The Wonderful 101 |OT| Diplomacy has failed

If at first it requires time to handle this game, when you have learned it, it stays.
That's at least my experience quickly getting some missing wonderful heroes after a month.

Same thing as Bayonetta. you think you'll come back to the game after a month- 3 months, 6 months- and forget everything, and within 5 minutes you're a pro again. It's even easier than getting back on a bike, it's more like walking again after you've been sitting for a few hours.

I was thinking how I want Wonder Red in Smash Bros before Bayonetta, because his taunt could be long-winded introductions to the rest of the characters in the game.

"If it isn't the plumber from the Mushroom Kingdom, savior of princesses in other castles, also known as... Mario!"
:p
I imagine he would also have some catchy one-liner for his Final Smash.

In other news, I tried to get a Platinum trophy on
8-C
and all I got was
the Punch-Out bottle cap and a Pure Platinum.
Oh well.

I downloaded the demo yesterday and played on Easy. That wasn't easy haha. Game seems pretty good, I guess I'll have to buy an external HDD to download this!

I would be surprised if Smash Brothers omitted Wonderful 101. I would also be disappointed. Even a trophy assist character or a stage.

Mission
004-B or C, I don't remember which one, is my favorite so far. The mission where Red and Blue are having a little argument, I really liked the character development. What bothers me about gaming today is that people are not patient enough to understand a game, if people would give this a chance they could possibly fall in love with this game like I just did today.

That's really cool! I haven't played that chapter since the update went live, I always thought that part was kind of dumb. Felt glitchy and apparently it was!

Turns out it wasn't patched. It may have been because I was playing on 101% hard, or it just glitched out.

On operation 5.

This is just straight up the best game this year. Maybe even his best action game. Consistently impressed.

Use the right stick. I have to wonder how much of the poor reception was due to viewing the touchscreen as the "right way" to play the game. The two options aren't even remotely close in effectiveness. Right stick is incredibly easy; it's just like entering commands in a fighting game. In fact, I'm absolutely awful at entering even basic input strings in most fighting games and I still find this easy thanks to how forgiving the game is towards accuracy and input window.
Drawing is better for QTEs. Right stick is better in regular game

I just started this up earlier again thanks to some free time and I had update data/patch waiting to install; what did the patch do?

Game version is now 1.10

Edit:

Okay, so the main fix is the bug preventing some collectible figure (24).

However where there any other changers?

I want to unlock everything in this game but I don't even know where to start. Is there an efficient route toward unlocking everything? A guide you guys recommend? For now, I'll work toward bottlecaps/heroes, I guess. x_x

I wish this game sold better, maybe we would have gotten some good fan art that way.

That's the way to unlock things, collecting bottlecaps. Some of the challenges though are insane, you have to be an action master to unlock some stuff.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.

GameFAQs has a collectable guide, but it's not the most efficient in getting things in order. It does list everything though. Getting all the figures requires you to play on Hard and 101% Hard though.
Then there's the Bottle Caps... hoo boy.

I think the bottlecaps are more daunting than they are difficult.(not that I mind) I can't think of a really hard one of the top of my head that isn't achieve able if you play more smart than hard. Maybe some of the kahgoo regahs?

It just takes a minimum of 4-5 complete playthroughs to do it. On top of the game being really long for its genre.

Now that midterms are done I plan on knocking it out by the end of the weekend.

I have the Prima guide, it works well enough for me

Okay something is really confusing me.

For some reason, it seems like Unite Guts only blocks when it wants to. The main trouble I'm having is with those tank things that shoot at you and charge at you. Sometimes I block their attacks perfectly, but other times it seems like it just doesn't work, despite the fact that I feel like I'm doing the exact same thing.

From my experience, there's two possible reasons.

One. Unite Guts comes out really fast and enemies' attacks come really slow. So if you use Unite Guts as soon as you see the enemy's tell, you might be too early.

Two. You aren't locked into Unite Guts. If you're still trying to attack or press Y when you block, you'll cancel out and get hit.

Hmm okay I guess that could be it.

Another thing is that it seems like on occasion my character will randomly stop moving for a few seconds. Not sure why that is.

This could be when you're in the flattened state. Some attacks will squish you into the ground rather than knock you into the air, and you'll be unable to move for a few seconds. Sometimes the enemy or other team members will obscure the view though, so you occasionally expect to be able to move and you're not sure why you can't.

How advanced would you say the enemy and boss strategies are?

I'd say ok, but you can find just as good strategies online.

I bought it for artwork, an easy way to find collectibles and some tips on certain enemies / sections.

I know others have found it somewhat lacking if you're aiming for the top.

Ah okay. That would make sense then.

Anyway, I did the mission where
you're on that flying vehicle and have to switch between lanes to avoid missiles and reflect back that giant blue laser. Despite the fact that my eyes were burning at all the stuff happening on screen, that was a really cool section.
I really do like how much variety there is in this game, which is something I always felt Platinum Games kind of lacked.

How's the artwork? If there are a lot of good quality images in there that would be enough to justify the purchase for me. I've never bought a guide before but I can't see how I'll ever unlock everything in this game without something to help me out. I could look online, but if the book is nice to look at I'll get it instead.

There's no code.

Pretty sure it would be in the guide like it was for bayo.

Bottlecaps aren't that bad

The only stupid one is mix 100 times. And that's because the mixing system is stupid in general in this game.

Out of curiosity, I watched the Japanese version of the director's trailer, just to see how the voices compare.
I prefer the English dub.

yeah I don't like the japanese dub much either.

I prefer certain characters in japanese (immorta) but overall I just can't play it not in english

Finally finished it this morning. Haven't felt this good about completing a game since the original Galaxy, the last portion was beyond epic. Pure Platinums and hard mode is next!

I just finished the game, I am blown away. Another masterpiece by Kamiya. This is the best action game of the year, the best Wii U game so far as well. Its not just a hack and slash game, it is a love letter to action games in general. I could not believe the variety of content put in the game.

If you own a wii u and like action games you must get this game.

I've been trying for Pure Platinums (on Normal) and have generally been pretty successful but there's always a mission or two where it saves before I can re-try if I get a plat or gold rank, and then I need to start over. It's a bit frustrating.

I guess the only solution is to turn off auto save for those particular missions, and then get pure plat on both that mission and the next one before turning it on again?

I didn't even consider turning off auto-save... can you?

Better to learn the Pure Platinum requirements and to retry before the mission is over if you feel like you blew it.

Never thought about disabling autosaving though, could be a fun way to force yourself to string together more missions without being able to retry.
