトマネージャーの南雲聡氏にモニター問題について直接尋ねたところ、その事実は把握しているということだった。

Google translate should give a sufficient translation of the above lines.

He points out the TV calibration problem in the booth. The "look like 720p" comment came from his time with it in the Press Room, not the booth, which he said was in worse condition than those at the booth. So while he did say it was "degraded" as compared to E3, he attributed all these to the fact that none of the Turn 10 staff were around to set things up.

What the writer was worried about wasn't the downgrade, but rather whether "Forza Film Speed" can make it to launch, and about the lack of information/details about the other announced features despite only having 2 months left until launch. He just finds it a shame that it wasn't set up properly.

Keep on thinking like that for every exclusive and you'll turn out bitter and cranky, either ecause you can't play the games or because when you finally buy the console all your favorite games will have flaws.

Yeah.. Titanfall looks interesting, it'll come to PS4 (maybe even PS3), Dead Rising 3 is almost just as likely, Capcom, as we all know, likes money, other than that I think you'd be hard pressed to find a game on Xbox One as compelling or unique as Second Son or Shadow Fall which would make many un-able to resist buying an Xbox One.

Forza has been consistently boring, since it's inception, not that GT is much better, but there is a certain approach with GT, that Forza cannot replicate.
Driveclub is an anomaly right now, I loved the Motorstorm games, but not sure how "sim" I'd want Evolution Studios to go.

I would have been happier with a new Motorstorm, but from what I have seen from Driveclub, they are hitting a lot of the right notes.

The Colonial Marines Effect or The Deep Downgrade. I think if it goes to 720p just to stay at 60fps it is fair. If it makes the game feel better especially in a racing game I am all for it. when it comes to racing control comes first eye candy comes second.

What I am troubled about is if MS is doing this on purpose showing souped up demos to deceive the media and potential customers. It is like kinect all over again. This is one tiny reason I am getting xbone later as I just do not believe the lies and am taking a wait and see approach.

I don't see anything different in that video that I have in other videos (in other words it still looks good), also it's off screen footage so really not fair to judge.

The build at TGS was the same build from Gamescom and PAX. Exactly the same.

Final game looks even better. But everyone is trying to ship, which is why most everything I saw at TGS was the same builds used at other shows.

On a side note, how can you really judge a downgrade based on that awfully compressed off screen YT video? Such videos are never good indicators of a games visuals irrespective of the platform or game. Doesn't help that the particular video linked is worse quality than most.

it wont look like that at all.

Doubt it'll ever look as good as that tech demo....key word...tech demo. But it will probably look good enough that no one cares. I'd imagine there will be games post launch cycle, and late cycle that do match and even best the visuals shown in that tech demo though. So all is not lost.

How....do you know this?
Honestly, elaborate, because you potentially have information which could change this entire thread.
Which conventions were you at, just how GOOD will the final build be?

gimme that insider sauce bro!

EDIT: haha i Still await that sauce.

I cleaned up the google version a bit and posted on page 3, should be close to accurate. You can see he mentioned the monitor, something about other modes not being shown, and the film speed.

Even though there is only just two months until the release of the North American version, in this exhibition, not mentioning the monitor adjustment mistake, it was worrisome, the multiplayer mode and recording vehicle model, a smart match with the cloud server still were not to announced as well as details of the collaboration with TOP GEAR. "Forza" fans still want to know.

There is more. The cloud server running data of friends to AI cars is limited to traveling in four although it was announced at E3 still has not been shown. "Forza" series, is known to not give the information hard until just before release, but I mean, they don't do anything to verify the commitment they made at E3, not visiting any of them even once, suggesting how the development has found difficulties in the above areas.

It should be noted that, in the video that you fall into a strange sense of the video of the game is moving in reality by utilizing the technique of film speed. A new trailer that has been published in accordance with the timing of the Tokyo Game Show, "Forza Film Speed" is what Forza was promised to look like, but I wonder if there is really time for the launch of North America to look the same. While I have inflated expectations as one of the "Forza" fan, I'm a little worried.

The lighting is way over the top, also what happens at 1:22 and 1:42? Is it the lighting glitching out or a flash from someone in the room?

For a second I thought there was some dynamic lighting going on. lol What's going on with that?

Ah, Albert is here to tell us all nothing to worry about. Good, I will be playing this at my brother-in-laws house, I think. Are they ever going to get around to adding dynamic lighting or weather? Just didn't see any in the videos.

Which part? The part about it being the same demo? Or the part about the final game looking better?

I know the first part, first hand. I've been at all the shows, I know all the setup teams. I know it's the same build.

On the second? Because Phil told me. I haven't been back in Redmond long enough to see the latest first hand, but he was telling me the final game is shaping up really well.

Well, I can read Japanese (N2) so I know that he did say that it is a monitor problem, but it doesn't seem like many people will take what the original says into consideration...

Nakamura-san continues by saying that the quality simply wasn’t the same as the original Forza 5, and the version he tried at Tokyo Game Show did not reach the level of the screenshots of the game at all. He actually asked a the Japanese product manager for the game bout the problem, and all he was told is that the folks at Microsoft are aware of the problem.
I find the dualshockers article rather dishonest. It clearly says in the original article that he asked specifically about the monitor problem, but they removed that bit in their article, leaving only a general problem and make it seem like there was an admission to a downgrade.

As it should be and as is usually par for course with these sorts of things, except for with a select few instances. Good to know either way.

On a side note, Albert, can you pleaaaase try and push for Forza 6 to have dynamic time of day and perhaps weather too? Just forward along the message that every one out there would love to have these extra features, so if they could get them in, it'd make the next release that much more appealing.

Did the TGS demo actually look different for technical reasons outside those of the Xbox One (ie, cables, monitors etc), or is the guy from Game Watch losing his mind?

Was the E3 build of F5 different from the Gamescon/PAX/TGS one? <- main question to be honest.

Why would the Game Watch author think there was a downgrade from the E3 -> TGS demo? simply a subjective situation? (ie: different course/time of day.)

I don't expect you to actually comment on the sanity of any journalists haha

EDIT: Sorry if I'm not making 100% sense, it's 3 am in Canada.

They did it before. None of the actual quote lined up with the article title.

Another fine troll thread.

This is the same build as pax and gamescon and 1 persons "opinion" not based on any facts.

Forza 5 was NEVER on a dev pc, its always been shown on XBOX ONE hardware.

But what ever continue the FUD

Just to play devil's advocate, it wasn't shown on retail hardware as it didn't exist at the time. So it was running on dev kits. Today we just found out that dev kits have the ability to overclock the CPU and GPU and enable the 2/14 CU disabled for redundancy in retail hardware, so the fact that it was shown on a dev kit doesn't mean it's exactly the same as retail hardware, the recent downgrade of Ryse should make that clear.

I'm not even saying it's particularly wrong if they did that. They might have been trying to show how the game would look once it was optimized and finished so they upped the hardware a little. Maybe right now it's running on the same spec as retail and when they're done it might go back to E3 level.

That's just one way it could have gone.

This has come to my attention.
I still wonder why Game Watch thinks the E3 build was different.

I really don't know. When I had time on the floor I was checking out the.. ahem... competition. Stuff I don't get to see normally.

I had the same build as was on the floor in the Conference rooms, so I know it was the same, but I didn't see the issue described in the article.
