I thought it was always the case that all compatible digital content will transfer across. This doesn't mean PS3 games, unless it's something with a cross-compatible PS4 version (eg Flower). But it does mean your TV shows, movies and music.

This person on twitter specifically confirmed games, and was actually unsure about other content. So there's that.

Yeah but this twitter account was asked explicitly about games and confirmed GTAV.

Even if this is partially true it means there could be two good news incoming.

Games don't need to be rebought to work on Gaikai.
Gaikai could launch in 2014 in Europe, or at least in the UK.

This sounds like just the thing to re-confuse people who didn't know PS3 games are the same whether delivered digitally or on a disc.

If this was true then why would they even bother doing those 1080p versions of flow and flower for the PS4? This is just a big misunderstanding.

And that hasn't stop a company like Sony or MS........ But yes that is what I expected when I heard the news, that you will be able to stream the PS3 games you bought over PSN over Gaikai.

Why do People give a Tweet from some sales guy from a retail shop so much weight? They will tell you all the BS if it helps to sell systems.

Could be related, but could also be the special edition A Link Between Worlds that they're doing or the DriveClub delay...

It does definitely sound like Gaikai stuff, but I'll head down to the store I used to work at in a bit and see if they know anything or can clear anything up.

So what Sony has said about Gaikai and PS3 retrocompat' in the past? What's Playstation Cloud? They were hinting at a retrocompat' solution in Feb13.

I think it's totally real.

Can't possibly be true for games, maybe video content but I would have thought goes without saying anyway. Amazing if it was true though.

Thank you for posting fellow GAFfer.

If true, then this will be amazing news indeed. I no longer have my PS3 but I always add to my cart all the PS+ goodies so I might revisit some titles and play others later on the PS4 if this ends up being accurate.

One thing, why in the hell would Game be happy with this, if it's true?

They sell games and they are going to be happy that everyone has their PS3 games collection on the PS4?

It's OK to hope it's true but if not blame Game, not Sony.

If they didn't also confirm retail games, this does not mean digital games because it's the exact same effort and retail is more important.

I'm not saying it's true, but this 'tales from the ass' stuff has to stop. That guy the other day said Drive Club was about to be delayed and right away the 'Tales from the ass' meme started and all those guys look pretty stupid right now.

The prospect of them having ported the thousand(s) of games on PSN to PS4 in secret is ridiculous and PS3 emulation on PS4 hardware would require unholy witchcraft.

So yes, I'd say it's bs and he's probably talking about Gaikai.

But the only thing I can think of its that Sony has come up with some dev tools to recompile all ps3 games to ps4. That would be the only scenario I can think of PSN games working and retail discs not working.

I wonder how they'd manage it if it was true? Surely emulation would be a right bastard, maybe not so much for PSN only games but I own loads of downloaded versions of full games.

How the hell could they emulate something like Uncharted 3 or The Last of Us? It just doesn't seem possible on the PS4.

I have no idea how this would even be possible since there's no Cell in PS4. Maybe emulation but to figure out something this late in the game out of nowhere? I don't buy it. Not one bit.

Via Gaikai? But what about Phyre Engine powered games? They should be pretty compatible.
