Some Xbox One Game Sizes (Forza 5, Ryse, DR3)

They better hurry up with the patch that allows external hdds to work as i can see myself needing it pretty quickly.

Interesting, but I would like to know the size of CoD:Ghosts so we can compare it. There are already some CoD boxes out there, unfortunately no one has posted the game size yet.

The game cases look very nice. However, I have a feeling that it won't be hard to fill the ~500 GB on the HDD.

Welp, that external HDD update better come fast.

... And maybe with hardware revisions you can eventually just stick a secondary one straight in.

Semi related, but albert had an interesting tweet about game downloading.

Apparently after a retail disk installs, if you buy it digitally there is no download needed. Pretty neat.

Love it. I hated how the 360 DVD size limits lowered the quality of video/audio on multiplatform titles across the board.

ok i seriously now wonder how in the universe this all digital future would have worked out when this shit is the average game size

So wait, you can't plug in a HDD through the USB at launch? Not that it will matter right away but I thought that was already part of the system.

Holy shit at 47GB for Ryse!!! This means it will be a long game. Assuming all the cut scenes are rendered real time so they won't take much space.

I think that's how it is now on 360. I had the disc version of Diablo 3 installed. Never deleted it, bought it from GoD and it downloaded something small and then let me play. I assume that was the license.

I like this idea. I can see myself just borrowing discs to install and buying digitally.

Oh wow, never knew that.

Welp. That's 117GBs (heh) worth of game data just at launch. Factor in Ghost's 49GB install, and whatever Battlefield 4 will be, and I would have used up a good 200GB out of 500GB in just one day. Ugh. Totally going to buy a USB 3.0 SSD for my XBox One.

All digital future? Pah, between these games, CoD, and Killzone, there was never a chance in hell.

All digital future my ass. But hey, at least both systems let us expand our memory.

I think you are right.

Anyway, based on these games, all of the games I want at launch put together will probably be close to 400 GB.

Would have worked out? If you mean before the 180 then it's the same. The retail discs before the 180 were just install discs like they are now. Now the disc needs to stay in the console and can be resold or traded.

No shit, how in the world did they ever expect this to be a digital system? Plus, the incremental cost of a larger HD has to be tiny in these systems. 1 TB should be standard in both.

They never expected you to download most of the data since that would have been installed from the discs is my guess.

You have some high hopes for the next gen consoles if you think they'll be able to do local coop at a steady fps with graphically heavy games.

I never expected it. I just hoped for it. Forza has local co-op which is nice.

No, I mean the sizes of these shits are huge. If the emphasis was digital, and decreasing people's reliance on retail and therefore giving more control to Microsoft and devs/pubs - and it was - then the inevitable result would be they thought a sizable portion of people would be buying games exclusively digitally, no disc at all. Eventually I am sure the system would turn into an all-digital platform entirely, eschewing discs forever.

Most internet in America is not ready for such gigantic bandwidth stress. Internet sucks for most people in America for sizes this big. It just seems like such a strategy is even more ridiculous now knowing this.

Ahahahaha....wow... this gen isn't going to work... seriously. Gonna have to buy a new external every 10 games?

Or just delete when you are done with games.

Unless you are really that worried that you won't be able to play your games 10+ years from now.
