Very good season. Better than 3 overall.

Sad to see Harrow kill Maybelle by accident like that, and to die later.

I wouldn't have minded Knox sending Eli to Belize instead of the other way around.

So what is up with that scene with Narcisse and Hoover? Was Hoover telling Narcisse what to do regarding the murder of Knox?

Plus, Narcisse bowing down to a white man by replying as "yes sir" is like a poetic justice.

Forgive me if this has been asked already, but why was Maybelle in Richard's line of sight at all?

It seemed like she literally positioned her head in the perfect place.

I guess I sort of blanked on that. I thought she was still standing in a corner. When he pulled the trigger, I didn't think anyone important had been shot.

I actually thought that white lady got it at first.

haven't seen the finale yet, but just got it ruined for me on twitter - fuuuuuuuu. i guess i should consider myself 'lucky' that this is the first time its happened.

It speaks volumes of Jimmy as a character when he's still having a major impact when he's been dead for two full seasons.

That's some impressive writing, many times in shows a death is supposed to have a major impact yet two episodes later it's like they never existed in that world.

I sorta feel this way about Eddie.

Idk, I felt like his death should have had a much bigger impact than it did.

Why would anyone peruse twitter on the night of a season finale for a show they watch? Actually, why does anyone read twitter at all?

harrow my dawg i hate it had to be him. glad he left with tommy being in safe hands though.

fucking chalky is broken now too, as is eli tbh.

but the prospect of eli, van alden and capone being in the same scenes now has me far too excited. that's like the best three remaining characters now holy shit.

to quit this show now because of richard's death is baffling. he was great and will be missed but good episodes are still definitely ahead.

this show has balls. unlike, say, walking dead which is set in a lawless civilization but can't kill anybody of note.

Absolutely outstanding finale to a season that slogged a fair bit, a lot of promise with the next season, Richard Harrow was by far the best character on the show and I'm kinda upset he's gone but I don't entirely understand how.

I wonder if Daughter will be a focus character in the following season now also?

Oh fuck me that ending was sad. Beautifully shot and put together, but Christ...

Harrow :(

Very happy that we'll see more Narcisse. He's an amazing character. I really liked Knox, too, but I can't argue with that ending.

To be honest I'm surprised Nucky allowed Jimmy's body to be found. Seems out of character for him.
Maybe. Though his character did go through a significant change in deciding to hang up his boots.

Man... what a finale. The Harrow scenes were just fucking heartbreaking. Sad to see him go like that, but it was getting to the point where they had to end his storyline. It was fitting but I wasn't ready to see it go down like that.
Good lord at that Eli fistfight. Felt so good.
And poor Chalky... I'm wondering if he's even going to be on the show anymore?
Once again they manage to tie up quite a few storylines in a satisfactory way, yet have left a decent number of threads open.
Yeah, we know more about the upcoming tensions and dynamics than we normally do. Lots of resolution, but several new threads were started (or remain open).

Am I the only one who feels uncomfortable and tense for most of each episode, especially during the second halves? I've never had a show that gave me such a profound unease.

God damn it Harrow :(

This show man. Who's left in Atlantic City to care about other than Nucky? Going by history and who's left on the show and where they are, all the action next season should be taking place in Chicago. NJ is just a "bystander" at this point.

God. Damn.

I think they totally pulled it off. The end of the season felt nothing at all like Season 3. But damn. Not like this. Not like this. :(

Gamasutra.
Harrow's hand was wounded during his trip to Wisconsin, right? So it wasn't just nerves -- it was physical and mental. At least that was my take.

Holy fuck what an episode. That Eli fight might be the most tense thing in all of Boardwalk. That shit just would not end.

Harrow's ending was beautifully shot.

Am I the only one that read some foreshadowing into Willy's handing Nucky a cigaratte when Nucky couldn't find one of his own? I think back to that episode where Nucky is hiding out in that house with Owen and the kid, and when the kid lies and is about to have one of his own cigarettes, Nucky pulls out the gold-plated holder and hands him one of his own before killing him. I think seeing what Nucky was going to do to his father has catalysed something in Willy and that moment was a bit of foreshadowing.

Anyway, greatest show on television.

So erm... some hints about S5:

TVLINE | Is this the end of Gillian’s story?

No. She’s a terrific character and Gretchen is a joy to work with. We will certainly see more of her in Season 5.

Women's prison storyline incoming?

TVLINE | Will she get more airtime in Season 5 than she did in Season 4? (About Margaret)

Probably, yes.

Hmmmm....

TVLINE | Will Jeffrey be back next season?

Yes. We will see Narcisse back next season. That storyline has not concluded.

OOOOOH FUCK YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

Man, sad to see Harrow go and not actually kill Narcisse. Who was Hoover refeering to when asking Narcisse to become an informant?

This season was absolutely amazing. Television bliss.

I find it hard to even compare anything to this show, especially this season.

Was a shame that Harrow had to go. I do like how you think he's dead, then there's that sigh of relief when you think he's fine, then you notice his face is whole again...

Not to take the spotlight away from Jack Huston (he deserves it), but I'd like to draw everyone's attention to the fact that this could very well be the last time we see Greg Antonacci as Johnny Torrio.

Here's to a thoroughly likable and charming portrayal of Al's mentor and one of the last remnants of gangster culture before the well known Capone-style era. He absolutely nailed the character, as do most of the cast.

Worth noting that Eli almost surely knows who Van Alden is.

That setup in Chicago for season 5 is just amazing, can't wait to see what they do there.

that last episode was very disappointing for me.. It's like every bad thing happened that i didnt want to for the characters involved... can't wait til' next season!

I think that much was pretty obvious from his speech with Capone when he hands over the operation saying "you've won". Although, possible spoilers for next seasons:

He does come back to America to set up another gang with Luciano, Lanksy and a few others but I don't think they'll bother in the show.
