I know, right? Banished hits all the points that I want out of a town sim. Anno and Settlers were my most played games of them all and this will fit in nicely.

Yes, thank you fellow GAFfer, so good. I really want to play this game. Can't wait for more info or some gameplay, I think he said that a demo won't happen anytime soon or at all, but I would be happy with some nice gameplay to be honest.

Dear Monk, the developer (Chris Bischoff) is also active in the Indie Game Development thread. Here is a recent update from the thread.

Hopefully the game isn't pulled because the developer can't be arsed sending Valve a patch. :p

I don't really need a tag, but I figured I'd get one to make people jealous. Is it working?
Guys, let's list and rank our favorite sales:

1. Winter 2012, I think that's when I got the Valve Complete Pack 2012 and traded it for Skyrim, and also the BMOC hat for TF2.
2. The coal one, Winter 2011. because that was pretty funny.
3. The Treasure Hunt one because again, pretty cool TF2 hats.
4. Potatoes. I don't think I got anything for it so it goes last. It was pretty neat though.
5. The summer of cards actually got me a lot of free games so maybe that should be first. But maybe not because the novelty has worn off and now I'm just entitled.

Gamersgate has 75% off Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit.
(Also 75% off Primal Carnage and Ravaged, but I didn't think there would be much interest in those =p)

Anyone pick up PixelJunk Monsters? I assume it's a well done port, right? I enjoyed the PS3 version back when it came out.

Played through Gone Home last night. I think I overpaid for it at 10 bucks but it was an interesting experience.

My wife and I have put several hours into the co-op mode and we haven't experienced any issues with the port. I think it is easily worth the asking price.

Just a side observation full of cosmetic vacuity, but I really miss Civ 2 (I think). In this one when you constructed something, the building appeared in your town view. Not a dealbreaker but it really added to that connection between stats and game world to me.
Nowadays, you're lucky if the game takes the time to draw a wonder.

I miss the throne room. There's mods to bring it back in Civ 5, but it's just not the same.

It's a fantastic port and will run on a toaster. Everything in singleplayer is great. The game is completely steamworks integrated so multiplayer is a breeze to start up(although there are some quirks to mp). You can use both kbm or controller and it also has local play if you're into that. I've played for around 10 hours and the game runs really well on both Windows and Ubuntu. If you enjoyed it on PS3 you'll enjoy it on PC/Steam.

Caught this on Eurogamer during lunch

Rest of the article/review is from 2010. Cutting it a bit fine if it's meant to be out on PC this week. Surely there would be a store page ready or something?

It's not really that uncommon for games to not have store pages until they're released.

Civ 3 still had that iirc..

Not only did Civ 3 have it, but Civ 4 actually incorporated it into the world map itself: e.g. if you built a barracks or a temple the city model would adapt dynamically and grow to include them. Once you knew the models for each building you simply could look at an opponent's city and know exactly what buildings it contained. It's a real shame they dialed back on that for Civ 5.

Yes, I absolutely agree here.

A lot of these late ports come out without much advertising.

Dark Matter is still slated to be released on GamersGate in two days, despite being removed from Steam and GOG. It's a Steam key too, so you might wanna try to get it from there if you want to experience the climatic finale for yourself.

Edit: Nevermind, I see they've removed the BUY button, so I guess it's in the same boat as Steam/GOG.

People that bought bridge constructor in the Indie gala or groupees bundles are getting steam keys.

Nice to hear. I was worried that wouldn't be the case since the developer had been blatantly ignoring that question since the game was greenlit two months ago.

Edit: Apparently I didn't buy either bundle. D'oh!

Fair point. Though you would think Bamco might want to generate some sort of buzz, pre-order options, discount and so on rather than just putting it up when it's out. Then again they're not the most savvy bunch. NA PSN and today the EU PSN got it on there so don't know if that bodes well for 6pm GMT today or Eurogamer got their wires crossed.

Civ5 shows special buildings directly in the world map, in the tiles directly next to the city in which you built them.
While it's way less aesthetically pleasant, it's more rational (like, now you would have a mill directly on a river instead of cluttered inside the city).

...well, except when Stonehenge or the Pyramids appear underwater just off the coast ;)

But I take your point. :)

Actually, it doesn't just show these buildings when completed, it also shows them while under construction. If you are alert, you might be able to notice your opponent building a particular wonder and act accordingly. Especially useful during a Space Race ;)

Ah, it never occurred to me, but maybe it's just because I'm not really into navigation and tend to stay away from small islands, where there's plenty of ground around my cities. ^^

quoting myself from the other Dark Matter thread

The game seems to still be available on GetGamesGo.com

It is a steam redeemable key

I have been having problems on getgamesgo for a while though, pages not loading correctly so hopefully it works for you guys.

Guys, can we stop talking Civ V now? I have to go home, cook and tidy. Not smoke and curse at my PC while I play an entire game of Civ V and you people are tempting me.

Oh who am I kidding...

I found some more Steam keys for games I already own in old bundles.

edit: was meaning to make it a free for all, but forgot to add "MULTIENTRY". Is there some way to tell Modbot to change the rules? If not it will stay this way.
