As a game it looks fine, but it has absolutely nothing to do with Legacy of Kain. The degree to which they've gotten the art direction wrong is astounding.

Also I'm sure someone who is more versed in the series lore might be able to clarify, but wasn't Raziel's clan wiped out immediately after Raziel himself was cast into the lake? If that's the case how is his clan in this game with wings? Raziel explained that the rest of a vampire's clan evolved the leader's gifts after the leader himself. Raziel was killed immediately after getting his wings.

Wait... what? I missed that.. O-o So, not only they lost the story in-game, but they disregard most of the story that was there?

Correct.

My main problem is how monstrous the vampires are here in terms of aesthetic. They were meant to be very gothic and human. The reason they looked like they did in Soul Reaver 1 is because they'd evolved so far.

I wanted to be hopeful about this venture, but goddamn does that game look rough. I'm not going to nag about some of the iffy animation too much as it's instead the art style which is making this project tough to accept.

Kain never confirmed or denied that. During an interview with Amy Hennig in 2002, she was asked about it and responded, "This is currently unrevealed." http://forums.eidosgames.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=169

As for the other Razelim having wings, it could have been possible. There's an unused artwork of an enemy vampire from Soul Reaver 1 that was probably meant to be a devolved Razelim.

I know, I know... Not worthy of the Kain franchise.

Still- It's something. If it gains any traction SE will milk it for all it's worth. There's still hope!

And it doesn't look that bad... Could even be interesting if it's executed well.

As a huge fan of the Legacy of Kain series, this absolutely breaks my heart. I have been wanting a new game in the series for a decade now, and they give us...this? I can't even comprehend the kind of person it would take to think it would be a good idea to resurrect a story driven single player series with a F2P competitive multiplayer game.

WTF!?

I am seriously just sitting here shocked...
