Enslaved: Odyssey to the West PC port is coming this week (so in 1-2 days?)

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-10-01-enslaved-odyssey-to-the-west-review

Enslaved: Odyssey to the West was a modest success when it launched in 2010. Modest in sales, that is - the few that played Ninja Theory's breezy adventure have often become passionate fans of it. Namco Bandai's hoping to convert more players as it finally brings it to PC this week. To celebrate, here's our original review.

Assuming no weekend release, this means either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

YES YES YES YES YES

great framerate, great resolution!! I've waited years for this. I expect great things from this game! It always looked really cool!

I've heard nothing but good things about this game, sales figures aside.

Really looking forward to playing it the right way.

Huh, this is neat for those who wanted it. I'd heavily suggest a controller for the game though, don't see it being possible with a kb+m.

Hopefully can buy it at launch. Did enjoy what I played on the PS3, but low res, low fps turned me off and could not finish.

Combat gets incredibly stale as soon as you realise what it consists of. World exploration is cool but that style of platforming just pisses me off, because it consists of going "node to node" with no real ability to do things your own way in the environment (ala Mirrors Edge). Feels lazy. I also felt like the world got really boring once you leave ruined New York.

I will never understand why people beat one off over this game. I seriously think people just attach to it because others shit on it.

And the ending is total shit. Open ended SO DEEP rubbish, please leave.

I will refrain from the massive shit talk, but this games combat is boring to say the least. pc bros if your interested in a good action game check out dmc4. And wait for info on the pc port of metal gear rising!

I thought the combat was fine, but most of the environment traversal is beyond a joke. The game will not let you jump to your death (other than one small part near the end of the game), so I finished the platforming segments by rotating the left stick and mashing A.

I will probably get this when it gets cheaper though. Don't really have any money right now and there are other games I want before it.

Its a fun game but yeah, the gameplay (both the combat and traversal) are pretty basic.

Combat isn't really what this game's focus. You are comparing apples and oranges. Also DMC4 isn't a good game.

DMC4 is pretty great compared to enslaved! lots of stuff to master, some crazy depth(personally im a dmc3 guy but its fine) what would you say is enslaved focus? character models? story?

This.

Not so much this.

Pretty much, it's in the vein of, say, Uncharted except with melee instead of shooting.

All over it! This was on a list of games I wanted for PC and that list is now growing very short!

I'd like for Bethesda to greenlight a PC port of Wet one day, admittedly only because I keep thinking that it's on the PC only to later remind myself that it isn't. I know next to nothing about the game proper!

Has anyone tried the PS3 version yet? I'm curious if it performs better than the original release.

Worst game I ever played. First game that gave me a legit headache due to the amount of screen tear on screen, not to mention the gameplay and story is SHIT.

Surely this week is a daft week to release, Batman, BF4, COD Ghosts all landing within the next 14 days

of course the argument is that not everyone will want to play those 3 AAA titles, but I expect the sales of this game will be poor as having all those game around is bound to hurt sales

Last month was GTA V. There's games coming out pretty much every week of the year now. And it'll be out before those games you mentioned at least.

For a late PC port like this, immediate launch sales are not that important.

You do this so you can put the game up for sale at 50% during Christmas, 66% in spring 2014 and 75% in summer, and gradually gather sales along the long tail without any real expenses.

Also, personally I'm more interested (that is, slightly interested) in this than any of the other 3 games you mention :p

Wasn't asking for your opinion on NT or any grieves with the game.

I'm talking about the new release. Has that improved over the original? For anyone who's actually played it.

I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to the bolded part in that post from ezekial45.
Game still sucks.

Story
though that ending is pretty lame
, animation, pacing and flow. You know it's one of those interactive cinematic experiences like Uncharted.

He is ezekial45 and he was asking if anybody has tried the PS3 version of the re-release in hope of any information regarding performance improvements.

I beat it on 360. I bought and beat Pigsy's Perfect 10.

I will still buy as soon as it is available on PC.

This is my "vote" of support for:

1) Ninja Theory making an awesome game with some of the best, subtle character arcs in modern gaming

2) Namco getting their ass together with PC ports (Darks 1 and 2 and then this)

Horray for great versions of great games.

Based NT! Hope its a good port! Screenshot thread is gonna be glorious.

I hope there's an early bird discount, though that said, with the Halloween Sale around the corner I'll probably decide to wait until the Autumn Sale regardless.

What system? Played on 360 and I had no issues with it whatsoever.

PS3 version. 360 version was better according to feedback here and from Digital Foundry.

Which I always saw as the turning point for a lot of Ninja Theory hate.

PS3 fanboys got all enraged because they were "betrayed" or some shit. Then DmC happened and they became even more stupid in their rage.

I'm sure you're not talking about me, but why would PS3 fanboys feel betrayed by NT? Because of Heavenly Sword? That game ran like shit as well and so did DmC PS3.

Shame really coz NT's art style is beautiful, especially their use of color.

No, I'm not at all addressing anyone particular just something I recall happening in forums at the time. There were a lot of people talking about Ninja Theory turning their backs on Sony and not trying on the PS3 version etc. etc.

And yeah I think a lot of it was because they embraced Heavenly Sword as one fo the early success stories of PS3. Then when Enslaved not only became multiplatform but also ran better on 360, they were vilified.

I'm not saying it totally makes sense. Who understands dumb fanboy logic.

Enslaved is an action-adventure game, something akin to Uncharted but with melee combat. DMC 4 is a hack 'n slash game. Why you're comparing them, I do not know.

No it didn't. Cutscenes were a bit rough, but when you were actually playing the game, it ran consistently at 30fps or close to it.

I really enjoyed this game, and the I'm also in the minority in thinking the ending was good. Kinda weird to throw this out during such a busy week, but if it's 20 or less I'll bite.

I actually got this game in GS' 2 for $10 sale like, the day before the port was announced. I am almost done with it. It's pretty good and looks great. A stable framerate and v-sync would improve it a lot, I agree, but I'm not going to buy it again.

This game is definitely worth $20. It's not the world's greatest or anything, but it's a solid mid-tier game. I played the PS3 version and had a good time with it. I'm sure the PC version will be really nice.

Ending was so Meta that I scarcely believe they put it in a video game.

After playing through the new Devil May Cry I'm actually excited to check this out. I've only played the demo on the 360 way back when it was released and don't remember anything about it. But after DMC my opinion of Ninja Theory has become very positive.
