COD shouldn't be a graphics-heavy game - it has never been. I'm interested to see how they manage to make the next-gen versions look considerably better anyway. The only thing I visioned as the improvements were 1080p with 60fps guaranteed. If Xbone can't give us that, then it's going to be a storm of negativity.

Oh, my popcorn's ready!

Before the bomb is dropped, I'd just like to say what a great username you have it's been a pleasure...what's that light in the distance there..it's heading right thi.....

Yep. Even BBC HD is still only 1080i

So why people are going out and buying 4K tvs is anyones guess. We are a good ten years away from 4k tv. Just like high speed internet, its not a tech problem, its an infrastructure one.

Because people can watch 4k movies already on the sony player, but back on topic:

It's ok I only have a 720p TV.
720p textures so it's balanced with resolution.
You'll get used to it.
I sit too far away

EDIT: Also didn't CBOAT say not to expect 1080p?

are all going to be the next slogans

DF is still going to be fun this gen. Will be interesting to watch the Wii U and Xbox One fans debate who got the better version.

So, like that pic with the two chimps fighting with switchblades, while people cheer?
Chimps = XB1 and WiiU
Spectators = PC and PS4?
:eek:

On topic: Hooooly crap, I don't think XB1 owners would enjoy a (what could be) a blurry mess of a game on their next gen system.

I struggle to see how they can make the wii u version 1080p and not the xbone version. Maybe it has cut back aa and lighting or something.

Given the choice between

720p COD

and

Xbox One OS that crashes / hangs once per user session. Flaky ass multi-player.

I think 720p COD is the lesser of the two evils.

I'm still wondering if it will matter to the average consumer.

This gen has been completely sweet with 720p as you know its native anyway, how do you foresee that looking 1080p squished to 720p or are you taking the piss? :p

we've heard rumblings that the framebuffer causes problems with 1080p. Forza 5 is 1080p and 60fps, yes, but it doesn't have deferred lighting, which most games (like COD) seem to be using. certainly all the games we have confirmed as being below 1080p are using deferred lighting.

if COD is less than 1080p, then I think we can definitely say the jabberings of CBOAT with regards to the framebuffer are probably true, because certainly it doesn't look to be stressing the CPU or GPU.

If this is what we think it is, its not just this thread we gotta worry about or the cod discussion its gonna effect every other thread on Gaf especially leading to launch and possibly beyond...

...oboy. Fuck it, I'm out. See y'all later. It's been real.

*closes fallout shelter door, locks it firmly*

Oh shit. I...I have to wait for official confirmation on this. How can a game this bad looking be only 720p on XBO? If that is true, it gives a lot more credence to that comment a few months ago about it taking like 30 days to get a PS4 version running at 1080p@60fps unoptimized and it took 90 days on XBO and it wasn't even running a stable framerate of 30 or something like that

downscaling 1080p to 720p actually gets you something that looks better on a 720p than native 720p. ask PC GAF.

Of course not, but many average consumers are informed by the core gamers. So if I tell my friend one version is drastically different than the others, he's going to want that better version. They may not see an actual difference, but knowing there's a difference affects purchases.

Got to love these wildfire threads. Posts coming in faster than you can catch up. Stay up far too late to see if there's any confirmation, then wake up early to see where it's at.
