this is definitely the most frustrating Kamiya game I've played. So many design decisions that make me want to break my controller.

Like what? If there is one thing I learned with this game is that if you are doing something that is not working you are probably doing it wrong.

Don't be hasty

The game is pretty special but that can't dismiss some genuinely frustrating moments due to design decisions. For me, the biggest culprit is the damn camera and not being to make out what the hell is going on at points.

No one is the same and it's unfair to just throw out a "well, you're doing wrong!"

I was playing a mission last night (3 something) and the camera angle pans out to show this boss powering up his punch, and my team is so tiny on-screen I can't even see where I am supposed to go or what to do before I get one shot. The camera angle is also pretty bad at conveying the area I'm supposed to be able to see.

There are other times where my team is obscured by an object or something in the foreground and I get hit.

I'm using the pro controller though, if that matters.

yup agentotaku, that's probably my biggest gripe (and it gets old quick).

Oh yeah, how do I drop items after picking them up?
Stuff like the scorpion tail and baseball bat?

I picked up the scorpion tail, which did a ton of damage, but then I got killed cause I couldn't run.

Oh, sorry! It was an honest question. If he/she tells us what is frustrating someone might be able to help with a tip or two.

I was just saying that there are some things people find frustrating but can be really easy as soon as you realise what you have to do. Didn't mean to be rude or anything. Sorry.

shake the left stick left and right. info like that tends to be in the quick help menu.

Are people having trouble with the closed-in camera not hitting L?

That basically shows you the entire room you're in.

If you're still getting hit from off-camera even with the zooming out, you should stop letting enemies get off camera. It is a game mechanic that you need to balance all the enemies on screen, not just focus on one.

Is there a place I can see the tutorial tips if I missed them the first time around? I missed how to make two separate unite moves and it's really hindering how well I do. But I cant find anywhere to find the tips in the menu, but I figure I must be overlooking it.

The game has a lot of audio cues too. You can usually hear a cannon getting ready to fire or something even if it's off-screen.

I do think this is probably Platinum's hardest game on Normal though. It was a good idea to use the continue system they have.

@Busaiku: Wiggle the left analog stick really fast to drop it. Wish you could just click the stick in like Bayo to drop them.

The camera certainly isn't perfect, but I've yet to play an action game that is devoid of camera problems. It just seems to come with the territory and I almost don't even notice that issue anymore with these games, unless it gets REALLY bad of course. With that said, I haven't had any real issues with the camera in this game yet, which is surprising to me.

Every time I start a mission, hitting L is the first thing I do.

Makes it so much better when it is zoomed out. Should be default.

Instead of completing the drawing with A, hit X.

On the menu you can see some of the techniques and skills you have and how to utilise them. The one you want doesn't appear, though IIRC. But all you have to to is draw a new symbol and press X instead of A.

Just finished the falling statue level. Loving this game. Obviously the game takes inspiration from VJ, I like that hardcore, manic Japanese action game that requires some skill to proceed.

Bit dissapointed that Nintendo didnt ready this, Pikmin 3 and Wii Sports Club for launch to go with Zombie U.

Nintendo with this HD power is fantastic. Come on Nintendo, bring more games, sort out your UI (only thing thats missing is speed) and go balls out online.

I don't count on this too much anyhow, the grandiose music, effects don't mix well, this game is a brouhaha, hard to find a balance between the two.

On another subject, I remember having the camera glitch on the last bridge battle in 001-A hard, it really is this section of the game in all difficulties that wasn't tested.
If you go to the top operational border the camera will got stuck... you patch me that too!

Operation 4 was glorious.

I really really like the
Vorkken
fights. Reminds me of the Jeanne fights in Bayo (which I looovee)

I just hit a very interesting glitch. During the loading time I was buffering a wonder-line and for some reason when I activated it the game went into ULTRA slow mo, I'm talking 2% regular speed here. It kept loading normally so I didn't think much of it but now my guys are the Wonderful 002% in 3-C. I kinda want to take a video of it because I don't know just how crazy this is going to get lol.

Happened to during the
volcano escape
Fucking up my grade (time still counts normally). You can fix it selecting another character to be leader.
And yes, it happens when you try to draw a wonderline while loading.

For the Uniting Guru bottle cap, what does it mean by "Land 10 types of Unite Morph attacks in a single combo"? I assumed it meant Unite First Rising > Unite Fist Stinger > Unite Gun attack > Unite Gun Rising > Etc., but I'm sure I did more than that in the last fight and I didn't get it.

It's materializing 10 unique morphs during the same combo, so you'll notice it's impossible with the seven main ones... :hint

I like how Wonder-Makeup is actually a guy.

Help!

In the second part of Operation...4 I think? The one you get Wonder White.

After
Red and Blue fight, you're controlling Red and there's that gear...uh, how do you turn it? It says to press "Y", but nothing's happening, Red's just grunting

Also, I'm glad this game is forgiving when it comes to how Continues work. I've died seven times in this mission. :(

I don't know which track I like better. Tables Turn vs. Climatic Battle. For some reason, I didn't expect there to be a "final phase" track for the boss battles in W101. I thought that was going to be just a Bayonetta-thing. Best part of Tables Turn is from 46 seconds to 1:08, by the way. No arguments allowed beyond this point.

This part can become glitched. If holding Y isn't working, you'll have to restart from the last checkpoint and do the fight over.
That glitch had me stuck for 30 minutes trying to figure out what I was supposed to do.

How do you restart from a checkpoint?

And fuck, I hated that fight. Really obnoxious sequence all around, even if it's neat story wise.

If they blink, do you punch the opposite eye's direction?

Just finished the game on normal. I can't believe Kamiya outdid himself after Bayonetta. One thing this game lacks though is the OST. Bayonetta had a much more memorable OST. This is easily my best game of 2013, with MGRR in the second place. Platinum knows how to capture the essence of a good video game, and surprisengly, this time they actually made a game with a good story.

I really hope Nintendo ignores the sales and greenlits a sequel to this game.

You need to dodge before punching. I'm not too sure which direction you need to dodge anymore but it's always the same so it shouldn't take you long to figure which one it is.

Wooo, finished 3-C Pure Platinum'd!

This one was a bastard, the intro alone is rough, dodging all this stuff is really tricky. Thankfully the boss himself is a pushover, felt good to reflect his galaxy spheres right back in his face!

I also just bought a pro controller and my god the analog sticks are SO MUCH better than the gamepad ones. I mean it's to the point where I'm wondering if my gamepad is busted or something. I'm so glad I bought one, I'm playing much better on it and it's much more comfortable anyway. Just wondering if anyone else notices a drastic difference in terms of stick resistance between pro controller and gamepad. I'm a bit worried honestly...

When you smash the drone with the final hammer hit to drive it like a nail into the boss and the 1-DOUBLE-0 blasts out I always lose it. So hype!

No you just have to recruit them all across different playthrough, like I said I got it when I recruited the group I talked about in my previous post which is at the very start of the chapter's first level.

That turned out to be the place I was missing, thanks a lot!

I also managed to unlock
Luka and I am one bottlecap away from unlocking Wonder Red (Emeritus) Just need to wreck 3000 things.

Man, I'm messing around with them right now and pad pro must have atleast 50% more resistance in the sticks. I wish I could try another gamepad to see if mine is messed up but I doubt it, both sticks have the exact same resistance.

Maybe you're just not sensitive to the differences?
