Media Create Sales: Week 45, 2013 (Nov 04 - Nov 10)

The Vita isn't selling well. It's not even pulling mediocre sales. It's selling terribly.

Thing is, most people counted it out long ago and there was much talk of discontinuation. There was a time when a run of 20k+ weeks was a pipe dream. Next week might be the biggest the Vita has ever seen and it comes at a time when the 3DS is still riding high from the MonHun / Pokemon launches.

The fact that it's still standing in the ring blindly throwing weak punches (like a Champion) is the source of any positivity. It ain't that it's particularly alive, it's more that it's not dead. It's the plucky underdog that just won't go down.

This will be the Wii U one day.

Wondering about the 30% number as well. I suppose that is only day one sales, but would be curious to know more experienced people's take on that. God Eater looks to be opening massively, so that's nice.

Based on their Youtube page it doesn't seem like SCEJ is marketing VitaTV a whole lot. Maybe they're waiting for PS4?

Really? I preferred it over the PSP version I got free from plus, to each his own I guess.
You'd logically think direct touch interface is better for grid based strategy games but in my experience it's clumsier, slower and much more mistake prone. I had the same issue with Advance Wars on DS, the touch interface sucked while buttons were faster and more accurate.

Sorry, I was referring to TV marketing as SCEJ uploads their TV commercials to Youtube. I believe House stated that Vita TV is meant for families, and I doubt that audience is checking out SCEJ's Youtube channel, or are subscribed to Famitsu.

Gotcha.

I unfortunately don't watch much TV anymore so I can't speak to commercial frequency on TV.

Man, if Medarot DUAL didn't even make that chart I'm guessing this is the end of the road especially if Shinobi's reported publisher expectations were true.

No time to read this thread but Pac World is delayed to 2014 for all versions (3DS, PS3, X360 and Wii U). Not huge news but another third party game less for Wii U this year.

Im referring to members putting vita in the hot seat for selling so poorly when the wii u is selling much worse, and after the wii at that. Then have the nerve to complain at my goal post comment when if this were last gen, the 3ds would've been the a "failure". The 3ds would be luck to get psp's numbers after all is said and done. As smokey said, vita is not doing great but it's not going anywhere either. The revisions and vita tv are indicators.

Truth is handhelds are doing poorly in general and if sony or Nintendo wants it to prevail, they need to do something drastic. Pokemon and Mon Hun are not enough to stop or even slow the plunge but atleast what sony is doing with making the vita a companion and stream box could breath new life in the way handhelds are viewed.
The vita sold almost the same as the wiiu is selling on its first year. Both systems did horrible with less than 600k by this time of the year. The wiiu is just selling a little more awful, but both were terrible.

Also, if you really believe 3ds is going to have a hard time to do psp numbers, you will be surprised.

Well, it is downloadable in japan, so it was never going to matter much, but im happy. It looks like the exact type of bad game ive used t play on the 64 and im thinking of buying it just to scratch my itch of awful and dated platformers.

A friend of mine is planning to buy the wiiu just because the ps4 was delayed and he wants to play something on the holidays (mario is helping it too). I wonder if that will happen for someone else. I know ive never even thought of the possibility till now. lol

Just a really stupid question. Are game sales from sites like AmiAmi tracked? Like if I order x amount of Lightning Returns and they shipped them on opening day, would that be included in the weekly sales?

I personally think that the 3DS could reach PSP numbers by the end of it's lifetime.

Just pump out a DQ, MoHu, & a pogeymang title and it will be set.

Great numbers on both Vita and Wii U. Though I'm pessimistic if Wii U gonna hold up very long. Nintendo really need to do something in order to make it at least GC 2 and look promising as compliamentery system alongside other console like PS4. Too bad Green Slime's thread pilfered by waves of unjustified "no" before I could my thought on that matter D:

Hmm, so with the caveat that Comgnet is just one small chain of stores, comparison between 3D Land and 3D World:

16th Oct	89pt
23rd Oct	138pt

3D World

Releases on the 21st.

Are you kidding? When preorders opened it sold out its first shipment at amazon immediately. That's all you need to know.
Well I thought amazon wasn't the most reliable when it comes to these things. I was convinced that Vita TV will do realy well but seeing that 30% sell through I'm not sure what to think. Then again I've never seen a new hardware sell through.

He's being sarcastic. The 30% is more important: Amazon could have had a small shipment. Now, consoles sell over a long period of time so low first day sell through may not be a death knell, but it does suggest that it's failed to attract the console launch tech heads.

Damn my sarcasm meter is really broken. Yeah I completely agree with. Vita TV is a very weird thing so I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I still think that Vita + Vita TV>100k this week.

Why is the Vita doing a bit better now than before? It seems to be up in the ~20k per week region for the last few weeks I think?

We have initial shipments and sellthrough for almost every hardware launch lately.

But seeing first day sellthrough maybe means it will be tracked as an accessory.
Oh no I meant I never followed these threads when any of the new hardware launched so I wouldn't really know what to make of that 30% figure. Do we have similar data say for 3DS XL?

Mario007

For revisions it's not usual to get shipment data. From memory we got initial shipments for DSi, DSi LL (200k) and PSP Go (150k).
Oh right cool. I guess we'll just have to wait till wednesday unless Famitsu does the weekend report it sometimes does.

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Still baffled by 3D World preorders. Totally just... this is Japan right? Mario nuts, Sonic doesnt exist Japan, right~?

I'm interested in how One Piece is going to do. Its Comgnet lowness is also a concern, when this looks like a far better game than whats appeared on Nintendo systems before. The Hunting angle alone I thought would resonate.

PS3/Vita may just simply be where its audience mainly lies though, and if this title performs poorly I can see that being the takeaway.
