Mort also said he was hearing the same thing from his sources.

EDIT: Beaten, refer here.

Didn't famounmortimer cosign all of it too?

Oh lord. Yes, I heard that snap was causing problems. I'm still hearing that snap is causing problems. What i wrote about on my blog has nothing to do with snap.

Well I had gotten a PM from cboat which I was cheekily assuming that thuway did also. But i don't report cboat PM's as news because that's cboat's news. I still don't know if that's what thuway was doing or if he had a separate source.

Here is something a dev told me after MS put out that horseshit UI video the other day.

"Kinect's voice array also does not work as efficiently as that. Hell, my X1 doesn't auto-sign me into my profile half the time. The time it takes between taking a command, and executing it has ranged between 3 to 7 seconds, if it registers the voice command. Depending on what other apps you have running, that is. I've done it with just my game running and it can take awhile. I had snapped IE with Studio Upload recording, and it crashed the console."

And another, on a different game said

"Performance in general was awful, snapping was super slow and voice commands recognition was meh. Tools are the worst part though. I mean, installing builds through a command prompt..."

I report what I'm told when I can verify that the people telling me are who they say they are. If it's wrong... it's wrong. Nothing I can do about it. But I'm not on some anti-microsoft crusade.

Snap looks totally cool in this video. I think that's a good thing. I'm not rooting for MS's OS to be a mess. I want to get a xbox one (if/when kinect is dropped). I got the OG xbox and 360 at midnight launches, for fuck's sake. I'm not hating for the sake of hating.

Can't wait for my teammates to be too busy watching youtube to help me win a game in Haler or whatever the fuck I'll be playing. IT'S NOT LIKE THEY EVEN PLAY NOW.

Tomb Raider on main screen. Lara Croft porn on the snap mode.

It's the future!

Man, I hope this isn't true, but I'd feel bad if everything turns out fine at launch. I like thuway and he'd get a lot of shit thrown his way if everything works fine.

Things could well be fucked up right now, but ironed out by launch. Doesn't make what he said any less relevant; that could have been the situation at that time. I would hope that MS would be able to get the kinks out at launch; I don't expect to see a completely broken OS on day one.

I completely understand, I'm just saying that's still how it would end up in the public eye, even if it was true at the time.

Just wondering about some things to put other things in perspective.

The people giving info about snap not working correctly are game devs right?

The games that they make have zero to do with the OS code, I'm assuming.

So is it not 100% possible that the OS code they currently have may indeed be borked, but because they don't have the final code?

I'm pretty sure after the initial shit-storm Penello came and said that only certain people had seen the latest OS code.

Let's don't start hatin on GAF insiders now.

The birds main grip was the snap feature crashing when signed on to XBL. There's still tons of questions for both companies UI.

This is not a feature for me, but if other people like it then good for MS.

Seems kinda pointless to browse on the TV or skype on the TV while playing a game, when I could just do that through any number of other devices I have at my disposal while keeping the game full-screen.

Er...couldnt famousmortimer simply be right at the current point in time.

Today is November 2nd. November 22nd is the launch date. MS literally has 3 weeks. For computer programs, 3 weeks is a LONG amount of time...so at the time when there was problems, MS ironed out the bugs.

Flawless launch and at the same time, FM would be 100% correct that the OS was non-functional.

But do anyone of us know how much exactly? What chunk of the XBO's memory footprint does Snap take up?

We don't know but people assume the worst is true. Plus the guy in his comments section said it works so if any proof is present is that it is working fine. Pretty sure like 1-2gb of RAM is dedicated to OS usage. Maybe a little bit less than 2gb. The numbers have changed over time as they optimized it I presume.

Someone should remind him then:

Yes, I came into that thread after the video of Snap was up and said, at that point, that I hadn't said a word about snap but I had heard things about snap. AT THIS POINT IN TIME THERE WAS A VIDEO OF SNAP WORKING! So knowing that the whole thing was a moot point I posted what i had heard about snap. Which... was moot. Because we are seeing snap working.

I have never been on #teambrokensnap. My entire article is about XBL related functions... which is what my tweet up above saying that I've heard from even more devs was about.

This past week is teaching me why gaming journalists hate their audience so much... it's extremely frustrating when people bend what you say to fit their own narrative. I will take part of the blame as well because just because something is clear in my head doesn't mean I'm presenting it in a clear manner.

Anyway... snap is fine, snap looks great in videos, I only mentioned snap rumors *after the fact* because I was asked... I wasn't mentioning them as proof of snap being broken. That would be pretty dumb to do in a thread with a video of it working.

It'll be great for all those unskippable scenes in Metal Gear.

Wait guys the bros who keep showing the UI are never online. So let's just wait for that.

We were also being told that these things would take "months rather than weeks" to fix though.....which spurred a load of "PSN > XBL" type news/blogs/threads.

He could be right yes however (this is not a dig at him) it's easily deniable considering no proof has been provided in the first place.

Thuway said it was broken and you said "everything he said" is what you were hearing too.

You backed up his claim.

Oh shit this is rich. You bent info to fit your narrative that the Xbox One OS was in turmoil when you co-signed Thuway. Don't blame people for comprehending what you're doing. Now you're attempting to backtrack away from it. People should call you on it, just like they call gaming journalists on it.

Also, wasn't it CBOAT who commented after thuway and he were stating such thing that actually it wouldn't take the "months" we were being told it would take to fix?
Jup. This is what CBOAT said about that
today, snap is brkne. Ffac.t. M@aby e (an dpbrobly )() fix fo alaunch
Translated by Amir0x
Today, Snap is broke. Fact. Maybe (and probably) fix for launch. Today connectivity and party is broken. Fact. And Maybe fix before launch.

So if it works at launch then everyone can forget this ever happened??

Seems flaky to me.

Er...*looks at the OP video*

Kind of looks there that one video has a guy playing KI and at the same time, snapping to IE. Seems like it is working....

re: GAF insider
I don't think FM actually said anything about snap not working...he was referring to certain Xbox live features being broken so those are two different things...(Friends list not working is a XBL problem that won't affect the snap functionality).

I've been wrong a bunch. I was wrong about Mirror's Edge 2 being a X1 exclusive. Same with League of Legends and Hawken (I assume... because there hasn't been a peep since pre-e3). I was wrong about Demon's Souls 2 being at launch event in a couple weeks (well, im not wrong yet, but after you watch it I will be wrong). I was wrong about MS moneyhatting devs to not show PS4 builds at e3.

I'm not ever going to argue that I'm always right. I'm not. No one is. Fuck, we've had executives give out bad info about their own machines. I don't mind being wrong. It happens. But with this freaking snap thing... it's driving me nuts because I'm getting hammered on it and it wasn't me. CBoaT and Thuway were the ones talking about it publically. I only posted after the fact... with info that was moot - being that it was after the fact.

Well of course it was.... at a certain point in time. It's software, that's what happens. Which is why it does seem strange to me to that we had a huge thread based on the functionality of an OS months before it was actually ready for use. I mean who really cares if the OS was buggy a few months ago, if it's fully functional at launch why does it matter? Why bother making such a big deal about it?

You think he shouldn't get shit thrown at him when it turns out to be false? That's kind of the gamble you take when spreading rumors
