I think his posts is infinitely better than yours seeing the fact that he posseses some kind of critical thinking while you clearly don't. You wish to set the conflict as a good/bad, white/black so that it fits nicely into whatever viewpoint you have on the conflict, the only problem being is that the world isn't simple like that.
Did you even read his original post?
So are rebels still the good guys? This just reinforces the idea that there are no good guys in this conflict.
He agrees with you that the situation isn't black and white. No need to insult his critical thinking skills when you can't even bother to read the posts you are responding to.

The rebels are the good one...
Maybe there are no good ones, or the ones are mixed with something more complicated than a faux cartoon Groucho binary existence. If good and bad are measured in a tit-for-tat fashion where known instances of injustice are to be cataloged and put into a correspondence the one-to-one relationship fails on account of the vast documented crimes done by the regime. No one ought to be absolved from the wrongdoings. This kidnapping is likely by members of the opposition but that is not verified. What was this for, hostages and supplies medical supplies? Was anyone injured and in what condition are the captives? Do you care about this? Do you know they were in Syria to help evacuate the 1500 citizen that had been trapped under the government's siege of the city/rebel stronghold? Has it all becomes to much and you have diluted it all into a narrative repeating "this shows the rebels are bad." Do you look into what is happening and find it beyond explanation, and so end up posting in a perceptibly antagonizing drive-by manner?

For the Government;
"It was too much to take, Syrians killing Syrians by order of the government," he said. "The torture that happened inside prison are beyond what you can imagine."
source

For the Rebels:
In an exclusive interview with Asharq Al-Awsat, the newly elected Prime Minister of the opposition-backed Syrian interim government Ahmad Tomeh criticized the international community, saying that the Syrian opposition is frustrated with the world’s inability to take steps to end the bloodshed in Syria.

He said, “The international community has disappointed us,” adding, “Any delay in finding a political solution will open the door to major problems in the future, including extremism and radicalism.”

Speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat from Istanbul, Tomeh said: “If an international decision to solve the Syrian crisis were to be taken now, we would be able…to run the government efficiently and thus win back more than three quarters of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) supporters. We are convinced that most of them joined the organization out of destitution and poverty.”

For Tomeh, the Islamist ISIS does not enjoy a wide support base in Syria.

He also revealed that he is putting the finishing touches to his interim government, saying that the members of the cabinet will be announced following the Eid Al-Adha celebrations, scheduled to take place sometime later this week.

Tomeh added the names of the members of the government will be submitted to the Syrian National Coalition (SNC) for a vote of confidence during its meeting on October 25.

Tomeh also discussed receiving certain promises of support from Arab and international countries for his government which, he says, will need at least USD 300 million per month in aid to operate effectively.

The largest group in Syria's opposition coalition says it will not take part in proposed peace negotiations in Geneva.

Syrian National Council leader George Sabra said the group would pull out of the umbrella coalition if it took part in the talks.

He said his faction would not negotiate with the Syrian government, adding that conditions for talks were not right while Syrians continued to suffer.

The UN, US and Russia want the long-delayed talks to be held next month.
Anger at international response

Mr Sabra told French news agency AFP that the Syrian National Council (SNC) "had taken the firm decision... not to go to Geneva under the present circumstances (on the ground)".

"Ghouta (agricultural belt around Damascus) is under siege and it is forbidden to even bring in bread. Are these the conditions that will allow us to achieve... a democratic transition in Syria?" he asked.

Mr Sabra was also fiercely critical of the international community, accusing it of failing to punish the Syrian government after the 21 August poison gas attack that killed hundreds of civilians near Damascus.

The Syrian government and military deny they were involved.

"The international community has focused on the murder weapon, which is the chemical weapons, and left the murderer unpunished and forgotten the victims," he added.

The SNC was the original main opposition group outside Syria but broadened almost a year ago into a wider coalition, of which it still remains the biggest component.

If and when the international effort fails to bring the hostilities to and end, believe it or not, the violence will escalate. The good guys / bad guys thing just has a sporting event mentality to it, or some weird spectacle's qualification for simpletons.

I don't understand why cheezmo is content with two suicide car bombings. Do you feel the same way whenever your favorite suicide bombers blow up a market place in iraq cheezmo?

Wouldnt be a shock. Hopefully he wont see that long though!!

Big offensive today from Jabhat al Nusra & Fatihoun ala Ard al Sham in Deir al Zor. Numerous martyrdom operations. Military Police HQ destroyed. Make Dua for the Mujahideen.

Maybe you should stop reading into peoples posts and attributing viewpoints or opinions to the those who made them so you can get all indignant. I've already seen you get called out on it once in the past. You'd think you might've stopped but alas.

to be honest Cheezmo the off hand way you post sometimes makes it seem like you're amused by it all, you needn't cry so foul about being misinterpreted.

The civil war would be over if all the foreigners would just leave and stop funding the terrorists.

Over in what way? Assad would won? How would that of been good?

This conflict to me seems like the first 'Jihad' which has become legitimised by the Islamic World. Muslims from all over the globe travel to Syria and these are not trained fighters but just normal folk who have decided to go.

This conflict will continue to go on until Assad is gone.

Lets not forget that the vast majority of the anti assad forces are born and bred syrian and the foriegn element is still a small percent.

Thank you

If you think the conflict would end with Assad being toppled you're wrong, that's when the in-fighting among the opposition would intensify while minorities like christians and alawites get purged.

Yet people still travel their. Whether you or I believe its right or wrong doesnt change the fact that its happening and isnt slowing down. Whether its Arab countries, European, Asian, African its going on and the real question should be why? We didnt see this kind of thing when Afghanistan and Iraq were invaded, not on the same scale anyway.

liger must think that Syria should be turned into 1990s Afghanistan.

Nope. Just away from tryrants like Assad and the other clowns in the region. The people of Sham can choose their caliph once his gone.

Caliph? You coach your talk in myth. It reminds me of the bullshit that pol-potists used to talk about. About resurrecting an ancient civilization by purging the impurities in Cambodian society. That's why the terrorist wahhabis salifi and you scare the shit out of me. Because under the surface, you and those terrorists want to commit another genocide so that you can bring back the dead and buried myth of a world wide caliphate.

You do realize that to realize a Caliph that isn't merely yet another brutal warlord you'd have to evict or otherwise purge the opposition of radical elements, right? The same people you ask we make dua for?

No cheezmo. You and I both know that I meant the 25% to 50% of the "rebels" that are foreigners entering from Jordan and Turkey and the hundreds of millions to billions that are being dumped into the area by foreign governments. Don't be glib.

Why? The consensus among the various fighting groups post assad is to establish an Islamic state.

So you dont acknowledge the foriegn elements on the pro assad side or is it just free reign to attack the Sunni Muslims regardless of where they are from? I have said this before but you cant have it both ways.

25% - 50%. Source for this please?

Which governments? Dont say Saudi as the Saudi regime has no love or desire to see the rebels win.

A lot of the money comes from private donations in the region.

That's cute that you actually believe this. You think that a wahhabi salifi nation isn't funding the wahhabi salifi terrorism in Syria as well as running a multimillion dollar propaganda campaign for the terrorists. How cute. Keep on telling yourself these fantasies.

The truth is that the Saudi Arabian government as well as other ass backwards oil monarchies have funded the spread of your pol-potist sectarian ideology and it has given the world places like Afghanistan under the Taliban.

It pisses me off to no end that when people point out the end results of your bankrupt revolutionary ideals you use a "no true scotsman" logical fallacy to try to blind people into supporting a future genocide and destruction of an entire society.

So the Saudi's are funding the same groups that see them as munafiq (hypocrites). They are funding the same groups that want to Khilafah in not just Al-Sham but the wider region. The same groups if possible would be aiming to turf them out of the land of the two mosques. You really think the Saudi Government wants these people to win?

They may be salafist but they are Madkhalis and that ideology is one which says anyone who criticises the ruler (the saudi regime) is a labelled a Khariji.

The Saudi regime does not want a caliphate!! They may want Assad gone but thats only by trying to control certain elements and the eventual aim will be to try and get certain groups to fight the Islamists.

It pisses me off to no end that when people point out the end results of your bankrupt revolutionary ideals you use a "no true scotsman" logical fallacy to try to blind people into supporting a future genocide and destruction of an entire society.

Try looking at the destruction of society going on right now from Assad than coming up with imaginary ideas for the future.

Thank you for proving my point. I said the Saudi's want Assad and do not want to see ISIS/JAN succeed so and forming there own group to fight those elements is there eventual end game.

JAN/ISIS see the Saudi regime as part of the problem and another target once the battle is syria has been won.

Read more links. See I love how you talk about the majority as it's unified in what it wants to do (create another afghanistan) and then you pick the worst terrorist groups that are literally al-queda as proof that saudi arabia isn't funding the rebel terrorists.

Whatever. You are just wrong in everything you say liger and you honestly disgust me in that you support fucking terrorists like ISIS that do suicide bombings and car bombings in Iraq in marketplaces and schools every other day killing 50 people. Just so they can start another genocidal sectarian war there.

Can't believe people like Liger actually hold up al-queda as a role model in Syria.

You keep talking about Afghanistan I'm and not sure why. Someone who supports Assad trying to take the moral high ground is pretty laughable.

Iraq is a different matter altogether and one sectarian mess but to try and pin it all on ISIS is a stretch. Sunni's are attacked plenty just as Shia's are.

BEIRUT — Rebel snipers killed a top-ranking general in Syrian military intelligence on Thursday, state television and opposition activists said.

State TV said General Jama'a Jama'a was shot dead in the eastern city of Deir al-Zor, which is in a province largely held by opposition forces trying to topple President Bashar al-Assad.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an anti-Assad monitoring group, said Jama'a was a member of Assad's inner circle and one of Syria's most prominent military figures.

“General Jama'a Jama'a has been martyred while carrying out his national duty of defending Syria and its people and pursuing terrorists in Deir al-Zor,” a statement on Syria TV said.

The Britain-based Observatory, which has a network of activists across Syria, said snipers shot Jama'a in the midst of a battle with rebel units that it said included some forces linked to al-Qaida.

According to the Observatory, Jama'a was investigated for a suspected role in the assassination of the Lebanese statesman Rafik Hariri in 2005.

Many blamed the Beirut car bombing that killed Hariri on Assad's government and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah, which is allied to Assad and is now fighting alongside him in Syria against the rebels.

Syria's conflict began two and a half years ago as protests against four decades of Assad family rule that degenerated into a bloody civil war. More than 100,000 people have died in the violence.

Big news. Kills like this cause defections.

Reading there was an attempted assassination attempt on an ISIS leader by a rogue member of Liwa Al Tawheed. ISIS not escalating the matter which is very good news.

Rumours The commander of Division 17 in ar-Raqqah has been killed today as well. General Samir Muhammad Ali Chief of the military security branch dead.

At least three of Damascus's suburbs - Yarmouk, Eastern Ghouta and Moudamiyah - have been besieged by government forces for several months.

The situation has become so desperate that earlier this week Muslim clerics issued a religious ruling allowing people to eat cats, dogs and donkeys just to survive.

Those animals are usually considered unfit for human consumption in Islam.

In a statement on Friday, US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said: "We call on the Syrian regime to immediately approve relief convoys."

And she warned that "those who are responsible for atrocities in the Damascus suburbs and across Syria must be identified and held accountable".

She added that in Moudamiyah "people have been without basic necessities for nearly a year, and the regime's deliberate prevention of the delivery of life-saving humanitarian supplies to thousands of civilians is unconscionable".

Footage obtained by the BBC from Yarmouk showed families struggling to find enough to eat.

"Surrender or starve" is the regime's policy. Yarmouk is reported to be out of food in the next 2-3 days, people are already starting to die from malnutrition. UN callling on both sides to open front lines for aide delivery and to evacute the wounded and trapped civilians.

Separately, Fatah leader Abbas Zaki told Ma'an Wednesday that Yarmouk's population of 250,000 has dwindled to 18,000 after two and a half years of conflict in Syria.

18,000 at one camp. Over the course of next week, another 20,000+ victims of this war can easily be added to the tally of casualties. Somebody please tell me this is either misinformation or both sides have agreed to not let this happen.

The World Health Organization says it has received reports of the first suspected outbreak in the country in 14 years.

Syrian's Ministry of Public Health is launching an urgent response, but experts fear the disease will be hard to control amid civil unrest.

Immunisation is almost impossible to carry out in regions under intense shellfire.

As a result, vaccination rates have been waning - from 95% in 2010 to an estimated 45% in 2013.

At least a third of the country's public hospitals are out of service, and in some areas, up to 70% of the health workforce has fled.

Outbreak risks have also increased due to overcrowding, poor sanitation and deterioration in water supply.

More than four million Syrians who have relocated to less volatile areas of the country are mostly living in overcrowded, unsanitary conditions.

The WHO says it is already seeing increased cases of measles, typhoid and hepatitis A in Syria.
Caused by a highly-infectious virus
Mainly affects children under five years
Can lead to irreversible muscle paralysis
A course of vaccines against polio can protect a child for life
Global eradication efforts continue
The disease remains endemic in only a few countries - Afghanistan, Nigeria and Pakistan
Mass vaccination is needed to eradicate polio

Seems like the filthy foreign terrorists are bringing plague with them. Another victory for the "rebels" in their quest to destroy another country completely.

Its more about the unsanitary conditions and overpopulated encampments. WHO will be working with the region and distributing vaccines. There was a polio outbreak in Syria 14 years ago. This is in the east, 22 reported cases[?], and is not brought in by your filthy foreign terrorists but re-emerges from unfortunate conditions that people are forced to live in due to this war.

disease doesn't come for nowhere. It came from the foreign terrorists. The only way you can think that a disease, which is prevalent in Afghanistan and Pakistan, is suddenly reintroduced you can deduce logically that it was from foreign agents from these areas doing "jihad".

Do you just phone this stuff in? Disease is everywhere. All of us are disease carrying meatbags. Read what PG said, it's the conditions people are forced to live in that brings it out. Stick any group of people in conditions like that and diseases will break out.

When Polio has been eradicated for 14 years and it suddenly springs up when a bunch of jihadists show up then the people who brought it in are those foreigners. It's as simple as that. Or do you believe in some sort of spontaneous creation of life? The conditions don't help because the "rebels" have been blowing up water treatment plants and killing government workers but the disease wasn't present until those foreign jihadists came in.

He was also critical of the hotel revolutionaries. The West and SNC can talk about how the dont want the Islamic 'Jihadi' elements to be the most dominant but they themselves do all the work which makes it easier for this to happen.

Whether its criminal gangs, brigades leaving battle unannounced, the inability to provide security and law for the people etc its the Islamic groups that end up sorting these things out which in turn will result in the people supporting these groups.
