So does anyone know or can guess how much vita has sold? It got a price drop a month earlier and now it got its biggest game for the year.

RF4 number seems fine for what here in the U.S. is such a low-profile title. I did my part making it a rare Day 1 purchase...though that may have come at the cost of the latest Etrian losing a sale. One at at time.

Unfortunate for W101. It is one of the reasons I sometimes keep a Wii U in mind, but then if it appeals to me it is often an indicator that it will not appeal to the majority of my friends who I sometimes play local mp CoD with.

Wow at the Wii U. I don't think that Nintendo has ever had a console that has been struggling within sales or gamers so badly (probably besides Virtual Boy), & they just came off of having 100+ million Wii console sales last gen.

Guess the amount of money that they've made off of Wii systems, games, & accessories, along with DS handhelds, games, & accessories must've gotten to their heads & had gotten them incredibly arrogant so much that they forget all about their fans & gamers.

Bayonetta has been demoed a lot, I don't think it'll be cancelled after W101 sales.

Also, Nintendo has hyped X a lot in their directs. It was the last game revealed in January and almost last in the E3 Direct, so I guess they'll push it even more closer to release.

I'm happy with my 2 copies of The Wonderful 101, still playing and enjoying it more than a month after release.

It's a damn shame that it didn't find more of an audience but that's the way things work sometimes. Sadly quality is no guarantee that something will sell.

Hopefully new Wii U owners looking for something fresh to play end up giving it a shot at some point. Do we know how Viewtiful Joe, Okami and God Hand sold in their first month on the market? Would be interesting to compare!

vj - 102,231
okami - 87,000

god hand wasn't kamiya, but it didn't do very well. i could only find december 06, its third month, and it did 7k.

Not really. Pretty much hyped the same way something like Bayonetta 2 is, which means threads full of people arguing about how it would sell and why is it on Wii U.

Yeah, oddly enough I have never heard of Sony gamers being pissed off that Monolithsoft was acquired, or thinking "Xenogears was on the Playstation, Xenosaga was on the Playstation, why are the Xeno games now on Nintendo hardware?!?" (I'm personally puzzled that with the PlayStation history of Monolithsoft prior to acquisition, why they were acquired, but I'll go with it.) :p But going back through the Bayonetta 2 threads...

^^^^I got mine day one as well! I personally was hoping to see 20K for RF4, but 17K is around that number so I'll live with that. But I now will understand the heartbreak regarding niche games, the anxiety surrounding the sales, and will have to look after my heart health now that I have some skin in the game.

i never understand this thought process. man, nintendo made so much money that they got arrogant and forgot how to make video games.

That's a chilling thought. Given such poor sales/consumer reaction to TW101, I could see a scenario (though unlikely) where Nintendo wonders if the money spent on Bayonetta 2 is worthwhile.

There would be meltdowns of epic proportions if this scenario came to pass. Those who bought WiiU with the promise of Bayonetta 2 would be pissed if Nintendo reversed course and canned the project.

lol, IM SO WORRIED NOW

the game is probably nearly finished ffs

I know GH isn't Kamiya, I was just wondering how it sold considering it was another game that went right over people's head.

20k is fucking harsh though..... Feel bad for the team!

Edit: Bayonetta 2 isn't going anywhere people, this is getting ridiculous.... They went out of their way to attract a certain audience to their console with 101 and Bayo2, they're not going to cut and run because 101 stumbled out of the gate. They would take a bigger loss by not releasing it at this stage in development AND they would completely piss off the same people they were trying to win over, it would quite literally be the dumbest move imaginable.

I wonder if it would end up being a business decision, in reaction to the changing landscape of gaming, that they would lighten up on the casual games. I haven't heard of any more Brain-Agey Nintendogsy games for the 3DS upcoming, but there's the Art Academy game for the WiiU that was announced, and Nintendo bought some shares of a voice recognition company that Panasonic owns, which screams casual titles will still return in due time :p I'm all for attempting to raise the stature of gaming among an expanded audience though, and if Nintendo wants to continue finding ways to make games beyond those of the traditional console gaming demographics (which I think is an admirable goal), I wonder how that will look (hardware or software wise). Perhaps that would even mean modifying or using the WiiU as a base for that push as well rather than ditching the WiiU project all together.

What kind of numbers could we be looking at for Wii and DS? I wonder how far Nintendo was from reaching half a million new american customers.

Serious question. Why do people expect Wii U owners should be buying every game coming out? Where is that expectation coming from?

.

I don't know if you were around for the N64 but N64 owners were so game-starved that an absurdly high percentAge of the library were platinum hits. Check the top 10 software for that generation and asides from Gran Turiano it's all N64 games. Seriously, even Acclaim, THQ, and Midway were pumping out platinum-franchises that were pretty WTF. Hmmm makes you think what Ubisoft thinks about Rayman.

270k < 1.5 < 275k

Holy shit 270k plus. Thats a higher debut than DDD lol. You see SE you should of just left KH on consoles anyway but instead you placed them on handhelds for god knows why got even worse sales in US and Japan as a result. So glad KH3 is back where it belongs.

Well TW101 selling 20k is bad, atleast it doubled what need for speed sold.

It had a tacky Japanese style, convoluted controls, terrible marketing on the worst selling console in years. I don't know what people expected. Nintendo really should money hat games like dead rising 3 and titanfall, games that would add that westernized-shooter side to their library.

With that said, TW101 was awesome as fuck and I feel like I'm one of the priveleged few who will ever know that.

I hope many more people end up playing this game in the future through word-of-mouth.

No more hardware numbers/estimates? No 2ch leaks?
I find the fact that the 360 had more than half of all GTA sales more interesting since the game is advertised with only Sony products.
There are about 15M more 360s in the wild, I don't think anyone who wants the game is oblivious enough to be unaware of the 360 SKU.

I find the fact that despite 360 having a userbase with 15 million more, it only gained around 500 000 sales compared to the PS3 version.

I mean that's kind of what I was getting at. I guess I should have elaborated more. I expected an even smaller rift between the 2 consoles in GTA sales because of how aggressive the marketing was. Either way, it helped Sony and Rockstar is just kicking it in their vault of money right now.

Nice increase from August for the various platforms, but still not very encouraging results for the traditional game platforms IMO.

3DS still dropping YoY, HD twins down and doing mediocre figures, Vita dead and even with Wii U increasing so much its still not close to being a viable platform yet.

Lets hope the holiday months bring some good news.

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
cream, anyone... Hardware numbers for all consoles (except 360, since we basically know it, and Vita, since you spilled already some beans on it), please XD

Last year 3DS had XL + NSMB2's effect going on (August 2012 tracked only one week for both of them), though. This year, it had just a Pokemon special Edition without the game and counted for less than 10 days, with no big release companing it.

NPD is just US sales. If you look at the worldwide sales of gta5, the PS3 version is well ahead of the 360 in Europe and Asia.

wait doesnt NPD still not have access to Walmart numbers, along with digital.

why exactly are their numbers...er they dont even release raw numbers anymore, so why are there rankings any more credible than vg-charts again?
You can check for yourself. Compare the data given here to what's listed in that site.
Answer: an average deviation of 56%. (used 7 games). Diablo 3's deviation is 121%!

Id be going ape shit. Cancel the only reason I bought this POS console? Nah man.

Hopefully worse case scenario is it becomes an eshop game. That would suck but at least id get to play it.

I kinda feel the same way too, now. Gonna be one of those cult classics for sure.

I don't think it was arrogance. If you look at how they handled the Wii U from the first reveal up till now, you'll see they simply tried the exact same thing as they did with the Wii. But that's the mistake right there, they thought they were playing it safe and thus would retain a large potion of the original Wii crowd, but as many have already said: Those people are gone and they're not coming back.

But at any rate, I know the Nintendoom stuff is old as can be, but this console might really be the one. But we'll get a clearer picture after this holiday season I guess.

despite not being solid, it's good to at least see a positive reaction for the Wii U. probably the new games will, with the holidays and the permanent price cut, be able to keep the "momentum" for the incoming months.
and glad to see the 3DS doing so well: that gives hope for the dedicated portable consoles market.
and the sum of the results could mean that N will not be doomed 'cause of the Wii U struggles (and will keep supporting the consoles with games)

Great debut for GTA V, and good response by the PS3 bundles, while it's obvious that people are waiting for the new consoles for MS and Sony, imho.

Do we have estimate for DS and Vita?

NPD is so useless these days. I remember the old good days when we used to get all hw and top 10 sw numbers the second the thread is posted. Now we get almost nothing, even MS and Nintendo didn't publish any numbers this time.

3DS > 169k probably by (quite) a bit since PS3 also sold more than that
Vita > 40k I think I read somewhere in this thread.

TW101 was prob brought by main hardcore crowd which could make a lot of its sales digital.

aka the Vita Defense.

Is that going to be a new catchphrase?

the userbase on Nintendo consoles only wants Mario and not "whimsical colorful games" in general.

pretty much.

3 ~ 550k, 360 ~ 61%

I thought everyone said GTA sold more on PS3.

[*]Diablo III - 550K; 360 SKU - 335.5K

So 360 got the lions share of Diablo 3. hmmm.

Ugh, the lack of any precise numbers is frustrating. Pretty meh month in my opinion, besides GTA V and the 3DS, that is.

Yes.. thanks for the pie cream. I suggest that people calculate using 95k for Wii U (I would do it, but I'm very bad with these things) because CosmicQueso, that apparently has access to NPD, hint this number earlier in the thread.

Now, only 3DS missing. If you can help us cream...

Assuming gray is "Wii," black is "PS3," blue is "Wii U" and green is "360," there is no 3DS portion...so I would really like to have some hint of 3DS sales as well. :)
