I remember having this electronic Pokedex. Too bad it kind of got busted over the years.

(not my photo obviously)

I had one of those too. Fragile damn things, especially considering the price.

Seeing the cards last page, it reminded me of all the movie ones. I remember getting the Entei card when going to see the third movie in theatre's. I freaked out and thought it was the coolest giveaway ever. I think they also gave the ancient Mew card too or I something else gave them away.

I remember not getting anything but the Ancient Mew card because all my local theaters were out. Jump a head years later, I found a full set of the first movie promos in the glove compartment of the used truck I had bought a week earlier.

To this day, I don't know which is more surprising, the fact that there were Pokemon cards hidden in the truck or that it took me a week of owning the truck before I even thought to look in the glove compartment.

As some of you may know I LOVE collecting Pokemon cards. As much as I love to collect them, I'm always saddened that I'm missing so many Pokemon, and first gen cards.

Sorry for the 3rd gen peakers, I'm missing that many cards that you can see them ):

Man, just looking at Pokémon cards takes me back. I'll try to upload pictures of my collection within the next couple of days.

That sounds like a neat idea, I might do that too.
Sadly, I was one of those bone headed kids that put all my cards in my card binder, so there are pages and pages of doubles. I've been meaning to take some time and just clear them out, narrow it all down to just one of each.

At some point, I decided that I was only interested in collecting the promotional cards. Half of them are cheap stock art and the other half are amazing images.

I wish I still had my Ancient Mew card, was so cool getting it at the cinemas especially considering that kind of promotional stuff normally never makes it to Australia's releases.

The sexual tension between Misty and Ash in that film was intense.

Did we watch the same film? haha

It's true, hence why it's my favourite of the movies.

I have an unopened booster pack of the first set of Pokemon cards I got from my comic shop.
This artist is drawing the first 151 using only their original sprite colors.

They're all worth taking a look at!
The Arcanine drawing is the best.
This guy should make prints.

Er, isn't the Ancient Mew card for the third movie? I know it was in the second film but I swear they were giving it away as promotion for the third.

Sexual tension in the second movie yes but not in the third. Personally, I hate Ash and preferred Brock and Misty wayyyyy more.

Edit: Welp, apparently it was for the second movie.

I only played Red and Blue back in the day and it was easily the best portable experience ever until Mega Man Battle network.

I came here to say that the theme song to the show was awesome. I still have it on my mp3 player. It's part of my "inspiring workout music" playlist. I'm a grown 30 year old man working out to pokemon, thats right.

This is amazing, and kinda makes me miss the simplicity in the use of colors (even thought it was because of hardware limitations).

I actually find the GBC sprites most impressive just because of the limitations they had to work with. It made me appreciate the Gen 2 battle sprites much more.

I wish I could go back.

Anecdote from childhood:

- Spend 300ish hours playing and getting all 250 pokemon for Gold.
- Cousin erases your game.
- Feel huge void of emptyness inside.
- Spend an insane amount of time to get all 250 pokemon all over again.
- ???
- Profit.

Also, I have to thank pokemon a lot because I'm pretty sure that playing it is how I got to learn enligh :) or at least it was the startup, never had to take a course in my life after that. I remember getting stuck in Kanto (Again, Gold version) at some point during the whole two snorlaxes/radio poke flute/electrical plant/misty gym, I was stuck for a long time there and trying to understand the language was what helped me get past that.

Now that you mention that, I distinctly remember my English teacher (English is not my native language) telling my parents that he thought the games me and my friends were playing (Pokemon) were one if the reasons why our English was so good.

And it is totally true. When I played Pokemon Red for the first time I knew no English. I made it to Cerulean with only my Charmeleon because I couldn't figure out how to buy Pokeballs lol. Oh man. Mt Moon was the hardest dungeon to get our of, always getting lost

That was one of the things I hated so much back then, a relative stupidly starting new game on your cartridge and saving over it. I was so glad I've stopped my cousin from erasing my save.

yup. cousin deleted my red save too. I'll never forget my exchange with her.

"Why did you start a new game on my Pokemon?"

"I didn't want to continue your game!"

Man, seeing the OG TCG cards makes me want to bust out LackyCCG and get playing with Base Set/Jungle/Fossil again.

What I wouldn't give to have Pokemon TCG GB 3 with Online dual mode with set lists and everything.

Hell get Konami to do it ala the YGO releases.

I admit my english is not perfect but a man is allowed to have typos every once in a while! (Or was it something else?).

Forgot to mention that in the end I ended losing that same Pokemon Gold cartridge in which I got all 250 pokemon twice... along with a GBA and some other stuff while on a trip :( I guess the game was doomed for me all along.

This. Additionally, the color scheme of the GBC sprites really go well with Sugimori's style. by comparison, I found gen 3 to be a tad less interesting simply because the Pokemon looked like tinker toys. They had too much detail, if that makes sense.

Simple is better.

Hmmm

Pokemon Pinball's Blue Field vs Pokemon GSC's Ecruteak City

Pokemon Pinball's Name Entry vs Pokemon RSE's Sootopolis City

I disagree that the newer (Gen 3 and 4) sprites look like tinker toys, I think (when the Pokemon's poses are done right) look very good. But yeah, it doesn't have that simplistic charm, nothing wrong with it, but I just prefer simple too.

So with all that said... high five!

Don't worry, your English is fine. I just thought that was a pretty funny moment for a typo.

I'll admit Pokemon probably helped out my English too even though it's my first language. Definitely helped with spelling tests.

I'm probably being too hard on gen 3, in all honesty. It's my least liked generation and, more and more, I think it's because I was nearing the end of high school and my interests were stretching into other things. I'm not sure if the minor complains I had were actually a product of dislike or me being pessimistic about the whole thing for unrelated reasons.

One thing I did like about third gen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjCH4wPC6dA

The reason for this most likely is that Go Ichinose did the music for Pokémon Pinball, thus the similarities between tracks he did for GSC/RSE and for Pinball. Hell, the whole soundtrack feels like an Ichinose mix-tape—the style's all him, which is awesome.

Did he also wrote the japanese opening theme? That song is in Pinball as well.

I have completed all the first generation sets (from Base to Gym Challenge). I get a nostalgia kick out of looking through these cards, so I figured I'd share them with you if you're enjoy seeing them too. :) Sorry for the terrible quality by the way, I was in a hurry.

So envy... great collection you got there, love the art in the first gen cards / the card format itself.

So anyone else really happy that X/Y is filled with old pokemon?

seeing old pokemon in newer games always brought a smile to my face.

Old Pokémon is a great way to get the older audiences, but regardless I'm happy because the game is freaking awesome!
Got a Pidgey and Butterfree in my team at present.

Damn dude, i had everything pokemon when i was younger..

I had a complete set of the first run edition cards ( i remember seeing the charizard card on the news as being so ridiculously rare , i had no idea what i had at the time lol)

The pokedex toys

Even those burger king pokeballs with the little gold plates on them from the first movie lol

Remember going to see the mewtwo movie in theatre and getting the exclusive dragonite and mew cards etc.

The Pokemon anime themes from the first few seasons helped me graduate High School.

I am not even fucking kidding, I am forever grateful to the Master Quest theme.
