Ninja Theory continues hiring spree, seemingly has multiple console projects [Co-op]

Hopefully an original action IP with the gameplay quality of DmC without the baggage of the liscense...
Would be very down for this.

or Enslaved 2 for that matter.

Ninja Theory just needs to learn what a locked framerate is, and preferably a locked 60fps. Framerate issues have let each and every one of their projects down.

I enjoyed Enslaved and Heavenly Sword but it makes me sad this developer is still around when so many superior ones have closed up shop.

They were hoping for 1 million shipped and only did 800K: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/...r_First_Half_Of_2010_Enslaved_Falls_Short.php

That said, Namco has had notably worse bombs than that.
Sell-through was terrible though.

Garaph has it at around 170K in Japan for both SKUs and it sold less than 50K in the US in Feb. I doubt Europe gets it much higher.
EDIT: Oh I thought you were talking about DmC for some reason.

Anyway, I'm going to assume their partner publisher isn't Namco Bandai anymore, nor Capcom after those games. And really when all of the projects you've had published are commercially poor/failures, even with the rationale you posted above, I don't really see why publishers continue to have any faith in Ninja Theory.

(I played and liked Enslaved)

EDIT 2: Enslaved did under 50K on the 360 and over/around that for the PS3 - I don't really see it having had a good sell-through rate.

Namco seemed fine with it and expressed an interest in continuing to work with NT. Granted Majin did something like 350k with the same 1M goal so NT ends up looking a lot better thanks to Game Republic.

Stop It

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.
Well, I liked DmC, and would love to see Enslaved on my PC, so I welcome whatever these guys can bring, especially as a UK developer.

I'm worried though like many devs that expanded this gen, only to have a bomb that kills their entire company that they don't over-extend themselves and have to rely on one project to fund the other, because we know that ends.

Still, I wish them luck with whatever they are doing.

I wouldn't mind DmC2 or Enslaved 2. Is there any direction for them to go in with a Heavenly Sword 2? I played about half of it a couple years ago and then shuffled it into my backlog, so I don't know how it ends.

A sequel to DmC or Enslaved and a new IP would be good news to me though.

I hope they make DmC 2. I just finished DmC a few days ago and the game was awesome. Pure bliss to play and look at.

Hopefully this has nothing to do with DMC. I can't see co-op in that game so I'm hopeful it's not but who knows with Capcom.

Well, here's what Capcom said on that:

IGN said:
“DmC is the sort of game where you want to hoard all the enemies to yourself in order to get your ranking up, so if you’re having to fight with the person that you’re theoretically co-operating with it would just create a skewed set of priorities. At some point in the future, if we can figure out a way to solve that then maybe; but for this one you’re going it alone as Dante.”

Co op already existed in DMC3 as a rudimentary gimmick. You could use a 2nd controller to play as Vergil during the Arkham fight. Likewise when Dante has the Doppelganger style equipped the clone he creates can be controlled by a second person. In Super Dante mode you can play the whole game cooperatively. Its just for fun obviously but it does exist.

It's not impossible for a DMC game to have Co op especially if its online Co op. Otherwise you would have to do split screen Co op.

I am perfectly fine with having Co op in a DMC game. Dante/Vergil, Dante/Nero, Nero/Vergil, Dante/one of the girls... just give me more DMC games!

As far as the whole problem of acquiring style points in a Co op environment the answer is simple... you have a shared Co op style meter. Everyone makes contribution to the main bar but at the mission ranking screen both players are also ranked individually. It wouldn't be too different from how RE5 handled it.

I enjoyed your comment but it makes me sad you're worried about this when there are so many superior things to care about :)

Its a bit sad that one game fucked them over. To where you can't make a topic without them getting shitted on.

They should have never agreed to touch DMC or Capcom should have given it to a team that was obsessed with the other games or something.

They've learned a lot - a LOT - from developing DmC, but I hope they get back to their own franchises from now on so they can prove themselves and live or die by their own talents and not someone else's good name.

The hiring spree continues, now revealing at least one of the games has co-op.

Enslaved 2 ?!, IIRC it got Melee combat, a shooting of a sort, and some stealth (not sure about the stealth), not to mention Monkey and Trip could make some sort of Co-Op.

Anyway I am glad Ninja Theory are expanding, these guys have talent, I am interested to see more of them, as long as it got Enslaved quality of story telling.

Heavenly Sword 2 and DmC 2 with co-OP and online co-OP.

:p probably another character action hack and slash game which is their bread and butter.
