So, 2DS was included then.
Eeeeeeeeh, it's a good number, but it should have sold 1 million this month.
At least, December has Pokémon 2DS bundles, so it's certainly going to be a good December.

I don't see how its a good number if it should have sold over 1 million :p

The sales for Pokemon in its second month were really low too, way below the norm for the franchise, so IDK how much the bundle will help.

Mario 3d World is truly an amazing game. When looking at that top Ten list I realize that sales and whats popular is just not in line at all with the kind of games I like.

I might pick up a Vita when I get my PS4 in Feb/March. I want it mainly for remote play, could not give a shit about the Vita games.

Kill the wiiu Nintendo.

there's nothing to gain by riding this turd for a couple more years just to say it wasn't killed too soon.

This would only work (and even then it would be a bad idea) if they were giving up on consoles all together.

3DS numbers aren't DS numbers, but it's clear they've managed to establish a healthy, profitable handheld market, which is very tough in today's world (just ask Sony!)

Wii U numbers are terrrrrible though. Really bad. If I were Nintendo, I'd be looking to support the Wii U through Christmas 2014, then look to launch a new console in November 2015. Offer those who bought the Wii U some sort of ambassador thing with the new console (like access to 50 VC games of their choice) or something.

There's just no way the Wii U turns it around to do even GameCube numbers.

First month sales:

[WII] Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo) {November 12, 2007} - 1,120,000
[WIU] Super Mario 3D World (Nintendo) {November 22, 2013} - 215,000

This is by far the most saddening thing I've seen gaming wise this season.

Pack it the fuck up Nintendo, it's dead.

I'm thinking that maybe the 3DS/2DS numbers are more troubling to Nintendo than Wii U. DS used to do a million a month like it was nothing.

Fellow gaffers,
This is what is happening with regards to MS saying XBO was the fastest selling console in november: If you average 900k across 9 days (from the 22th of nov until the end of nov), you'll get an average of 100k per day, right? In comparison, averaging the amount of PS4 sold in november (lets say it was 1.2 M) requires more days because it was released earlier. So from the 15th of november until the end = 15 days. 1,200,000 / 15 = 800k.
Hope it helps ;)

I think that's common sense, but where it gets really tricky is if, say, one console sold 800k-1 million in a single day, and then had no more units for the rest of the month. That would mean for each day till the end of the month that it's out of stock, it would be notching a donut lol. With this scenario, the other console is only the fastest selling in the month on the technicality that it actually had units for sale, whereas the other one was out of stock.

So then both Microsoft and Sony can then claim to have had the fastest selling console for/in the month of November, and both technically be telling the truth lol. PR :p

Yep Nintendo needs to pull out the price drop, secure more third parties, and stop sitting on the warchest. It's time to use the money.

425K.

If Wii U really did sell somewhere around 220,000, that's utterly abysmal. Horrid, horrid numbers. GameCube managed twice that.

Yep.

245K (Dreamcast, November 1999)
192K (Dreamcast, November 2000)
259K (Dreamcast, November 2001)

The Nintendo brand is finally over. Maybe next decade!

It's over, period. Nintendo lost the casuals, and that's the end of their Wii U hopes and dreams.

It's not hyperbole, it's not fanboy drivel. It is LITERALLY it for Wii U. Nintendo has nothing left, nothing they have can fix the hole now created. There is no reason left for anyone, hardcore or casual, to substantially invest in a Wii U. Except if they want to play Bayonetta 2. Which will also come to PS4 at some point.

Microsoft and Sony took the last reason away that anyone would NEED to own a WiiU over a PS4 or Xbox one(except Miiverse LOL GAMING), and the cavalcade of tiny titles that will be nice but won't stir up any sales is not going to salvage the underpowered non-entity that was Wii U.

There may be some hardcore gamers that stick around. Some did it for PS3 too. But the last bell tolled. Maybe next decade.

The age of Nintendo is done.

Well done. :)

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
So kill themselves faster?

Good idea

They still make profit on 3DS, they won't be losing money on Wii U, and a system more powerful than PS4 will give them at least 3 years on the market alone as the most powerful console.

If it's a visible difference and the right games are there at launch, it will have been far enough away from the PS4/XB1 launch that the core will be starving for a new system to buy.

The top ten has been like that forever, but the sales are still abysmal compared to other Mario games.

that's not true

someone needs to say the Vita numbers

Vita
post if youre okay
pls

Poor Tearaway. Vita is well and truly fucked.

The only way to "save" Vita at this rate is to do a super cheap PS4 hardware bundle where the up charge is only 100 dollars. This may not even work, either.

Crazy to see Sony post record numbers with PS4 and Vita. Record best in PS4 and record worst in Vita. Same thing to a degree with Nintendo. 3DS keeps on trucking while no one cares about the WiiU.

Nintendo needs to kill this machine and move all games past Mario Kart 8 on to a console more powerful than PS4 and released in 2015/2016.

Have what were supposed to be Wii U Smash Bros and Zelda be launch titles for the new system.

Glad to see Zelda 3DS sell so much, though. What a fantastic game.

It would probably be better for them to release games planned for a 2014 release at least while they work on another console.

Combining it with Famitsu numbers:

Pokemon X / Y (USA + Japan) = 5.800.000

A Link Between Worlds (USA) = 405.000

Super Mario 3D World (USA + Japan) = 400.000

Their problems are way bigger than just releasing a more powerful system.

If they are only even with Sony in NA then they will be well behind in worldwide sales.

I just saying, this doesn't look to be a PS2 over Xbox lead. Microsoft is still selling really well, and making a profit on each unit.

They're not pulling a Nintendo here, folks.

Its safe to say it is the gamecube part duex. On the bright side it will have great games and thats all that matters to the people who own one. Nintendo made their bed and now they must sleep in it. Ill enjoy mine for the twenty or so must haves it will accumulate.

Honestly, nintendo has been digging this whole since the 64 and the wii was just a fluke.

2DS got dropped to $99 this month also. make no mistake, that 3DS number is NOT GOOD.

where do you go from here? pokemon is already out. $99 is rock bottom.

Wow, at those Mario numbers. I feel pretty bad for Nintendo. :( I've heard a lot of great things about the game, so hopefully sales improve.
