Xbox One Consoles Smoking

Two users on the Xbox Support forum have reported that their Xbox One had an amber light on the power brick and, when they plugged it into a different outlet, the console began smoking from the top. Sending the console back to Microsoft will get you a replacement console. One user said that the amber light appeared and, when they reset the power supply, the console made a buzzing sound and then began to smoke.

No word if it’s a refurbished or a brand new console but, if the console is smoking, the best thing to do is to carefully unplug it as it could lead to a far worse problem. Better safe than sorry, right?

I have difficulty accepting that someone at MS wasn't aware of the problems the 50hz tv would cause

I think they just rushed the product out the door and hopefully will patch in a fix somehow for PAL users

Mine arrived today and wouldn't read discs out of the box. Microsoft is doing advanced replacement, although it says I won't get it until next week.

Yeah. I got a code for Dead Rising 3 in my email this morning.

Any other time of the month, and I probably could have done advanced replacement as well, but right now I can't afford to have $530 held on my CC for that option.

I feel ya there. Luckily I shopped for presents last month, so it's fine. Should have the hold off by next Thursday or so anyhow.
