Golden Time ep 6

The tribute to the tea club was amazing. So much shit went down and it's only ep 6. This show already put all otgher romcom shows to shame in terms of getting there although I still don't approve Chiaki Kon's directing.

Do you have enough soap to wash yourself since you've done with the episode ?
( triple pun intended )

Ah ah a but what if .. just what if that wasn't the case ... what s huge twist ( after all we do know she loves dressing up )

We already have Ana do we honestly need another trap? And apprently next week we're getting a swim suit episode so that should squash that problem

Space Battleship Yamato 2199

An emotional ending to quite an emotional journey.

Wow, what a finish to an amazing show. I really, really enjoyed watching Yamato 2199 all the way through. It might have some quirks here and there such as people mentioning the ships feeling a bit light in their sense of weight initially but this mostly goes away later. Despite these though, it's executed so well on the whole that I can really just overlook them. One of the better showcases of CG in a show as well in my opinion, such as with all the monitors and displays and detailing on the ships.

Forget just voting for it as far as some AOTY thing, personally this became one of my favorite shows ever! I would really, really, recommend people at least take a look at and give the show a chance. :)

Touga is here to seduce all the laydays with his magically opening shirt

She polished his sword every day! Hur hur hur.

Ruka is a jerk, but Shiori also isn't very nice so I have a hard time feeling that much sympathy for her. Maybe next episode will change that.
Didn't feel like the introduction of a new dude was necessary, tbh, but we'll see where it goes.

Apparently it was, I had no idea. I've been waiting for one for years, never bothered to check again until i got reminded right now.

I'm eagerly awaiting it, since I've never actually seen all of it (I know this is anathema for an anime fan), and reckon it would look pretty awesome in 1080p.

No, I don't know how I haven't seen all of it, either.

This is how Arti should handle people posting news he's already posted.
Why waste energy worrying on that anymore? If people respond more to a repost then that's either bad luck for the timing on my part or people intentionally ignoring the original one, neither scenario of which I can do much about.

And now I guess I should go catch up on Non Non Biyori because apparently it greatly improved after the mediocre (for me) 2nd episode.

Looks great retouched, but I won't be able to see just how amazing it looks unless there's a comparison video since sometimes things look better in motion. But yes eagerly awaiting, it'll go well with my new ps4.

Magical Girl Pretty Sammy 11

Misao: HEY MY MOM DIDN'T SUCK, SHE MADE ME A CHEESYCAKEY TO SHARE WITH SASAMI!
Sasami: Too bad I have other plans hahahaha!

Sasami lost her baton... And we got a new protagonist! FUNKY CONNIE!

Now, for the real important manner. CHEESECAKE! It doesn't primarily consist of cheese, what the fuck? (maybe it is...) But it's like... that makes it sound gross as a cake. Hell, it might as well be a wheel of cheese, god damn it Misa! We don't have Cheese Rolls pretending to be CHEESECAKE!

Konoha is a pretty shit magical girl. Fuck justice unless its a meteorite! And then throw it onto another town and kill them instead. NO REPERCUSSIONS! LETS BRAINWASH THIS ONE DUDE INTO LOVING ME, WHICH CAUSES SOMETHING BOTH TRAGIC AND HILARIOUS!

He loves the fake Konoha... but not the real one. Doesn't even remember her. But that's not the main attraction. The main attraction is her DELIBERATELY transforming in front of him, and he couldn't even tell who funky Connie is. I'm going with Brainwashing here, but holy shiiiit! I lost it here.

On The List of Transcendental Anime

Garzey's Wing (dub) is an amazingly incoherent personal project by the creator of Gundam paired to one of the worst dub efforts ever released commercially. The end result is pure comedy and the highlight of this list. Next to this in terms of hilariously awful dubbing are the nine Dragon Ball Z movies dubbed by AB Group, aka the Big Green Dub. These were versions comercially produced for the UK market, because it can only be surmised that AB Group, a French company, still holds a grudge against England. Dark Cat (dub) is another title of this sort but ranks lower on account of not being as consistently funny and actually having a grating voice.

Black Lion (dub), Sukeban Deka (dub), Baoh (dub), and Mad Bull 34 (dub) are all works with cheesy and fun stories with dub work that enhances their camp value. They also all lean on the highly violent side. Not outright trainwrecks like Garzey's Wing but definitely notable. Angel Cop (dub) is kind of the same, but more inconsistent. Some eps are great, some not, so you're better off focusing on the other titles here.

Street Fighter 2 V is largely an unintentionally funny mess, but it starts stronger than it can sustain, although the end is amusing. Consider this a low priority entry.

Musashi Gundoh is an animation trainwreck. All of the polish you'd expect from any remotely self-respecting production is completely absent. Coloring errors, line art errors, continuity errors, excessive looping, and so on. Basically the Yashigani ep of Lost Universe's original TV broadcast stretched into a full series.

Kenya Boy is a 1984 anime adaptation of an old 1950's manga depicting a young boy's adventures after being separated from his Father in the land of Kenya and having to learn to survive on his own. This movie resists being grouped with other titles on this list, simply because it can either be seen as a hilariously inept animation effort, being the first attempt at animation by the director of Hausu with co-direction from the man who would later direct Hermes (later on this list), an acid-laced safari as told by people who have clearly never been to Africa, or a cringe-worthy time capsule of Japanese jingoism and African stereotyping. You see, once you know a boy is Japanese, you don't need to hear anything more.

Mars of Destruction is relatively short, but impressively bad for its running time. Some call it the worst ever, but that claim is highly disputable and some parts are silly enough to be pretty funny. Take note that the reception to this title is highly variable even among those who enjoy the majority of titles on this list. ICE doubles down on the apocalyptic incoherence, adds obviously cut-rate CG, and, chances are, makes you feel like you've been incredibly trolled by the end.

School Days is an anime tragedy depicting the rise and fall of a harem protagonist. This show takes several episodes to get going, but once it does it starts moving at an exponential rate. Shuffle actually transitions from the most boring harem ever to a widespread sanity failure over the second half, but doesn't quite have the guts to follow through to the extent it should. Considering you still have to slog through the dreadful first half, this is a low priority entry. Black Rock Shooter TV makes better use of your time, and the process of building tension until it utterly destroys any suspension of disbelief is fairly rapid. This collapse transforms the entire show into comedy and deserves mention here even taken alone. Blood-C is better produced and constructed than the preceding three shows, but still shares quite a bit in common and the degree to which it gleefully indulges in misanthropy earn it a spot on this list.

Earth Girl Arjuna is an overproduced attack on modern society in the form of what Mamoru Oshii would do with a magical girl show. Many of the issues it brings up are actual, legitimate concerns, but the way it addresses them has little basis in scientific fact or thinking and does a disservice to environmentalism by doing so. The soundtrack is one of Youko Kanno's best. Bagi, The Monster of Mighty Nature is a film by the great Osamu Tezuka in much the same fashion, but focuses on the supposed horrors of recombinant genetics while actually arguing the opposite of what it sets out to do. Kinda dull in parts, though, so it's probably best taken as proof that even Arjuna was first done by Tezuka.

The Laws of Eternity, Rebirth of Buddha, The Golden Laws, The Laws of the Sun, Hermes: Winds of Love, and The Mystical Laws are all films bankrolled by the Japanese cult Kofuku no Kagaku, or Happy Science. If you enjoyed the Scientology episode of South Park then you should enjoy these films, as they eventually get just as insane if not moreso. Basically, if you ever wanted to see Thomas Edison as an archangel or Hitler leading an army while riding a giant elephant in Hell, look no further. As it happens, these films also feature really high production values. If you're able to find the dub version of these films, watch it, but given their limited availability you may not have a choice.

Code Geass is the original trainwreck anime. What starts as a legitimate mecha show with royals fighting for power and shades of Death Note eventually collapses under its own weight leaving you with a singularity of awful writing and "fuck it" direction.

Finally, Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito goes where no other show dares to go. Every episode is an experiment in new and exciting ways to be awful. Character design? Camerawork? Plot coherence? Lighting? Purpose? Think of any measure of objective quality, and at some point this show will stomp on it. However, this show still tastes of pure love, reminiscent of the best pancakes in the universe.

Titles omitted but on The List have not been viewed by the author.

Oh look it's Nafe.
And so a new arc begins, kinda early to tell how this will go but the premise sounds a bit silly.
Surely there must be better ways to find out how it ends she aint dead ya know.
Regardless, an enjoyable episode. I kinda laughed at the Tarot comparisons because now I want a JoJo Hyouka crossover. Also I was quite impressed at how they managed to nail the Amateur film feel quite perfectly for the appropriate sequences.
Also Branduil shows up at the end.

That reminds me I've been waiting for cowboy bebop remastered on blu-ray. It won't ever happen.

But a military dog can dream.

Has anybody here played the Ys jrpg series by XSEED?

There's a game coming out for the vita on the 26th and I'm wondering if it's worth playing.

Ys is a great series, and you should play all of them. Like Duckroll said, Oath in Felghana and Origin are on Steam and are great introductions. I can't wait for Memories of Celceta myself.

Why'd you have to do that
to your pretty face, Uzu? Though I suppose you're a blind badass samurai now so it's not all bad.
Definitely the best episode yet. Everything came together really nicely. I'm kinda disappointed that next ep will focus on Mako.

About Code Geass:
I'm a sucker for black and white happy endings, so I personally was hoping Euphie's plan for a free Japan was going to he actually followed through, with her and Suzaku joining Lelouch's cause and leading an independent Japan against Emperor Charles all Gurren Lagann style.

Of course it would never have happened, but it still would have been cool ;_;

I just hated that twist. So stupid and contrived. Euphie should have lived.

Nina is worst character. C.C is best girl. Shirley is Shirley.

I guess people already felt geass was bastardized towards the end of season 1 so they don't complain about R2. I found R2 so batshit hilariously bad that I didn't know what to think.

Late s1 and all of s2 fully justify Code Geass's presence on The List.

Oh yeah. I totally get that. I was just commenting on the fact that most people seem to complain and discuss the last bit of season 1 and not so much on R2.

Yozakura Quartet - Episode 5

Holy shit. That was a blast to watch. No lewdness, action packed, stuff getting real, great animation, no signs of the FBI coming for me. Fantastic stuff. This episode was produced by Trigger too. What a great showing. The only bad part is that it looks like a two-parter, so I'm going to have to wait a few days for the conclusion. When this show is good, it's surprisingly really good.

I think that
euphie plan was possible but way harder than what happenned in the end.. Even if the help of zero & suzaku , they would have to blur the lines between britanian and elevens and some people even in lelouch camp were unable to do that .

In the end lelouch polarising hate was unfortunatly the quickest way for everyone to be united , euphie couldn't do this part , because she was turned toward peace 100% They were just too many things to do before that plan could be possible , that's why it took so long to convince lelouch.. the twist happenned but that would have made the rest of the story quite pointless if they had gone with it.

Yeah, people have kind of engaged in some revisionist history with Code Geass. It was always theatrical, but the first few episodes were very straightforward, and typical school hijinks aside, it was presented as a serious, dramatic story. The first signs that something was amiss were the Mao episodes, where the show's scriptwriters started to sacrifice logical coherence for drama, and things escalated from there until the moment everyone can pinpoint as the turning point for the series. Code Geass was a trainwreck in the true sense of the term- something that starts off on a set path, and gets derailed halfway there, resulting in a disastrous spectacle that no one could have predicted.

You'll see. Let's just say that something you posted about Oreki in one of your earlier episode comments got a chuckle out of me based on what happens in this arc.

Regarding your end "spoiler"...
which person are you referring to?

Oh yeah, in that case expectations were already set by that point and people were just there for the ride.

I'm sorry peaceiscloser but your idea would have made for a terrible show. All the good guys teaming up together is how every other show does it and its dumb and unrealistic everytime. R2's ending is one of the things I thought the Code Geass series actually did right. In spite of all the batshit craziness, they actually found an out and made an ending that was plenty satisfying.

I guess I should finish Brain Powerd at some point to determine it's listy-ness. If it continues as it is it certainly deserves some kind of spot.

OUT WITH IT ANTHY COME ON.

Anyway, this was a Jury episode and therefore good. She's probably my favorite character after Utena herself. This episode was surprisingly sad, which was good. I mean sad. But good that it was sad. But still sad.

I liked how they made Ruka into a likable character in the last minute of the episode.
Also he wasn't wearing the Rose Bride dress. I am disappoint.

Touga is on a holy mission to strip for everyone he knows.

Them having to shoot Mao twice in two episodes was hilarious.

I would agree the seeds for the trainwreck were already there from the start what with all the theatrics Lelouch engages in,
Clovis' murder
and of course the Zero character.
