Square Enix's Dissidia Team Wants And Intends To Make a New Dissidia

http://www.siliconera.com/2013/11/1...-introduce-final-fantasy-new-generation-fans/

In an interview with Japanese magazines this week, Square Enix producer Ichiro Hazama, known for his work on the Dissidia and Kingdom Hearts series, along with The World Ends with You, shares his thoughts on wanting to make a new Dissidia, and to also do a special something for Chrono Trigger’s 20th anniversary.

“I want to make a new Dissidia, and we intend to do so. The people who’ve worked on the previous titles have also stated their desire to make a new one, too,” says Hazama.

“When you ask kids in their teens about their favorite Final Fantasy titles, Final Fantasy Type-0 and Dissidia are more popular than the main-numbered series,” shares the producer, while mentioning that there are many who were still children when they first experienced playing Dissidia Final Fantasy.

During the interview, Hazama also mentions his talks with Yoshinori Kitase who revealed that the Dissidia series and Theatrhythm Final Fantasy were both key titles, responsible for introducing the series to a new generations of fans from elementary and middle school ages.

Additionally, the hit SNES title, Chrono Trigger, will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in a little over a year. For the occasion, Hazama states his desire to connect Chrono Trigger’s original story writer, Yuji Horii (also known as the father of the Dragon Quest series,) with former Squaresoft producer and director Hironobu Sakaguchi, to create the “ultimate dot-art” game. However, he states that the hurdles are high and might be difficult to do.

I hope it actually comes to exist and is on the Vita. In all honesty, I'd like it to come out after XV though so that we could see Noctis.

There's absolutely no way it's on Vita, and I say that as someone who'd want it to be on Vita as an owner of the previous two games.

Would love to see this on Vita too. More like the original too, can't put my finger on it but there was something about the second one that didn't click with me as much as the first.

Please not on mobile please not on mobile...

It better be for Vita! I've love if FFXV characters are in it too yeah, I'd love some KH ones too, but unlikely I think.
Honestly didnt get into the past dissidias so much, but I'll give the vita version a chance I think.

Would love more Dissidia titles, cross it over with other Square Enix properties while they're at it and make it up to 4 players.

This is more important, I will love a dot-art game that popout like a picture book on the 3DS.

I'm surprised the thread didn't explode instantly at this point.

So depressing that Dissidia didn't end up being the Kingdom Hearts spin off it was meant to be. Oh well, I guess the games do well enough (critically at the very least) to warrant another sequel. And with Nomura most likely having some kind of input, I am sure Noct will be somewhere in there.

you speak so well
I'm more excited to see how crazy the title for a new Dissidia is than I am to actually play it.

make it a full on RPG where you can design a three or four person party based on characters from FFI-XV.
Maybe have it like Kingdom Hearts where you can go to a certain major city in each FF for various quests/storyline fulfillment.

Another handheld fighting game and I'm not interested.

I know its been said a bunch before but i'd really like a console entry. I just never felt like the series fit the handheld very well. At least, not for me.

If they release it, I fully expect them to hype up titles up to XV, even if they're unreleased. It's SE afterall, we're getting weird cross content from XI, DQX and XIII in XIV, and XIV content in XIII-2. Dissidia is just another vehicle for fanwank, just so happens that it's wrapped up in a really fun game.
The best kind of fanwank

Yeah, talk about burying the lead! Seems like this is just an idle kind of dream thing though.

Confession, seeing this headline made me so excited I actually went a little dizzy for a bit. Love love love love these games! This REALLY needs to happen in an age of HD and stable online.

Square if you put it on iOS only I will never, ever forgive you.

Fuck yesssssssssssss.

I've been so mixed because on one hand I absoultely adored the fighting system but on the other, I'd love for an actual full fledged RPG style where I can pick four party members(or heck, five would be even better!).

I don't want you to be hurt...let's lower those expectations.

Never played either on PSP. Worth picking up one or both?

012 is more of an expansion pack than a sequel and it includes the campaign from the original game after you finish 012's story (which acts as a prologue). You really only need to get Duodecim.

Hopefully it will be on Vita, as it should be the logical choice. But i know deep inside it will either be on the 3ds or for smartphones.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
Its just another excuse for them to make a game for lightning to appear in

OMG DO IT!

Just...not for mobile phones.

Fuck, it's going to be for phones.

I am sad now.

iOS + other mobile devices.

Lightning is the default character, others are locked behind paywall for $6.99 each. Need to have that Square Enix tax.

Additional music tracks are sold a la carte, $1.99 each.

Bonus: Triple Triad collectible cards/matchmaking. Virtual booster packs: basic $.99, superior $1.49, rare $1.99.

I'm joking around I love Dissidia, but with the way Square really wants mobile growth....
