Fossil Fighters: Infinite Gear (3DS)
Release: TBC 2014
Publisher: Nintendo
Cost: TBA

-3rd person camera rather than overhead
-The new Fossil Mobile vehicle will help you transport across the world, find fossils via scanning, and attack enemies.
-Different mobiles with different parts. Red and blue revealed so far, but more to come (in silhouette in the mag)
-Fossils are covered in dirt and dust (more realistic) thanks to new graphics. Head, hands feet can be found. Scan to figure out the overall shape.
-Whole fossil is displayed on the top screen, you select parts to clean on the lower screen.
-Otherwise, mechanics seem to be more or less unchanged at this point.
-Can chose to be boy/girl. Default boys name appears to be Jura. Partner dino is called Kajiro.
-From next month, there will be a manga in Corocoro each month by Keisui Takaeda.

The character art has definitely shifted toward a slightly older//more mature style than the previous two. Almost trying to be cooler and slightly more realistic/detailed. I guess you could say it's improved over the slightly bland aesthetic of the original. The overworld looks much improved and the battle graphics look a lot better too. It's not the prettiest titles, but it's certainly serviceable.

It's also listed, once again, as Nintendo/Red. Red being the guys who co-developed Fire Emblem Awakening.

waiting for more info.

never relewsed in PAL, I'd be curious to try it. the first two for DS were instead released in US

I vaguely remember buying and playing one of those on DS. I have no idea why since it doesn't look like the sort of game I'd normally buy. I feel weird now.

The original source has the title as "Fossil Fighters: Infinite Gear" (『カセキホリダー ムゲンギア』).

AW YEAH. Was hoping for this, looked really cool and I've been wanting to try the series.

RED makes these. Where's the source of the announcement? Nintendo Dream? Dengeki Nintendo? Famitsu's not leaking until Tuesday/Wednesday.

T-Rex for Smash 4, y'alls.

I haven't played any of these games at all but I really hope they get something in the next Smash. It's an original Nintendo title, after all.

Interesting how North America got Fossil Fighters and Europe got Inazuma Eleven. Can't we just share? ):

It's hilarious because the games themselves are pretty...meh, as in the combat is probably the weakest part about it and the graphics and story are likewise garbage (ho shit, the playmobil models in the first game oh my god).

But I totally bought and beat both. And the entire reason why was because as a kid I wanted to be a paleontologist and THIS GAME'S FOSSIL UNCOVERING IS SO GOOD AND GODDAM ADDICTING. I swear I have like 90 hours in these games just because of the stupid fossil excavation. I had so many ridiculously strong dinosaurs because I refused to accept anything less than 100 on my fossil scores.

What?! How did I miss this news!?

Translated from the article in the OP. Going to go buy Corocoro to see if I can get images (obv. can't post here).

Fixed and added some stuff. Got my hands on Corocoro just before it started to pour with rain.

thanks again
hopefully it will be released even in PAl, this time (eshop?)

I was thinking an eShop only release would be unlikely, but then I realized that's what they're doing with Pocket Soccer (or whatever they've called it), so it's always possible.

Hoping we get it in a timely manner! Last two games had localization times of like over a year.

Fossil Fighters 1 -> Champions was a pretty big leap in quality and I'm hoping this game is a similar leap. Pretty excited. I liked the first two games a lot! Now we just need to get this one... Be nice Nintendo!

Nintendo's been pretty good about keeping stuff close together across territories the last year. Only stuff they published in Japan that wasn't released Stateside (so far) was Band Brothers and Tomodachi Collection. Here's to hoping!

I'd really love to see this localized for PAL, honestly. I missed the two DS games, but I love dinosaur and the collecting/driving/fighting mechanics here seems good

This does look interesting. Would be nice to see a localization.

I'd be ok also with an eshop-only distribution, for PAL (the DS games didn't arrive at all), while US should be safe (US got both the DS games, right?)

Hmmm interesting.
Never played a game in the series. It looks a lot like Pokemon Stadium but with more freedom it seems.

I hope we see a localization for the Americas (and PAL too)
