MS promises to bring more first party games to PC

What first party games? They got what, halo and forza? Does Kinect work on PC?

Halo and Forza sound fine to me.
Dead Rising 3 on PC sounds like a no-brainer to me. Ryse might make its way over, but I wouldn't expect that until mid-2014 at the earliest (wouldn't wanna overshadow the graphics on the Xbone version). I would love to see the Gears series on Steam as I've been holding off on playing them for too long.

I'm just hoping they're not talking about XBLA titles as those always make their way over to Steam.

The problem is, Microsoft can't be trusted. I have every intention of believing that their interest in the PC platform is genuine, however the fact remains that they have another horse in the race and there's no guarantee that they won't give up again in a couple of years if things don't go as planned.

Valve is a safe bet for PC gamers because they are fully invested in the platform and it is in their best interest to push for its improvement. I'll need to see at least five years of solid and continuous support of PC gaming before I consider giving them a chance.

I hope none of them are exclusive to the Metro Windows Store. Although a lot of the desktop games listed in the Windows Store (like GTA IV and other Rockstar Games) redirect to the Steam Store page. Microsoft could possibly not disappoint us.

Dead rising, ryse and gears aren't first party IP's for Microsoft. That's why I wonder what they plan to bring over.

Meh. The guy is saying vaguely the right things, but doing anything about it is another matter entirely.

MS is suffering from a major lack of focus and leadership in the games space right now and it shows.

wishes it were bannable to say mean things about Marvel
Microsoft killed the Aces team who were responsible for over a decade of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and now if we ever want a modern flight sim to replace the almost ten years old FSX then someone else will have to take up the mantel.

So yeah, fuck you Microsoft. You had profitable franchises with an established fanbase on the PC and you abandoned them for no reason other than "it couldn't be marketed on the Xbox". Actions speak louder than words, and until you make some actions that tell me otherwise, your words are utterly meaningless.

How many times have we heard this talk from Microsoft about pc gaming? I lost track to be honest. They have 3 other platforms, for gaming tablets, smartphones, and xbox. So less they added resources and personnel to pc gaming and visual studio/direct x sdk don't count as they are tools/api. Lets see some see some pc games and not ports.

am I reading too much into it, or is he talking about starting up another service? That's what the last quote in the OP looks like

Pls MS. port your games to PC but don't do another shitty service. Last time you tried, you tried to charge PC gamers for multiplayer.

They said the same nonsense when they introduced GFW. Expect half assed stuff that at worst will bring more trouble than it´s worth.

Microsoft has no use or need for PC games any longer, which they have proven quite well over the last few years. I see nothing changing, except more lip service.

wonder if they're going to try to float the monthly fee again

just call it Xbox Live for PC instead of GFWL and see if people go "OH IT'S XBL OF COURSE I'LL PAY FOR THAT"

Sorry, but all MS is doing is blowing smoke up the ass of gullible people. So yea go ahead and get your hopes up and get excited. In a year or two when none of what they say comes to fruition...I'll pretend to act shocked.

Setting up a service like GFWL doesn't seem cheap but if they're so into losing money i'd say give it another go MS.

This should be on the OP. Bunch of fucking bald faced liars.

W8 exclusive and/or GFWL 2.0 incoming.

Meh, MS has very little I care about that I haven't already played. I guess Halo or Gears (NOT 4 or Judgement) would be cool? Even though I've already played all of them. Or Kameo... eh, maybe Sunset Overdrive?

Can't say I care too much either way.

Available on steam or bust

Seriously I don't deal with any drm but steam and old-school console drm

So for PC games GOG or steam and I buy. Otherwise not happening

Beautiful Summary of MS's history of BS on bringing games to PC

You had to pay $50 a year for GFWL originally?

Wow just wow, let me lie down for a minute

PC gamers were smart enough to not pay for it. Wish I could say the same about console gamers.

Games from Microsoft might be cool, if they wouldn't require Windows 8 and they're not going to come up with another dumb storefront. Not sure what I'd actually buy from them though, except Halo games with working online co-op.

Thanks for that. Forgot all about them charging a yearly fee to use GFWL. I wonder how many people they actually got to pay into that.

They should bring more to console instead. 360 was really lacking.

Partially because everything was on PC too, even if many were 3rd party games. But that's their philosophy since they entered gaming. Game on everything under the sun except a Sony platform=exclusive.

Eh, I'll welcome the option. Of course, I'd rather just buy MS published games straight from Steam but I know there is not a chance in fucking hell that will ever happen.
There are a lot of MS published games on Steam right now.
And I won't buy such games anywhere else.

I would happily welcome Microsoft putting out their published titles on Windows as long as they don't do any Windows store exclusive shenanigans.

Keep your evil claws away from pc gaming MS, you tried to AOL online gaming with GFWL and got spat out, we won't forget.

Not so much smart as it's an open platform so they can't force you to pay for this garbage
what does this mean? people who aren't forced don't have to rationalise it, they don't have to go through the stages and end up with acceptance

that's why I cringe every time I see people switch to windows 8 for a few fps in battlefield
win8 is the first probe in making an apple like walled garden out of windows, it starts with the UI (putting their own crap on your desktop) and the metro store (app store) requiring ms to approve applications before they can run on it
again consumers spat out the app store but they won't stop trying
The idea was to get people to move to their metro front and store and eventually phase the desktop and 'unsigned' applications out

It'll come slowly and gradually, but if the pc community allows each tiny probe and step then in 5-10 years we'll be looking at a walled garden OS

Look at how gradual dlc and microtransactions have happened or how MS managed to get millions of people to resign to paying to play the map packs they already bought in the games they already bought on the consoles they already bought , online.

Keep the platform open, at all costs and don't trust and do not enable MS to fuck up the platform.

Amazing post, well done!
