The Wonderful 101 |OT| Diplomacy has failed

Nintendo's Pro Bono PR Firm
My Wii U Gamepad got stolen yesterday. I was on Op 9. Bought a new one on ebay but it won't get here until Monday most likely. And the game won't let you even play with a CC until you navigate the start menu with the gamepad. This sucks.
That sucks... How did it happen?

I do have to admit that I do get frustrated when I'm playing well in the main gameplay and some finicky jump section in a QTE or one of the shmup sections just murders my rank.

I hear ya, man. Also, does anyone know if those "quick-deaths" count as continues? Like, say your escaping a boss or something, and he gets you or you fall in lava or something and the game quickly reloads to the checkpoint and you take some damage. Usually, these don't seem to count as continues for me, but I swear yesterday I was playing on 005 and ended up with a consolation prize because I "continued" a few times, even though I swear I didn't.

Yeah I thought that was a weird decision to do.
I love the game but the flying sections annoy me. I would have PP 005C already if wasn't for the last section always getting hit. The flying sections in the last operations aren't very fun for me either.

I actually don't mind those because they're consistent when you break down the patterns although they are kind of a slap in the face if you did good in the rest of the level and weren't prepared for it. Also really liked perfecting the shmup section in 6-B, there's a surprising amount of depth to it.

It's just the time requirements are ridiculous on certain missions, I'm thinking of trying the double damage custom badge next to see if that can save me a few seconds.

I just faced a big turn-off before GTAV came out, still not played since.

I'm at 005-C (I think...underground\lava level.) and there's that giant robot that just keeps coming back. Everything go well until there's a QTE involving Wonder-jumps where, for the first time, I faced a glitch where I just fell through everything ending up in endless black, going back to the main menu.

A second time, I succeeded the wonder jumps, but then I ended up on the robot, there was a 'open' command during a few seconds but it disappeared before I pulled out the claws, ending up on the robot not being able to do jack shit. I stopped after this.

Anyone faced the same stuff?

No but you should try again because you're about to see some amazing shit. The glitches do suck though, I hear ya.

Man I am totally fucked whenever two of those tank enemies show up. Even better that one of them is shooting you from off screen most of the time. Any tips?

Definitely. I'm pretty good with the fights but I'm absolute rubbish at all the mini-games apart from the
Punch-out ones

I was under the impression that Vorkken was independent from GEATHJERK.
I was really confused when he was just serving them.

Listen to the audio cues. All of their attacks have very distinct windup sounds. You should be able to beat a tank without ever even looking at it.

I can't seem to get the fucking "Nice Try" bottlecap. It either requires more than ten (typo) or my game is glitched and I don't want to have to restart.

Bought this game from Target for the B2G1 but I'm not opening it yet. I played the demo and couldn't get past the part where you go into the warehouse. I guess you try to grab the knobs and turn open the door? I couldn't get it to work and got impatient and quit the demo. I must have been missing something. As childish as it sounds it kind of turned me off to the game xD but I love Platinum Games.

I don't want to open the shrinkwrap yet. I'm hesitant. Please reassure me that this game is worth opening the shrink wrap. I see the comments in here saying it's amazing but I don't really see how/why from the little I played of the demo. Nothing really clicked as awesome from the demo. In fact it felt not nearly as interesting as Bayonetta or Metal Gear Rising.

For that, whichever screen your turning the knobs on, look on the other screen to see the number you're getting.
The door had the number you needed to open it.

I just don't like it cause I usually do very well in the combat sections but those section tank my score pretty badly.

Also it seems the glitch I had in 006A disappeared. Just like before. I went to 008 and the enemies didn't spawn... right away. I left the game running for a bit and they appeared. Wonder if it was some weird loading glitch?

You mean the warehouse didn't blow your mind? It's only a miniboss, but the final warehouse boss blows both Jubelieus and Armstrong out of the water.

Beat it. I am so fucking smitten and elated with this game. It came with some frustration, but the universe, the characters, story, writing, overall gameplay, soundtrack, bosses, it's just one of the most satisfying games I've played in a long time. I don't remember the last time I was this satisfied and into an original IP. This game needed more marketing attention as I feel like it's worth owning a Wii U for period. I love stuff like GTA like the next person, but games like this deserve just as much attention. This better not fade into obscurity. It had better not.

AMEN havent finished it but so far game is insane... in a good way. just one of the best games ive played in a long time.

I seriously felt like a kid playing through this. It feels like a Nintendo game in a lot of ways just with Platinum's token game design. It felt like a mix of Bayonetta and Star Fox and Pikmin with the wrappings of a really neat superhero idea. It also has one of the best soundtracks in recent memory and incredibly charming, memorable characters and dialogue. It constantly had me laughing and it didn't even have to resort down to "cheeky" humor like a lot of indie games. But first and foremost the gameplay felt good and satisfying. Of course it isn't perfect, there were sections that were supremely confusing and frustrating, but at the same time I loved trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do on my own.

The last few hours were complete bonkers in the best way possible and again that final boss theme was just magnificent.

Two days ago I was asking myself if people would ever get tired of gaming. If everything had been done and what was the limit of what could be done.

Wonderful 101 is Kamiya slapping me in the face and asking me if I eat shit.

Mission 009 is the best final level of any game ever.

Aw that sucks, I hope that your room mate is paying for the replacement since it was his fault.

You will need to learn to be patient because if you can't handle opening the door, which is the easiest part of the game then you aren't going to be able to handle the later part of the game.

How many times have you played the demo? Because you aren't going to master the game straight away as it takes time to learn the mechanic of the game.

Ran through the demo again and I still don't understand the trophy system. I'm looking at my ending score and I have the following. 3 pure platinum, 1 platinum, 1 gold, 1 platinum, 1 pure platinum and at the end boss I got a silver. All in that order. My over all trophy was a silver!? Does it not matter what you do before the end fight of a level? Does the end fight matter more in the full game as well?

Did you die?

No not once.

I did the demo on very easy this time. However I had the same happen to me before when the demo first came out when I played it on easy and normal.

Yeah, that finale was absolutely insane! I freaked out when it was revealed why the Geathjerk Federation was formed, and the
"100 demons"
reference. When they were shown
the wonder mask from the future
, I was like; "Whao! Sh!t just got real!" The plot was much deeper than I thought.

I was dying at Red's name for the final attack. So much so that I barely had any strength in my fingers to complete the QTE... purely awesome stuff!

So let me get this straight. You're basing your enjoyment of the entire game off of the first 5 minutes of the demo and you can't get further because you can't figure out how to open the door, the easiest puzzle in the game?

Look, I can "reassure" you that the game is amazing and to open the shrink wrap. I am sure most people in this topic would as well. The game really is that amazing. If you're honestly giving up after 5 minutes and stumped on a super easy puzzle then maybe the game isn't for you. It has a learning curve (granted i wouldn't really consider the pad puzzle sections part of that). You need patience and you need to put in the effort, and if you do you will be rewarded.

I loved both Bayonetta and Metal Gear Rising and I think this game blows both out of the water. It is more interesting and flat out more fun and intense, at least in my opinion.

My ultimate opinion is you bought the game so try actually playing it instead of just the demo. If you get stuck at a part like the warehouse just remember the game uses both screens and there will be something on one of them to help you get through.

Fucking hell this game......I got it on Monday, and I've played a shit ton, or so I thought. Turns out I just beat sequence 2, how many sequences are there total? I think I remember reading 6 or 7 somewhere, and if that's the case, I can't even begin to imagine how much crazier this shit is gonna get.

Buying a WiiU was truly worth it for this game alone.

TBH the final gameplay segment could have been made harder. That and
I wanted the cutscene where they use every morph in one combo to have been an actual QTE
I think their name starts with a P but I'm not sure
They are also obviously silver colored.

For the longest time I thought the silver individual stat medals were actually stone.

9 3-portion levels, sans level 007 (2 segments instead of 3), with a prologue and an epilogue.

If by Sequence you mean Operation....then yeah there is a lot more to go and your expectations will be shattered. Enjoy the ride. I wish I could play this game again for the first time.

while everyone's winding down, I beat the game a week ago and I'm still sad I did.

I haven't felt that way about any other game I finished this year.

I wanted moar ;_;

Yeah this game has the steepest learning curve out of the games Platinum has put out. The actual gameplay is very odd and it takes a little bit for everything to click. Once it does, you'll really appreciate the mechanics (like drawing the shapes as opposed to a simple weapon swap). It's very satisfying and definitely more unique than Bayonetta or Metal Gear Rising.

The style of this game is amazing too. If you love superheroes or sentai style shows, you will adore this game. I honestly couldn't tell you the story of Bayonetta despite playing through it more times than I'd like to admit, and I was totally into the story for this game.

Honestly if you like Bayonetta or Rising, you will probably like this game. It doesn't top Bayo for me but it blows Rising away easily.

The "Nice Try" bottlecap is a lying POS: it's far above 10 evade bonuses and I had to do a crapload of jumping near one of those spike walls to get enough bonuses to get the achievement.
