Senyuu episode whatever.
Still zzzzzzzzzzz. And suddenly masochist cats.

Free 01
Rich creamy shit.

Kids on the Slope 09-10
Good enough episodes. Fang is still the worst thing they did to the show I hope they redeem him somehow but I doubt it. Anyway more angst and drama. Episode 7 is still the highlight of the show I think.

Shit's about to get real.

Didn't feel like there was all that much new in here, it was mostly ONA stuff. But that scene with
young Myoue trying to kill himself before he gets adopted
was pretty grim.

And next week's episode is a live-action special with the seiyuu? wat?! ...I guess it makes more sense than a recap episode of a series that is already made of recap.

It is the only reasonable assumption. The timing of what happens is too perfect, and the accidental activation is too unsupported by every single thing we see in the entire show, and it aligned too perfectly with everything he had planned up to that moment. One or two coincidences I might believe, but when you get as many as were involved in that set-up, we call that a pattern, and behind a pattern is a plan, and the one who planned it was Lelouch.

It's too perfect to be anything other than his own plan.

I think your hatred of Lelouch is clouding you on this. By all standards, we the viewers are supposed to believe that it was unintentional on the part of Lelouch. You could make an argument that it was intentional but the show portrays it as an accident. It was good timing for Lelouch though and if anything, he is a great opportunist.

EDit : holy shit, cnet just deliver ether to corvo.

I don't think this word means what you think it means? I wasn't aware that Cnet or I were trying to ether one another.

I apologize if that wasn't the impression I was giving. The show does what it does to keep letting you hashtag your dude of choice, but that's not stopping me from calling crap on a plot twist we all know is just too convenient.

I kind of like this as a narrator device. Though I'm still unsure if its better for the audience to know more than amnesiac Banri.

From what I hear of the novel, that's exactly what it is. The first person narration will switch from regular Banri to 2spooky4meBanri.

Regardless I'm enjoying it.

I agree that you can say the timing is convenient but timing is convenient for like 90% of fiction as a whole. Hero showing up at the right time or the wrong thing happening at the worst time is a trope in of itself. I do agree that's not good writing but it's not that big of a deal.

I scanned the novel and I didn't see the Linda classroom scene. Granted I didn't look too hard as I really don't want to read the actual LN(it might be there but possibly not in the same order). However yes there will be more Spookie Boogie scenes coming up.

Edit: Nvm, it's the prologue. The order is somewhat different though.

not unexpected. KyoAni knew exactly what it was doing

Was expecting anything between like 4 and 10k. Never expected 32k for 1 volume!

I guess Nichijou is their only true bomba in recent times.

happy because I hope they use this revenue to fund Hyouka season 2

It would seem we aren't all on the same page about the facts as presented in the series, much less about how to interpret them. Particularly, I think that it's meaningless to apply anything resembling the scientific method to Code Geass...but if you're going to do that, then all the evidence needs to be crystal clear and universally accepted as a starting point. Which isn't the case here, since there are some objections that could be made to your assumptions or premises. A few are circumstantial and can be turned around just as easily to be considered from another perspective.

Didn't want to make a new thread just for this so i'm asking here; i'm looking for some funny anime in the same vein as Astro Fighter Sunred and Cromartie High School, silly anime where characters act overly dramatic/argue about inane stuff and plots usually revolve around some small issues.

HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. I can't stand Flamenco Girl. At least Hit Girl was a badass and proud of her abilities but didn't give off such an overbearing cocky piece of shit attitude.

I'm so glad they split up, hopefully this means less screen time for her and more for newly redesigned helmet and more confident Samurai Flamenco. He needs a new partner. Samurai Flamenco and Girlfriend In Canada Cop!

Those two are great suggestions and with Gintama you get the added bonus of the occasional serious arc which is extremely badass.

Alongside Gintama and Daily Life of High School Boys I can't recommend Nichijou enough. Though that one if you can't stand cute girls then that might not be for you but I promise their best skits are absolutely hilarious. If you feel like watching something funny as hell, where they talk all serious-like, try the Zetsubou Sensei anime. Of course there's also Seitokai Yakuindomo.

If you decide to venture out of your comfort zone to a hidden diamond among anime, I highly recommend Detroit Metal City. Though that show is hilarious for other reasons, not those you listed.

the Tea Club strikes again.

I get the feeling that Koko said she loved Banri so that she didn't lose him, rather than because she actually does.

The Linda drama was intense. Waiting for them to have a heart to heart and the love triangle to commence.

Having said all that, YAY. Go Banri.

Fair enough, but I would not say that 90% of fiction strains credulity to this degree.

I think you're giving me too much credit, honestly. I'm not really looking to be scientific about this, and circumstantial evidence will suit me as well as any other. Perhaps I give an air or impression of being scientific, but only to my mind as I address the problem of accidental activation of Geass, which we all take note of as being an instance of bad writing. My argument relies most heavily, I would say, on the fact that the writers must've known they had really stretched for that scene to happen, and then didn't ever bother to try and cover up by showing someone else experience it.

But then, most of R2 can be summed up as "They just didn't care" anyway.

Watching Ouran High School Host Club right now and it seems to fit most of your criteria. I'm enjoying it a good amount too.

I was thinking that as well at first but think about it
she already knows Banri isn't bullshitting around. Pretending to be in love with him would be really obvious for him since he knows her quirks quite well by now.

Yeah, I don't know, I remember most people posting positively about her when this episode aired.

I'm sorry, but I must respectfully disagree.

Linda is improving, but we still don't know much about her. I also don't like her hair cut.

Koko is still best girl.

comparing anime girl haircuts. is this what i've become!?

Linda's haircut > Koko's haircut

I guess I'm just a little put off by how loony and manipulative Koko is. Granted, that's kind of the point of the story, but that doesn't mean I can't like the more normal person more. :p

Unless my theory about Linda being the terminator turns out to be true.

I don't see a reason to acknowledge accidents as a possibility when the show itself does not. There is no evidence to support their existence. Mao never mentions any, and C2 never bothers to say that.
Rolo
never has any. Lelouch only has the one, and at such, as you yourself concede, a convenient point that there is literally no way that was "just an accident".

Okay, I'm pretty impressed that you're still trying to argue your side at this point, but you're still not really making much sense.
You're just messing with semantics. What is an "accidental" use of a power other than one that the user didn't actively intend to perform? You could just as easily say that Mao has had millions of "accidental" usages of his ability - every single mind he has read that he didn't want to read was an "accident". It just happens that those accidental uses weren't quite as damaging as Lelouch's one accidental use. Though since collectively they drove Mao insane, I suppose you could argue they were pretty damaging too.

Mind control isn't the only power Geass grants, and covering the eye is only useful in Lelouch's particular case. Consider Mao: All his Geass does is let him hear people's thoughts. Covering his eyes would not and in fact does not help him at all. When we're introduced to Mao no mention is made of him accidentally being able to hear people's thoughts, he just can't stop himself from doing so. We're told that Geass use makes Geass permanently activated, which is significantly different from Geass activating at complete and utter random on its own. If I use my power and then it doesn't want to shut off, that's entirely different from if my power just turns on and doesn't want to turn off, and it is the former, not the latter, that we're lead to believe, especially because, and I will stress this ad nauseum, never, ever, ever do we see any accidental activation of Geass with any other character in the show, ever.

Okay, I can see what you're getting at here, but it still seems like a pretty small technicality.
As you say, Mao is the only case of Geass becoming permanent that we see before it happens to Lelouch. We don't see any of the details of how it happens to him, so I don't think it makes any sense to make the assumption that it becomes permanent only by "staying active after an intentional usage" any more or less than it does to assume that it becomes permanent at a random moment when it's not being actively used. We're given no evidence either way until we see it actively happen to Lelouch. At which point it becomes fairly obvious.

I mention him because it is the frequent usage of Geass, and not a period of usage which triggers permanent activation. And in his last episode, he abuses the hell out of his power. It doesn't take longer, it takes more usage.

That's nice. I still don't see how Rolo is relevant unless you're trying to imply that the
permanent activation
phenomenon doesn't exist at all.

Sure there is: Lelouch had one very important audience member to entertain there, after all: himself. This is the man who lies to himself frequently for the sake of massaging his own ego, after all. I see no reason to believe feigning concern doesn't come into play here, too.

Oh it was most definitely a subconscious desire. The subconscious desire to believe he
loved her enough to try and stop her. Which he didn't, because Lelouch doesn't love anyone.
Putting on an act for himself is part and parcel for Lelouch. It in no way disproves his conscious willingness to do what he did.

Aaaaaaand I could carry on arguing, but there's no point any more because you just abandoned your own side of the argument and started arguing mine. You just outright stated that Lelouch
honestly believed on some level - some level prominent enough that he would physically act as though it was the only level - that he didn't want this to happen
, at which point this is no longer any different from the "subconscious" perspective which I've already accepted is a possible interpretation. We're just arguing semantics over which side was his "subconscious" and which was his "conscious".

And at the end of the day, when we get down to arguments as subjective as that, what matters isn't what the evidence suggests, but what the show intended to depict. And the show certainly never made any attempt at depicting Lelouch's regret for that act as anything but genuine, so I don't see any point in treating it that way.

I'm not that much of a fan of typical tsundere or ice queen type characters, but I've found Touma pretty likable so far, because although she can be classified as that she's not just a rehashing of the stereotype. She's not all "I-it's not like I like you or anything, baka," and it seems like most of her coldness is the result of her bad family life anyway.

Honestly, I kinda wish White Album 2 wasn't a romance. I like it just being about these three different people bonding through the music club.

Has anybody here played the Ys jrpg series by XSEED?

There's a game coming out for the vita on the 26th and I'm wondering if it's worth playing.

maybe the wrong place to ask (try gaming), but yeah I have and it's great.

I also highly recommend Ys 7 and Oath in Felghana. Available on PSN and Steam.

Sounds to me like it's you arguing semantics here, not me. "Millions of accidents".

It's been awhile since I saw the show, so I confess maybe its less pronounced than I thought, but I retain my argument that there isn't anything in the way of evidence, barring Lelouch's predicament, to the contrary, either.

That's nice. I still don't see how Rolo is relevant unless you're trying to imply that the
permanent activation
phenomenon doesn't exist at all.

I have literally no idea how you could even draw that from what I've said. You're confusing the issue for what reason, here? To make a snappy statement? Because I've been perfectly clear on which form of activation I don't think exists.

Aaaaaaand I could carry on arguing, but there's no point any more because you just abandoned your own side of the argument and started arguing mine.

Oh please, I know you're mad that you argued my argument, but trying to turn that back around is silly and beneath you. What I said in no way invalidates my statements or supports yours. Trying to take the other guy's statement and say it supports yours is an old and withered tactic. Neither of us needs to rely on such cheap theatrics any further.

In conclusion, Lelouch did it on purpose. He wanted to, the show says he does and, oh why I do believe he flat out says to Suzaku that he did. Suzaku even records him saying it.

All that really expresses is that I like both girls equally, and especially the interactions between the trio. My main hope is that it doesn't shift the focus onto a pair too much. As you said, keep that focus!

I am continually impressed this show is as good as it is.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure TV 17

This episode ended up being more interesting than it appeared to be at first. I liked the fight because it had Jojo's tricks being turned against him
though of course Jojo thinks faster in the end. I had to laugh at the decisive blow being accomplished by a geometry puzzle.

So what's the standard way the Pillar Men's names are written? Should I write Wamuu or Wham?

Well, with the fighting game's localization I guess Wamuu is the official name now, but I just call everyone by the bands they're named after, so Wham, ACDC, Cars, etc.

man you're gonna keep with the salt all season aren't you

It is possible if Kyousougiga continues putting refried recaps in front of me while people wrongfully exclaim it is the show of the season. Now a live action recap? If we move forward with the story and they keep up with the brilliant parts that I saw early onwards, my opinion might change. Otherwise, yea, this is going to be the Watamote of the season.

Yes, buy it, I'm sure it's good. You should get all the Ys games on Steam too, because they're good.

Seeing the gameplay it looks pretty fun. Having done the research it seems like the Vita game coming out is a remake of the 4th and the 3 games in Steam are the 4 prequels. I'll play them chronologically once I play the newest I guess since it seems the plot is amnesia (Witcher 1 vs reading the novels anyone?).

Thanks for the rec. I'll wait till the december sale and see if by some chance they get discounts.

Holy shit. How long is this series supposed to be? In 6 episodes we've gone as far as other romance anime go in 20 or so. I hope there's many more to come.

And just to toss oil on the fire, Linda >>>> Koko. After all the shit she pulled, I'd stay the fuck away from Koko.
