Xbox One Launch Thread [Thread being archived 1/1/14]

Xbox One seems likes its much more well built then the ps4, the console and the controller.

Let's pump the brakes on the console for now. We don't know how well put together the system is until the masses get them in their hands Friday. I have hope they learned their lesson on RRoD but let's wait to make sure everything else is solid.

The last thing I want is a controller made by Mad Catz. I just want Sony to fix their bloody analog sticks. I'm not talking about asymmetrical placement. I'm referring to the portion that your thumbs rest on. Xbox One's controller is godly.

Maybe the stick caps will be similar enough on the inside that with a little bit of work you'll be able to get Xbox One caps in a PS4 controller? I've seen people that stuck replacement 360 sticks in PS3 controllers without too much of an issue.

Saw an Xbox One demo with some racing game today and my jaw dropped. Far more impressive in person than on youtube trailers; the difference is very noticeable in person.

Won't be getting one and will be getting PS4 but I do wonder how much better PS4 could actually be (resolutiongate sounds silly to me)

So if I didn't preorder what is my best shot at getting one Friday? Amazon was selling ps4s at midnight on its release so it will probably do the same for Xbox one? Or try to get to a best buy early Thursday night? I need this :(

Regarding Killer Instinct...
-Will Gamestop be selling codes for it, or do I have to purchase a "gift card" to redeem on Xbox Live and purchase the game?

-Will the 'Pin Edition' be carried across retail Microsoft Stores or just online?

I'm planning to get either the Ultra or Pin Edition, but the only Microsoft Store around here is 30-40 minutes away, ordering online will mean getting the game next week and I want to play the game day one.... :p

You can order the game through their store. I heard someone who contacted their support and supposedly they're shipping out games so that they can arrive the day of. The way I reason, even if it doesn't come friday, I'd be content playing the game as just Jago for a couple of days :p

Can someone fill me in on the Day One Edition?

I know you get the special controller with the "Day One 2013" marking on it, but what else?

The box is BLACK. That alone is worth it to me (kidding, but I'm not. That green box looks nasty).

My question with the Day One edition is this:

If you get the Day One edition console, do you get all the Day One edition game benefits (Ryse, Dead Rising 3, Forza)? Or do you have to get the Day One edition of those, too?

Waited for my Gamer Club at Best Buy to get upgraded before pre-ordering, and could only get in on Dead Rising 3 Day One Edition. Planning on getting Ryse too, but wondering if getting the "Day One Edition" really matters that much if I'm getting a Day One console.

I actually prefer the green box for some reason.

Can't wait to get my hands on that controller!

What to play first though? Ryse for the gfx? Cod to give the controller a good workout? Dead rising for the zambies? Bf4 for the lag?

Personally I am still on the fence as to what I am buying on day one.

For sure Day One
1.Killer Instinct
2. Crimson Dragon.
3. Dead Rising or Ryse depending on reviews.

Outside of that the following depending on reviews.
1. Powerstar Golf
2. Which ever remains left out from DR and Ryse
3. LocoCycle
4. Zoo Tycoon

Christmas
1. Forza
2. NBA 2k14

One thing I will say about the XBO's upcoming launch: their graphic design team is fantastic. I was already pretty happy with the blocky industrial design of the One back when it was first unveiled, but the box and packaging design for this rollout is pretty stellar.

Yea of course Im really just basing on the look of it I guess, it just looks more durable, ps4 just looks cheaper.

From what it seems, you need to get the Day One Edition for each game. Actually... now I'm worried if my copy of Forza will be a Day One Edition or not.

That was a key title in the 360 launch IMO. I was thinking if Resogun was going to be the Geometry Wars of this gen, but I don't think it comes close at all.

Nah, disappointingly it doesn't. I don't find it compelling much at all. Resogun was the one PS4 launch game I was looking forward to the most.

If you're *really* concerned, it seems Amazon still has Day One edition pre-orders open for the games. I was tempted to use some of my Amazon credit to get one for Ryse, but since I can pay it using Best Buy credit in it's entirety . . . well, I'm a bit torn.

Each game has their own "Day One Edition" sku that includes some special downloadable content. I am hoping target is getting plenty of those versions since I'm getting my games there (dat 30% off coupon).
