Killzone: Shadow Fall Multiplayer Discussion

Gameplay-wise, I just tried out Killzone Multiplayer (haven't even touched Single Player yet) and have been having a good time, though the graphics are really bugging me: The blurry FXAA, the super blurry sides, and the low FOV are really combining to give me a headache and I never gotten headaches playing games ever, low FOV or not. Maybe it's simply that I'm getting old, but has anyone else been dissuaded by the graphics?

I don't understand why people want in game chat when there is party chat... no one will talk anyway. It'll be like on the 360.

On a new system, not everyones friends have switched over, also my irl friends dont have it yet. Its nice in the launch window so I can make friends and talk to people when I play the game

is voice chat down or something? I haven't anyone talk online since the ps4 launched. I am just now getting into playing KZ multi (sogood.gif), but I haven't heard anyone talk on this or bf4 or blacklight.

glad to see it wasn't just me. I am and it even made me question if my non ps4 headset and mic were working. tested them with the built in voice commands and had no issues. maybe its something on psn...

Everyone add me! I'm 90% leveling up my Support class unlocks right now. I already hit the Spawn Beacon Level XI, so that is maxed already! Working on my ground turret and air support bots now. I think my Medic Drone is at VII.

Also, the Petrusite Grenade is amazing if only for the sound it makes when you throw it, but it's also a great support grenade to cause enemy players to evacuate an area -- just don't walk into the green energy yourself, you'll suicide!

Exact opposite for me. I'm continually floored by how good this game looks.

So I'm starting to get the feel of this game after finally understanding the layout of the maps. Also controlwise it does feel a lot more like Halo than the previous Killzone games though that might be because of the tighter sticks on the controller.

I'm sticking with the support class for now. Spawn points is an easy way to help the team and get some points. If anyone wants to add me my PSN is Ahsan65.

It depends if you want more control when you're firing. Tapping R1 gives you much more control over your shots than pressing R2 does. You can't tap a trigger as quick as a button. If you're spraying and praying, triggers aren't much of a hindrance. With a binary action like shooting a gun, a button is much better. Triggers might "feel" better to simulate a real trigger pull, but they're worse control wise.

What I hate about the DS4 is the plastic isn't rounded underneath the L2/R2 buttons (it is on DS3). I usually rest my fingers there and the sharp edges make it slightly uncomfortable.
Hm I whenever I've tried to tap R2 for more control over my shots rather than just holding it down it's worked perfectly fine for me. I guess how that feels to each person is subjective, but it doesn't bother me in the least.

The UI of multiplayer seems like a mess to me. It's hard to find your basic stats like K/D, assists, etc. You barely get to see the name of the next map, let alone the people you're playing with. There's not even a list of 'friends playing this game', from what I can tell. Just a big list of all your friends that you can scroll through. And no voice chat.

edit: yeah I'm up for a game. Add me, PSN ID is Tom-ocil. Going on now.

Sup.

MP is awesome, it reminds me of KZ2 and NOT like KZ3, which is a great thing. Teleport is hands-down one of the best abilities in the game. It's so damn fun getting in the grill of a group of players, killing two or more of them, then teleporting the hell out of there.

Btw, here are some 1080p videos I've recorded of the MP so far:

November 16th 2 hour stream

I can't seem to get your 2 hour stream video to work on YouTube. Not sure why ..

What is everybody sensitivity because this is the first game I actually have trouble keeping my cross hair on somebody.
70% X, 60% Y

Also, Spoor: worst gun or worstest gun? Seriously, what a piece of shit.

1.) Burst fire doesn't do enough damage to kill usually

2.) if you pull the trigger too early after a burst, nothing happens. You want to use it like a Halo Battle Rifle where you pull again the split second after a burst to do another burst...but the delay is super-long. You will not win a 1v1 against anyone with an auto almost ever. What's the point of this mode if you can't smoothly chain together bursts?

3.) the sniper mode requires it to be fully charged. That means waiting about 2 seconds before you can even shoot the fucking thing. That's fine for SP...but in MP where every other rifle in the game is ready to shoot 2 seconds faster? That shit does not belong. By the time you identify and zoom in on a target you usually need a sniper rifle to be ready to shoot. Tack on 2 more seconds to charge and usually the target is out of vision or opportunity is otherwise lost. The only alternative is to be zoomed in all the time which isn't realistic at all. Also, the controller shakes when holding a full charge which is a distraction no other rifle has and it makes you anxious.

...And so good luck dueling another sniper with a 2-second delay shooting, the worst scope available, and a rumbling controller.

4.) there are no scope upgrades or attachments.

5.) no fast, single shot mode.

Why does this gun exist? Someone help me understand.

Same issue, same headaches in real life for the same reason. The weird blur that comes and goes is annoying.

Otherwise loving it.

Can't say I've had the same exerience. UI has a lot of info. Friends who are playing is in the box/window at the top right corner on the main multiplayer screen. I tested it earlier by selecting a friend and joining their game from right there. The k/d, assist, etc info is the first summary window you have after the match. Haven't tried to pull it up during the match, but I'm sure its there.

Chat though is what I think a bunch of us are trying to figure out what's going on there, but it isn't just KZ that is having this behavior.

It's weird that the scoreboard is sort of hidden during the match. It's there, but you have to push some unlisted buttons to get it to pop up, iirc.

really? hmm that is odd. i figured it would be on the screen if you hit the options button.

watching the falcons/tb game right now, but i'll be hopping back on in a bit. Everyone send me some friend requests, if you want, and lets play.

ewwww at the grenade launcher attachment

1 hit kills from explosives is a huge nono in video games. Hopefully we don't see it becoming super popular. That and the air support drones are really the only 2 things I dislike about this game so far. Hopefully those two things don't get widespread :/

Added myself to the spreadsheet. I tried to play that pistol only game, but got headshoted every time. I don't even know how they shot me most of the time.

besides chat and party system being treated like contraband, the itsy bitsy font they use is almost funny...could they make the menus any worse?? maybe they thought if we couldnt see it, we wouldnt care.

Will be playing some more tonight. Loving it so far.

There were about 7k players on last night, which seems low. Either numbers don't all show, or people are too busy playing all the different games they bought at launch/the community hasn't shown up quite yet. I imagine many people are also playing through SP beforehand.

Killzone shadow fall does not offer in game chat. GG stated this themselves at some point. Disappointing.

I'm glad I'm not the only one getting sick with this game. I feel really nauseous after about 30 min of play time.

And I can play ghosts and BL Retribution for hours with no problems. :(

If it is the FOV can it be fixed? Has that ever happened to any other game?

There's a really crazy amount of motion blur in the multiplayer. It was messing with my eyes for a while and when I got up and stopped playing, I had a massive headache. You're not alone.

I just realized there's no local multiplayer of any kind in this game. In 2013, that's unacceptable.

That one map with the intense sun glare is really fucking annoying, i'll try to avoid it at all costs.

Also, run n gun is pretty damn fun.

Just got done playing my first few matches. I really enjoyed it. Started out bad but now I'm defending myself pretty well. Can't wait to play more of it.

FOV has always been a big problem with Killzone...my first time playing it on PS3 gave me a few headches as well. I eventually got use to the FOV and the headaches went away but still it's insane that it's still like that.
