No please, unless every JRPG can show the beauty as much as FEA battle animation, which I doubt it that a 3DS could handle more than that. I know it is much more convenient to play JRPG on the go, but it is already in handheld for too long already. I want to see more ambitious title in graphic fidelity and scope of the game. It's time for them to return to console. Just imagine DAT FEA animation quality in HD detail on the Wii U. It will be glorious yes?
I was speaking by a business perspective. Graphically? Absolutely zero franchises would benefit from moving to a weak device such as the 3DS and while I kind of like my 3DS (...not really, I must say I only still have mine because of Pokémon), I wouldn't want my favorite franchises moving to it just because. That being said, I wouldn't have expectations about the graphics in Persona 5 lol It is a Atlus game, regardless of what system it will be released for.

lol, once the characters are shown it'll all be shipping discussions, waifu wars, and #teamlonghairedglassesgirl instead. The rest of the discussion will be how people prefer the design of P3/P4 characters and how they're so much better.

Hmmm, I thought it would've been "announcements" due to the three boxes. Gosh I wish Teddy wasn't here. Please move away from P4.

Hashino confirmed that they have announcements for the event. But P5 would be the major announcement. Other stuff like potential console ports of P4U2 or another anime wouldn't be announcements that they wouldn't hype as much.

From business perspective is very logical, but for how long will Japan to continue to play in their comfort zone with handheld? Maybe some series have the resources to doing well in console, maybe even push the console market. But if the developer decided to move into handheld because from business-wise it is more profitable, things wouldn't change in Japan. Providing Atlus, in this case as we talking about next Persona, already have the massive resources in their hand(budget, install base, fanbase, new engine), console would be the ideal platform of choice. If they ended up announcing it as handheld title, my fear of this stagnancy realized in the worst possible way.

As someone who's really hoping from a 3DS/Wii U version, I really don't understand all those "please let it be on ....-only, I wanna see the meltdown". Meltdowns are only fun 5 minutes, especially that one, since Atlus would really suffer from it. It's not like Monster Hunter, where the players will go pretty much anywhere the main series is. While I wouldn't exactly call Persona 'niche', it's still a franchise that heavily relies on an extremely loyal fanbase (just like all Atlus franchises, actually). P*ssing that fanbase by moving to a non-Sony platform would be near suicide.

Which is why I'm hoping for either multiplatform or Sony exclusive (even though that'd mean no P5 for me, not before a few years at the very least). But no Betrayalton, please... which was already confirmed by that japanese PS Blog post a few days ago anyway, so here's that.

Person 5 for PS4/Vita and 3DS would be nice.

Europe won't see it til 2 years after its launch in the US though, yes im still bitter about P4.

I just want as many people as possible to be happy about the platform
as long as I'm happy before they are

Thank you for the information. Now I can get excited!

Teddy is Persona's most recognizable character, so it makes sense that he's on the page.

I hate Teddy so much. Easily my most hated character in the game.

Persomon Hunter from creators of Persona games.

You will be young hunter in training and your task will be to collect all Personas.
You will be able to use all personas you catch and you also will be able to use their remnants to make armor or weapon.
Players also will have option to date few personas like Valkyrie or Lilith.(additional romances via DLC).
Player will have to fight with veteran persona users in their quest.

Isn't the reason for Japanese people preferring handhelds over home consoles, the lack of space in their houses plus the fact they are for the most time outside their houses (moving from house to work, work to house, etc)? That doesn't sound like a comfort zone to me, if anything it is just the most suitable way for Japanese people to play their games. Anyway, I am pretty sure even Japanese people would buy whatever system, as long as the games they want to play are released for it. Like, wasn't the PS2 a blast in Japan back in the day? If franchises like Dragon Quest, Monster Hunter, Shin Megami Tensei and hell, even Pokemon moved back to consoles (Pokémon was never a console-based franchise, but still), I think Japan would leave their "comfort zone" (as you said) and go back to console gaming.

Wouldn't you be happy if it was a PS3 title? Because I am pretty sure most people want it to be a PS3 title.

I don't really care about any of the characters from P3 and P4. They were good, now I'm done, I want a new cast.

Persona threads tend to be about the two things I couldn't give a shit about: the cast of past games and the platform the game will be on. Snoooooozeeeeer.

Most recognizable? No way. Maybe for P4 but overall the MCs and some of the girls - mostly Mitsuru and Chie - are much more recognizable.

Mmm, yes, I can see how another anime girl is more recognizable and memorable compared to a round cartoon bear. It's not like anime girls are in everything or something.

PS3-only is one of my worst case scenarios since I just sold mine off and it would basically mean I wouldn't get to play it anytime soon if at all.

Cross gen multiplat is what I want.

Very annoying character with bad puns Vs waifus

Not even a match man

I don't think that this is always the case. Look at the sales of Tales of Graces on the Wii vs. the PS3. You would've expected that the Wii version would've sold better due to having a much bigger install base. But in the end it was the PS3 version that sold more. Harvest Moon is another example of that. That's a series that does far better on Nintendo platforms than any other. Even the N64 HM sold better than the versions released on the PS2 and PSP. Some games just have fans to gravitate to specific platforms. I think that this is especially the case when dealing with a series that doesn't necessarily put up monster numbers.

GREE exclusive card battle game!

Atlus: "Today, we're proud to announce that Persona is no longer a part of the Shin Megami Tensei family and we've sold the IP to Compile Heart."

Compile Heart: "We're pleased to announce that Hyper Dimension: Persona 5 is coming exclusively to Wii U and smartphones,"

GAF: "Well, that's that.jpg"

In all seriousness I think PS3/Vita would be the smart way to release Persona 5. We shall see.

Cross gen would be great. But I wouldn't mind buying a PS4 for Persona (well, if it's considerably cheap when it comes out, the current price of $1700 isn't very attractive)

I wasn't talking about a goddamn popularity contest, or that he was "the best" character or something. The design of his character simply stands out more compared to any other character in Persona history, outside of the old SMT art style.

PS3/PS4 is hands down the best scenario. Still, wouldn't a Vita version satisfy you?

I guess you're right, but as far as home console are concerned, the PS3 was always a better system for Japanese RPG compared to the Wii, no?
Depends how close to finish it is, if its still a year away from JP release I sure don't want it on PS3.
If Atlus is really announcing it on the 24th, I am fairly sure the release date isn't that far in the future.

Although that's a reason as to why it shouldn't be on the poor selling Vita. Personally I'm fine with wherever persona wants to go.

I'm guessing Sony exclusive. After working on P4G the Persona team mentioned how much they really liked the system, so I'm hoping for PS3/Vita cross play. That would be amazing.

Yeah, Teddie IS the persona mascot now for the most part, so there's little point in figuring out the significance of his appearance on stuff related to this and wondering what it means. Doesn't the Atlus twitter even use him?

Yeah, but who is the majority of the base in the first place. Is the majority of the people who would buy those games on Wii or on the PS3? It's possible the PS3 had a larger install base who are interested in that type of game.

Let's all remember how both Persona 3 and 4 came out after PS2 was considered last gen. (I know, P3 came out a few months before the PS3 release).

P5 is most likely coming out for the PS3. That's how ATLUS rolls.

I'm amazed this hasn't been done yet.
