I can already tell what the picture is hinting at.

I need to finish walking dead before getting spoiled!

I'll stop talking about it. I hate having something spoiled, and despite our efforts to be vague and use tags it will eventually become clear what we're discussing.

Play The Walking Dead. It's a good game.

Yes don't leave that game on the Backlog for too long fellow GAFfer. You can always play one chapter each day, or every 2 days if you don't have much time.

I mean... do it for Clementine!

Yea planning to play it more tonight! The game is just what I've been looking for actually, with dialogue choices and light point and click elements/qtes, was looking at Visual Novels but a lot of them don't really offer much interactions, walking dead is perfect.

No worries :D

Steam Guard isn't IP-based and there's no limit to the amount of authorised devices you can have (not to be confused with Family Sharing, which has a 10-device limit).

Thanks! Do you know on what it's based?

In preparation for sales I made some pics, posting here for your approval motivational one.

Make sure to leave some impressions and if you can, check the 400 Days DLC. It's a group of small stories that will end fast, a little more than an hour but it will leave you wanting for more The Walking Dead.

For some reason I can't take Steam screenshots with BPM in my Uplay copy of AC4. I could yesterday, but it already felt weird because the controller combination kept opening up the steam overlay as well. Now it just won't do it anymore.

Talk about being spoiled, I know
would you kindly
way before I play Bioshock.

Same here, and I didn't wait that long to play it. Made sure to avoid any thread about Infinite until I had finished it (a couple months after release).

I messed up and watched the trailer for Walking Dead season 2 before I had completely finished the first season. That was really dumb of me.

I didn't even need to do that to realise what was going to happen at the end of the first season. Knowing who the main character in Season 2 is kind of spoils what's going to happen in 1. At least, I assume so. I'll have to finish off Season 1 and see if I'm right.

Looks like the PC version of ACIV is badly optimized.

http://m.neogaf.com/showthread.php?t=719285

I have to wonder how they do this. Is this simply a "I don't care about PC, so let's rush it" kind of thing? The Need for Speed Rivals is locked at 30 FPS (saw it in the other thread) and I mean... for a racing game? On PC?

Are they just really lazy, they rush it because of deadlines to meet the release date or they simply do not care?

Bigwigs in charge are still locked in the 'all the monies is to be made on consoles anyway, so screw PC' way of thinking is what I'd think is happening.

They would simply be doing the best they can with the time and budget they have.

Low budget means a poor port which means low sales which means a low budget next time. It is the classic catch 44 situation of AAA PC gaming.

I'm not sure. Since Valve occasionally sends out hardware surveys to a particular percentage of users, one possibility is that Steam Guard assigns a PC a unique id based on the make and model of the CPU/motherboard, but I'm just spitballing here.

Haha, that'll be me since the general store update is at 2am now that the US has moved outside of the DST observation period.

The PC side moves less units, so less care is going to be shown towards things they probably see as "non-essential". I think that this is combined with the typical pressures on publicly traded companies to maximize profits and protect IP. I bet upper management is largely comprised of lawyers and accountants.

What's the consensus on OT8 thread?

I'll go with Jasec 2013 Announcements & Updates VIII: We also talk about Steam. And poutine.

After I begun Typing of the Dead: Overkill, every post I write no longer feels like procrastination but training.

the problem is, with such a crap pc port, even less people are now going to buy it. If they put in some effort, they could have better sales...I know I am not going to buy it for at least a few months now...

Unlikely since the unoptimized tradition continues from AC3 to 4.

Kiev did the pc port of 3 also iirc. It's probably down to the fact there's no time for a full engine overhaul due to the fact they need to churn a new one out every year. Even with staggered Dev teams working bi-annually, still no time to pull together a decent, functional engine. Part of me hopes 5 will be given a year to develop one specifically for next gen and pass rather than carry on tweaking the cross gen engine.

Edit: Beaten like my cpu trying to run ac4.

And they would see a lack of sales as well as the usual high numbers for piracy as proof that their choice to go cheap on a PC version was a good one. It is highly annoying and only makes me never want to buy a game near its release but wait until it hits the bargain bin.

exactly....its a vicious cycle. But seriously, i think ubisoft Kiev is just crap (im sure blacklist ran fine didnt it??)

Regarding AC BF:

Then this only shows that time cost money and no matter the little they do, some people will buy it regardless and pay full price for it. We could say that they try to make the most money with the least effort, at least with the PC Version. For many games it's clear they don't care and their focus is really on the Consoles. Take Call of Duty as an example which sell like crazy on the consoles but the install base on the PC is pretty small in comparison and it really decreases after some time post-release. So they don't simply care. People with amazing machines still found optimization issues which is a bit sad to be honest.

So it is just a bad port from Kiev, seeing as blacklist ran well. Guess no black flag PC version for me, given that AC3 was never fixed by Kiev and this likely never will either.

Hope watch dogs is not done by Kiev, have high hopes for that pc port...

Don't know if it's been mentioned (just woke up) but keys for Ring Runner (Groupees Bemine 9) and Bloody Trapland (check desura.com/collection) is now available.

Which isn't necessary true, not after a year or so (read: two/three Steam sales).

I think the mentality is probably more along the lines of typical movie studio big budget tent-pole productions. The sales surrounding the initial release at full retail is what they are focused on. Huge expensive budgets, huge promotion, with most of the profit coming from the console side during the period right after launch. When they are spending tens of millions on massive promotional ad campaigns while neglecting basic things like getting the game to run well...what else can you say?

I'm pretty sure I didn't buy bemine 9...yet I have ring runner on Desura. Did it pop up somewhere else that isn't tracked on the indie bundle site?

Thanks for the heads-up. I missed Indie Royale's Spiral Groove Bundle but I did snag Groupees' BM9.

I've been having something of a 360 nostalgia trip lately. Played a couple games I first played on xbla back when I still had my 360.

Super Meat Boy
I made it to Hell back when I first played it. I'm having a really rough time now just in The Hospital levels. My platforming prowess has become more shitty over the years apparently. The thing is though, try as I might, even when I do pass a level I don't really feel good about it. As I mentioned in my thread about masochistic platformers much of the success that I achieve in this game feels like luck or simply reflexes. The whole experience just feels incredibly scripted.

Castle Crashers
Played this with a friend yesterday while I solo'd it mainly on 360. This game really is meant for co-op. I had a great deal of fun with this. It really makes me want Dragon's Crown on steam or really just more side scrolling beat em ups with rpg elements. Also I want every The Behemoth game on steam (alien hominid and battleblock theatre), we had to wait quite some time for Castle Crashers, I'm not okay with waiting on these. And speaking of The Behemoth, are they working on anything now?

Thank you for the heads up. Bloody Trapland was from Indie Royale (I tried to get the key on Desura, but it said I had to get it on Indie Royale's website).

I know everybody keeps posting to http://indiegamebundle.wikia.com/wiki/Keys_Added as a wonderful place to see if new keys got posted, but I never know which bundles I bought or not, so I would have to coam the entire page and go to every bundle website looking to see if I have the game or not.

People coming in the thread and giving a heads up when they know is wonderful. That way I only have to search for one game, usually. imo, people should keep posting when new keys show up.

Is it me or have some of the latest Nvidia sponsored games been very badly optimized?

I'm talking about Assassin's Creed 4 and COD: Ghost at least. What's the point of featuring a game if it has a shit version on PC?
