For the people who aren't regulars in Media Create threads:

What is Dengeki?
Dengeki is a website (it's also a brand of magazines / a book and manga imprint) that publishes sell-through Japanese sales data tracked by Kadokawa ASCII Research Laboratories, Inc., a division of Kadokawa Corporation. Every week they publish a nationwide snapshot of Japanese video game sales with the cooperation of more than 3,000 specialty game stores and convenience store chains all across Japan.

Why post Dengeki numbers when you have Media Create / Famitsu in the OP?
1) Unlike any other tracker, Dengeki gives us software numbers for Top 50 sales so we can track low-performing titles for a longer period of time
2) Unlike the others, Dengeki gives us total software sales for every platform, so we can track the relative health of platform software ecosystems
3) Dengeki is a respected sales tracker with 5 consecutive years of being reported each week in GAF threads

Is Dengeki less accurate than Media Create / Famitsu?
1) Dengeki is just as accurate as Media Create and Famitsu. Just because each tracker has quirks and natural deviations from the others doesn't mean one is inherently superior to the rest.
2) Dengeki is the tracker most unfamiliar to GAF / the public, and sometimes people confuse lack of dissemination with inaccuracy in sales figures
3) The amount of retail stores Dengeki tracks is similar to Media Create and Famitsu

Here are the differences between the trackers:

Media Create:
+ Nationwide Japanese sales data from Media Create Co., Ltd.
+ Tracks more than 3,000 retail stores / chains
+ Top 20 software sales with numbers
+ Top 50 software sales without numbers
+ Total hardware sales per platform
+ Sometimes presents sell-through figures
+ Releases first (at the same time as Famitsu)
+ Nintendo uses these numbers in their investor presentations
+ Distinguishes between 3DS and 3DS LL
- Does not track download cards
- Does not provide software sales figures past the Top 20

Famitsu:
+ Nationwide Japanese sales data from Enterbrain, Inc.
+ Tracks about 3,600 retail stores / chains
+ Top 30 software sales with numbers
+ Total hardware sales per platform
+ Sell-through ranges for all titles
+ Has the most historical data available for GAFfers
+ Tracks download cards
+ Releases first (at the same time as Media Create)
- Does not distinguish between 3DS and 3DS LL
- Does not report total software sales

Dengeki:
+ Nationwide Japanese sales data from Kadokawa ASCII Research Laboratories, Inc.
+ Tracks more than 3,000 retail stores / chains
+ Top 50 software sales with numbers
+ Top 3 software sales per platform
+ Total software sales per platform
+ Total hardware sales per platform
+ Sell-through figures for a few titles
+ Distinguishes between 3DS and 3DS LL
- Inconsistent data reporting over the years
- Does not track download cards
- Releases nearly 24 hours after Media Create / Famitsu

New to this week's Dengeki are two spreadsheets:

DENGEKI - TOTAL SW + TOTAL HW (FY 2013-2014) (UPDATED 11-21-2013) (BY AQUAMARINE FOR NEOGAF) (DISTR).xlsx

1) Contains weekly software sales + weekly hardware sales for each platform from April 1st through November 17th
2) If there is a slight discrepancy, numbers are corrected in accordance with each week's FY-to-date

DENGEKI TOP 50 ARCHIVE (BY AQUAMARINE FOR NEOGAF) (UPDATED 11-21-2013).xlsx

1) Contains every single entry from every Top 50 Software Dengeki list from April 1st through November 17th
2) Ordered by ranking (to see relative weekly performance) and alphabetically (to track sales performance throughout the weeks)
3) Has 1,650 unique entries

Future iterations of the Top 50 Archive will include:

1) Dengeki sales numbers prior to April 1st, 2013
2) Dengeki sales numbers not included in each Top 50

Part of the reason people don't use Dengeki as often is because unlike Famitsu / Media Create, there aren't databases with easily-searchable Dengeki information.

The Top 50 archive is my attempt to ramp up efforts in making the tracker more accessible. It's preliminary, so it may contain minor errors.

Still, no Rune Factory 4 US debut posted yet as I politely asked ;_;

By the way, did DQX Wii U really sell tons of copies digitally or was that a mistranslation?

It surely did. Its the number one of the all time ranking software on the wiiu eshop and has been consistently on the top three of the weekly charts (which are probably small numbers, but still). We just dont know the numbers.

Also, looks like the expansion its not on sale on the eshop. Dont know if theres any kind of promotion on the game since i dont have it, but eshop says its not going to sell, so maybe we will see higher numbers for the expansion than for the original release.

Also, in one day, Mario 3d world already sold better than wii party u and its on its track to surpass game and wario on eshop. I dont know if a lot of people plan to get Taiko on the eshop too, but i believe it will surpass those two too with time.

Mario 3D World is #23 on amazon.de one week before release. This is pretty good for a WiiU game in germany.
Note: Ps4 (11.29.), XboxOne (11.22) not yet released.

edit: Zelda Link between worlds is #6

Actually Wii Street U is #1 in the alltime chart.

Expansion will be available as DLC, according to the eShop info page. The expansion will still do better at retail than the original release because upgraders from Wii got the U download version for half price. The expansion doesn't have this kind of discount so more will buy the disc version this time.

DQX Version 2 - 40pt (14 days before release) - ?

The unbreakable lotus.

By the way, did DQX Wii U really sell tons of copies digitally or was that a mistranslation?
It's at 200.000 units minimum, including the digital sales.

Maximum, no idea, depends on the digital sales since the last report.

I dont count wii street since its not a game and went free for quite some time, including the week where the bundles came out.

And thanks for the information. :)

Is DQX V2 like a rerelease or something? Is it exlusive to the Wii U?

Isn't that a pretty decent number?

So what are the largest selling 3rd Party games on the Wii U?
Monster Hunter?
Sonic Transformed?
Lego City?

Still, no Rune Factory 4 US debut posted yet as I politely asked ;_;

Rune Factory 4 JUST made it in time for the September NPD (they counted October 1) and its debut sales were around 17,000. I was hoping for 20,000, so I'll just imagine that 3,000 other people have picked up the game after October 1...or at least 3,000 people in Europe will pick it up when it comes out over there, then the 20,000 mental barrier I have will be satisfied.

Are this your predictions for the FW or LTD?

Also, do you guys think we should separate the Vita versions of X/X-2 by sku for more accuracy? How has MC treated Vita collections in the past? Does every Twin Pack considered as such independently? Or will each of them considered two sales (one of each game)?

I think there was no tracking for Xenoblade because it was a retailer exclusive, but I never knew about sales or NeoGAF or NPD or those kinds of things last year, so I wasn't around for that month's thread, I could blissfully purchase a game because I heard it was cool, without worrying about my heart being broken by its sales :p

To stay on topic, I'll just add that I'm glad that the Vita performed great last week! I'd rather see more Japanese games on dedicated gaming devices than on mobile >_<

Anything else relevant (100k+) for December? Hardware? PXY and MH4?

Drag-On Dragoon 3 looks like an interesting release, I would include it.

Regarding December hardware sales I find they are even more fun to predict than most of the new software releases, so I would definitely include 3DS and probably Wii U and PS Vita too.

Oh sorry, FW predictions. And I thought the PS3/PSV collections were seperated so I seperated them. :(

No problem.

As for FFX/X-2, the PS3 version is a single sku.

The Vita has three skus: One for each game separately and a Twin Pack where both games are included in one box (although two separate carts).

Yeah. Didn't Nier sell pretty well in Japan? Not huge opening but had decent legs for RPG. Interesting to see Drag-On Dragoon 3 numbers.

Wow, I thought the game had bombed way harder than that. I guess I got confused with the US where I think it opened at 5k or something.

Isn't that still a 95%+ drop from the previous game?

Damn Taiko...

But really, all of those sellthrough are absolutely awful. I guess Mario could have some okay legs, but the rest... What happened with One Piece?

Taiko never sell much on its release week. It keeps selling till the christmas, where it
peaks.

From looking at the achives listed in the op, it looks like they do, but new years week is the week that numbers get insane, along with the week right before and right after.

Its crazy how one of the best looking jrpgs came so early this gen and tbh thats not praising blue dragon its just showing how disappointing the jrpg scene has been on consoles since PS2 and the golden days of PS1. The things that confuses me the most is that jrpgs sell well. Theres a big audience for them on PS3 clearly, and three of the biggest new IP's iirc are jrpgs (Dragons Dogma, Dark/Demons Souls, Bravely, Default).

Going back to this because I think it's interesting. I think it's actually a lot harder to make successful JRPGs now. Dragon Quest is moving towards social gameplay, Final Fantasy is moving towards action. Dragon Dogma's Western-styled. In the NES days, it seemed like you could just take Dragon Quest, slap it in a new setting, and that would be enough (Mother, Far East of Eden, Glory of Heracles, Destiny of an Emperor).

Bravely Default seems like it's a Final Fantasy game in all but name; are there any other new retro-styled JRPG IPs that have been successful over the last gen?

Super Mario 3D World - 20%
One Piece: Unlimited World Red - 20%
Taiko no Tatsujin Wii U Version - 5%
Cooking Mama 5 - 5%

Wow, these are awful.

Let's wait & see.

To have legs doesn't a platform have to have established install base to a certain extent? I donno...

The One Piece game is great so I hope it doesn't bomb. Be great to have another successful monster hunting game on the 3DS to rival all the Vita (cl)ones. And I feel bad for hoping Cooking Mama 5 bombs
so I can pick up a cheap copy for the awesome fish-feeding mini-game
.
