Alien Isolation artwork leak

If this means that Alien(s) will then be a more terrifying enemy, then this could be good. Like, it/they pop in while in firefights and cause general chaos or provide tension in-between those encounters.

Certainly better than the mindset that you should just destroy waves of aliens because they are merely fodder.

I'm fine with this in principle, if it doesn't mean the game as a whole winds up being combat-driven.

Depends on which version of the film you watch -- the theatrical cut doesn't mention her fate at all.

Aliens has one of the most borked universe's ever in terms of what is and what's not canon. Even the comic's have a hard time dealing with all the shit.

Sadly this is what most people think of when it comes to Aliens because of the 2nd film.
Being a fan more so of the 1st I agree that I would like to see a more return to that style where even just one will be terrifying.

I thought Ripley's daughter was dead (iirc mentioned in the second movie)....

They mention that she died an old women. Since 57 years have passed between Alien and Aliens, this could have happened in between.

Still, the idea of the main character being Ripley's daughter is absolutely cringe-worthy. I hope this isn't considered cannon.

So I take it that the game occurs somewhere in that 57 years for which Ripley was in stasis?

"Dishonored meets BioShock" was how it was described to me.

Dunno if that artwork is real, but it certainly looks like Ripley's daughter. I legit hope 2014 is the year of female protagonists.

Dishonored meets Bioshock in the Alien setting is certainly, uh, interesting. Maybe System Shock-ish?

Definitely sounds more interesting to me than a normal Alien game anyway.

Playing Devils advocate, they're actually pretty boring and generic for a videogame and thanks to Cameron...just cannon fodder to be thrown infront of pulse rifles, flamethrowers and turrents.
A 10 hour game of shooting cookie cutter black beasties crawling around would soon grow tiresome.
That's the thing, there's tons of Alien variations to work with, doesn't have to be the normal xenos every corner.

Like people suggested, Dead Space with aliens instead of Necromorphs could totally work.

The posters give me a Dead Space vibe which is good.

This, on the other hand:

I really hope this one turns out well. I've heard very positive things on the down-low, but the talk of most of the enemies being soldiers and cyborgs is just ... urhg.

Means that the dream is dead.

Given the studios track record with action games, I wouldn't hold your breath.

Still, there's always the chance they could manage something great, I mean hell, Rocksteady's only game prior to Batman was pretty laughable and yet who cares because BATMAN.

Please, not FPS this time. Make it RE4 clone or something, just not FPS.

I wouldn't mind it as an FPS so long as it had some suspense vibes, we did have two fairly brilliant first person entries, but i do agree and would love it third person and less action oriented.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
Finally an aliens game where they maybe don't throw a million mooklike aliens at the player. An alien should be fucking terrifying to face

So we're expecting this to be revealed tonight, right? Need to know if I should make some xenomorph egg ice cubes.

Hmm this actually brings my hype levels back up, not to mention the artwork is great. Not sure if I like the idea of it being Ripley's daughter - feels like too much fan service imo. A female protagonist would be great to see though.

Awesome developer!
Few aliens sounds good too, I'd rather have humans and cyborgs as cannon fodder than aliens. They deserve better.

I didn't know Creative Assembly made non-RTS games, and then I looked up their wiki. Wow they made Viking Battle for Asgard, I liked that game even if it was flawed (and got RRoD playing it)

Green is the new blue.

Sadly, the reason why we probably won't see a good Alien AAA game is because AAA games = filled to the brim with action. You'd need a special kind of developer that would be able to create a good Alien game and be able to market it to a profit.

For people wondering about Ripley's daughter, I see the contrived coincidence as more of an issue than any contradiction with the director's cut of Aliens. Remember, the Weyland-Utani company lies. For all we know, the cancer was a cover-up.

Just make a horror isolation game with limited ammo ffs, stop giving us the same fps heavy games where you mow down enemies all the time.....

So what are the odds of this being a VGX reveal in a few hours? I'm inclined to think the timing of the leak isn't coincidental, but who knows.

How about one alien and just you and maybe a few others isolated on some shitty, scary space station, trying to survive? And you can beat the game by either killing the alien or escaping?

And you don't take cover to stop and pop once the entire game because the alien is just gonna jump over and impregnate you with its babies if you try that

and each time you play, one of the people you're with is actually trying to kill you, but it's random each time and you have to figure it out.

with an optional perma-death mode

It'd be cool, for a change, if not every character became an action hero just to have a very shallow connection to fan service material.

Ripley's daughter stayed back on Earth and lived her normal life without her mother, lost in space.
Only now we find out she totally went into space to fight the aliens and shoot down a million space pirates and marines.

Creating a completely new character with a new storyline that didn't rely on fan service must've been impossible.

That's pretty much how I feel. You can't have the player fight aliens all the time if you want them to stay scary.

I think it could work just fine if it's sort of like the Riddick game except with the Alien being a Resident Evil 3 Nemesis type of enemy.

That could also work, but then it would have to be an adventure game or purely a horror game. That's more like indie game territory probably.

It wouldn't have to be, but yeah, no publisher would green light that lol

but man it would be awesome

I am totally fine with the aliens being rare and super dangerous rather than cannon fodder.

This. As the game is going to be a AAA game with combat, I would rather fight humans with Aliens being the rare 'I am fucked' encounters, than Aliens being the basic enemy.

Love how the art looks, and despite Jim's quote, I hope more enemy encounters would be more like dealing with 120A2 (Ash's model from Aliens that'll go haywire) with maybe weaker weapons (minus flamethrowers) like Ripley running from Ash.

I'm interested.
I dont mind cyborg and human enemies with only few very very deadly and maybe even invulnerable xenomorphs if the atmosphere is good.
I hope they make it as survival horror as possible.

The images look like a straight ripoff of the original film - the artwork in the second picture even looks like the Nostromo, for God's sake.

Please let this be good, please let this be good...

RE4 Clone sound Fucking awesome !

Dead Space 1. RE4 is way too actiony and crowded. DS1 pacing, atmosphere and isolation is what Alien need to be.

if they can make it like Dead Space 1 (with same use of sound design) it'll be great.

Am I the only one that enjoyed the updated PC version of Aliens: Colonial Marines? I thought it was great.

Looking forward to this. I hope it's a fps and I hope it's only coming out on PC and next gen (but not WiiU).

What kind of shitty attitude is this? With the proper support and development, third party WiiU games have just as much chance to be a good game as the rest of the multiplatform family.
