Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???

If you're not a joke character (and really even if you are) you should realise it's insufferably annoying. :|

If being passionate and optimistic about a a IP and a handheld I love is a joke then I must be a joke character.

Sorry if it got extremely annoying. I'll keep my mouth shut.

I didn't mean to be as harsh as that came across, and L Thammy is right, you've been polite about it.

But there's a difference between being an optimistic voice in discussion about the Vita and just posting that the Vita is due for a massive turnaround over and over again.

The above "line" would essentially say that there isn't pent up demand for the new SKU, which does not bode well. The sales declines we've been seeing would then instead suggest more that it's reaching end of life saturation or at least saturation at the current price point.

Could we start adding Dengeki to first post ?

I second this. If Chris is happy to edit it in, or maybe reserve the second post in the thread for it, it would be great to have that data easily findable as well.

I support this idea!

We've been getting non-stop Dengeki data since 2009...I think Dengeki has earned the right to be in the OP with Famitsu and Media Create thanks to how much data they give us, but it's not my call to make.

The one key element that's missing from my posts though is the week-over-week percentage change...I'm working on a system to automate that, and soon I'll retroactively add it to each Dengeki post I created. The other issue is that the way I present data (code tags) is fundamentally different from Chris1964's text method. Personally I like to emphasize readability over conciseness, and it seems he prefers the opposite.

What's the catch? I didn't expect there to be any lines at all, but if the store felt like there was enough demand for there to be a line, the picture seems too funny to be an accurate representation of the demand for the new Vita. Maybe there was a line early in the day, and the picture was taken hours later. Just a thought. Makes for a hilarious picture though.

guys the person in the Vita line looks like a pirate.

So he's lining up for some OLED-less treasure. Gonna get some of dat booty for his crewmates down at the pub. There's no room for concern here.

Disclaimer: I do not live in Tokyo or Osaka where people who are hardcore are more prone to live. That said.

I am not hearing any hype for the new Vita here. I saw a few ads and there are a some on store posters, but that's about it. Maybe there is some hype among Sony fans but it is totally drowned out by MH4 and Pokemon. Also I should point out that as happened with the original PSP, it is rarely a lot of new buyers getting the new colors/model it will mainly be people who already have a Vita who are "trading up" (though without OLED I am not sure if it is really up). If the sales of this new Vita are good, there will be tons of used Vitas for sale by this weekend.

Now that's not all bad, this will eventually increase the user base as some budget conscious gamers will pick up those units.

I really don't see this new model increasing the baseline in the long run. Vita TV has a better shot. I think Vita might get a bump for it's PS4 features next year if the PS4 takes off running.

It's all 3DS all the time here.

I mention that I have a WiiU and people are unimpressed. Most have not heard of Super Mario 3D World but assume (from the title not the pictures) that it's on 3DS. Unless people walk into a dedicated games shop (not a shopping center) or read Famitsu, the title may as well not even exist.

I talk about planning to get a PS4 and people are unimpressed (other than the gamers I hang out with). The hype is just not there like it was for the PS3. But Sony has a while before the Japanese release so that could change.

XB1 LOL.

But by far the most common gaming related stuff I hear (excluding pokemon and MH4) is about Puzzles and Dragons. Even the elementary school kids are addicted to this. This is probably what square is seeing too...
Damn, I've missed your retail musings ! ;)

Huh, that's odd then. If that's the same place as the Yabodashi-Akiba from the PS4 preorder pics, they open at 9:30am Japan time. So there wouldn't be anyone in the line because the store was already open.

Obviously, there was a massive line before the store opened but the efficient workers got everyone through quickly. They are now all at home playing their handheld goodness.

I might be wrong though. I was just going by the twitter post time.

Edit: my caculation was wrong. That was posted 8:51 am oct 10 japan time.

I kind of doubt he's even in the line, lol. Probably just passing through, trying to avoid the crowd on his right. I call that smart.

Ya that post was from 30 minutes before opening. Safe to say there's no hype behind new vita models. Any difference it makes will be minimal at best.

And even i am moderately surprised
Regardless of how the Vita 2000 sells, this picture only tells you that people weren't interested in queuing up instead of going to work/school/etc - and , if anyone -was- lining up, they were doing so for store open at 10am.

Again, the queues weren't likely to be huge long snaking things - but you could have easily got the same picture on the day of MH4 launch (again, the two are not comparable for various reasons - but just to highlight that this picture doesn't really tell you much)

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

But even back then you said MH4 would be the real deal - very separate from your outlandish MH3G prediction :p Also, welcome back!

So I guess the recent pathetic Vita sales were due to MH4 putting the final nails in its coffin and not ppl waiting on the revision?

The only people who thought otherwise are those who seem to make up any excuse possible as to why the Vita has been a commercial disaster.

and , although i've only sunk 20 hours or so into MH4 due to a new job/second kid, it truly is a glorious game. I was pretty worried about how the game would turn out but it really is absolutely outstanding. Hats off to Capcom. :D

Thanks - it's nice to be around again

the thing is - that previous Road post ends with "what about Vita?" - there were queues for Vita 1000, just it doesn't tell you anything about the overall outcome from day 1 queues.

Hell, go look at the DS queues - it launched on a week day - i went to Tsutaya Shibuya before work... there was 14 of us. FOURTEEN.

All right...I've implemented an automated system for calculating percentage weekly sales change for the Dengeki Top 50.

It's already reflected on the latest sales, and it will be present for all future posts.

Missed ya buddy.

As for the Vita pics, pack it up boys and girls. Sony should just go ahead and start taking stock off of the shelves. This thing is done.
